Objective: The aim of this.s.udy was.to evaluate intra- and inter-obs.rver reproducibility of s.nus.x-rays.in comparis.n to s.nus.computed tomography (CT) in chronic rhinos.nus.tis.(CRs. patients. Methods. This.was.a pros.ective controlled s.udy for which 14 adult CRs.patients.were recruited. Patients.underwent a s.nus.multi-detector CT s.an as.well as.additional s.nus.x-rays.at the s.me time. s.mptom interview and s.in prick tes.s.were performed. Lund-Mackay (LM) s.ores.and 43 other findings.in paranas.l s.nus.s.were analyzed by three blinded obs.rvers.from CT-s.ans.and x-rays. We compared agreement between s.nus.CT and x-rays.(intra-obs.rver reproducibility) and between three obs.rvers.(inter-obs.rver reproducibility) by Cohen’s.kappa. Res.lts. In at leas. 90% of the cas.s. the s.atus.of 47/49 s.ructures.was.detectable in CT s.ans. whereas.the s.atus.of only 8/49 s.ructures.was.detectable in x-rays. The majority of the 25 vis.alized s.ructures.had poor intra-obs.rver and inter-obs.rver reproducibility. Conclus.on: Only a few s.ructures.can be vis.alized in paranas.l s.nus.x-rays.and compared to paranas.l s.nus.CT-s.ans. their reproducibility is.poor. Our res.lts.s.rongly s.pport the current cons.ns.s.of radiation dos. reduction by limiting the number of x-rays.

Background: After the failure of medical treatment, the s.rgery of chronic rhinos.nus.tis.(CRs. is.planned according to endos.opic and paranas.l s.nus.computed tomography (CT) findings. Objective: The aim of this.pros.ective s.udy was.to evaluate whether this.s.udy method might be eligible in s.udies.aiming at radiation dos. reduction. s.nus.CT s.ans.were chos.n as.a model becaus. of the high variation of the radiological anatomy of s.rgically important s.nonas.l s.ructures. We hypothes.zed that 3 mm-s.ice-thick recons.ruction CT had poor reproducibility. Methods. 59 CRs.patients.underwent routine multi-detector s.nus.CT (CTs.b>MDs.b>). CTs.b>3mms.b> was.recons.ructed from CTs.b>MDs.b> data-s.ts. Lund-Mackay (LM) s.ores.and 43 other s.ructural parameters.were analyzed blinded. Agreement was.s.udied between CTs.b>MDs.b> and CTs.b>3mms.b> (intra-obs.rver reproducibility), and between three obs.rvers.(inter-obs.rver reproducibility) by us.ng Cohen’s.kappa. Res.lts. The inter-obs.rver agreement was.moderate (kappa 0.4 - 0.6, p s.ructures.of CTs.b>3mms.b> s.ans. The intra-obs.rver reproducibility of CTs.b>3mms.b> s.ans.was.very good in mos. s.ructures. however, it was.poor in important s.ructures.s.ch as.frontal and s.heno-ethmoid reces., lamina papyracae, and location of optic nerve or anterior ethmoidal artery. The grade of s.rgeon’s.confidence of CTs.b>3mms.b> in comparis.n to CTs.b>MDs.b> was.lower (kappa 0.2 - 0.4, P s.on: This.methodology might have s.me us. in s.udies.aiming at radiation dos. reduction. Ionic Liquid As.is.ed Extraction of Nitrogen and s.lphur-Containing Air Pollutants.from Model Oil and Regeneration of the s.ent Ionic Liquid

Removal of air pollutants. s.ch as.nitrogen and s.lphur containing compounds.from a model oil (dodecane) was.s.udied. An ionic liquid (1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride [C2mim] [Cl]) was.us.d as.an extractant. Liquid-liquid extraction by us.ng 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride [C2mim] [Cl] was.found to be a very promis.ng method for the removal of N- and s.compounds. This.was.evaluated by us.ng a model oil (dodecane) with indole as.a neutral nitrogen compound and pyridine as.a bas.c nitrogen compound. Dibenzothiophene (DBT) was.us.d as.a s.lphur compound. An extraction capacity of up to 90 wt% was.achieved for the model oil containing pyridine, while only 76 wt% of indole in the oil was.extracted. The extraction capacity of a model s.lphur compound DBT was.found to be up to 99 wt%. Regeneration of the s.ent ionic liquid was.carried out with toluene back-extraction. A 1:1 toluene-to-IL wt ratio was.performed at room temperature. It was.obs.rved that, for the s.ent ionic liquid containing DBT as.a model compound more than 85 wt% (corres.onding 3852 mg/kg) could be removed from the oil. After the s.cond regeneration cycle, 86 wt% of the DBT was.recovered from the ionic liquid to toluene. In the cas. of indole as.the nitrogen containing s.ecies. more than 99 wt%, (corres.onding to 2993 mg/kg) of the original indole was.trans.erred from the model oil to the ionic liquid. After the firs.-regeneration cycle of the s.ent ionic liquid, 54 wt% of the indole–in-IL was.trans.erred to toluene. Thus. both extractions.of nitrogen and s.lphur model compounds.were s.cces.fully carried out from model oil and the back-extraction of thes. compounds.from the ionic liquids.to toluene demons.rated the proved the concept of the regeneration point of view.

Alarming Pres.ntation of a s.emingly Common Condition in a Patient with Renal Impairment

We received a 23-year-old male, working in the Army for 18 months. with advanced renal impairment, haemoptys.s.and hyperkalemia. An impres.ion of the pulmonary renal s.ndrome was.made and he was.managed aggres.ively with haemodialys.s. plas.a exchange and puls.ng with methyl prednis.lone. His.condition improved, but the renal functions.did not. The vas.ulitic workup including Extractable Nuclear Antigen (ENA) and Anti-Neutrophil Cytoplas.ic Antibody (ANCA) which were s.nt on admis.ion came out to be negative. As.he apparently res.onded to the initial management protocol, he was.s.bjected to renal biops. which did not reveal any vas.ulitis.but was.cons.s.ent for end-s.age renal dis.as.. s.bs.quently he was.s.bjected to lung biops. which als. was.not s.pportive for vas.ulitis. However, we concluded that the initial pointers.for Wegener’s.granulomatos.s.were mis.eading. The haemoptys.s.entirely s.bs.ded as.the conges.ion improved. He was.maintained on Haemodialys.s.three times.per week s.hedule and dis.harged to the peripheral health care facility.

Ninety-three (93) is.lates.have been s.reened to evaluate their antagonis.ic properties.agains. phytopathogenic microorganis.s.and to determine their biocontrol properties.agains. Fus.rium culmorum, es.ecially res.ons.ble for s.veral cereal dis.as.s.like font’s.s.edlings. rus., and burn of ears. Four (04) is.lates.(D2, D5, D8, and As.1) have been in vitro tes.ed to determine PGPR effect and biocontrol characters.of bread wheat (Triticum aes.ivum L.), Hidhab (HD) variety cultivated in the Muras.igue and s.oog (Ms. culture medium. The aim of this.s.udy is.the evaluation of antagonis.ic is.lates.of pathogenic fungi F. culmorum, without and within commercial fungicide (Tebuconazole, 60 g/l) s.lution. Our res.lts.s.owed clearly that thes. is.lates.have a s.gnificant effect on s.ed germination and s.edling growth. However, res.lts.argue that thes. actinomycetes.is.lates.s.ow a very interes.ing activity compared to the commercial fungicide. As.a res.lt, thes. bacteria is.lates.can be us.d as.biocontrol agents.agains. Fus.rium wilt dis.as. of wheat, which have a beneficial effect on growth parameters.

背景:toll样受体(TLR)对于机体稳态很重要,但它们对气传过敏的作用尚不完全清楚。目的:评价变应性鼻炎鼻腔上皮组织TLR蛋白质在基线和变应原激发时的表达。方法:研究对象为19名非吸烟的健康志愿者包括对桦树花粉过敏者和非过敏对照者。于非过敏季节,在用桦树花粉或稀释剂进行鼻内激发前后进行鼻腔活检。免疫组织化检测上皮组织TLR1-7、TLR9-10和My D88蛋白的表达。RNA微阵列检测TLR1-3和TLR5-10 m RNA表达。结果:在基线水平,上皮组织TLR蛋白质表达普宽,而且对照组和过敏组相同。于非过敏季节,在用桦树花粉或稀释剂进行鼻内激发后,TLR1和TLR6蛋白的表达得分呈现负性变化而TLR m RNA的表达未受影响。结论:鼻上皮组织似乎表达所有已知的TLR。TLR1和TLR6蛋白质可能会影响花粉变应原运输的机制需要进一步研究。

卡斯卡迪亚古陆边缘沉积层中含有丰富的碳库，其来源一方面是物质从陆地的不断输入，另一方面是来自海水表层生产力。该碳资源中有一部分是以固态的天然气水合物形式存在于沉积层的孔隙中，之前有研究表明在温哥华岛和卡斯卡迪亚古陆边缘的俄勒冈州区域都有大量甲烷资源的存在。卡斯卡迪亚古陆边缘多道地震反射剖面表明该区域沉积层中普遍存在似海底反射（Bs.），这意味着天然气水合物从3000m水深的形变前缘到500m水深的天然气水合物稳定区上临界位置都有分布。在本研究中我们汇总了卡斯卡迪亚古陆边缘经过一系列由不同的研究目的而进行的勘探确定存在甲烷羽状流的点位，同时也包含一些商业渔民主动提供的点位信息。高密度羽状流这一反常现象的出现和大陆架（小于180m）结构以及甲烷水合物稳定区域（MHs.）上限深度有关，甲烷水合物稳定区在东北太平洋区域一般为500m左右。在卡斯卡迪亚古陆坡观测到的这一异常现象可能是由于中层深度海水变暖引起的，这表明现代气候变暖已经开始使得对气候变化非常敏感的卡斯卡迪亚古陆边缘地带沉积层中的水合物开始出现失稳状态。针对北美大西洋斜坡相似的羽状流图像的重新分析表明在很多纬度范围内观测到的羽状流深度和MHs.之间联系不大。
