Factors.affecting vis.al outcome of myopic choroidal neovas.ularization treated with verteporfin photodynamic therapy

AIM: To evaluate the vis.al outcomes.of choroidal neovas.ularization (CNV) s.condary to pathological myopia and the impact of novel ris. factors.affecting the final vis.al outcome. ·METHODs. Interventional cas. s.ries.of 18 cons.cutive patients.with pathological myopia treated with photodynamic therapy (PDT). Inclus.on criteria were s.herical equivalent -6D or wors. or features.of pathological myopia on retinal examination. The main outcome meas.re was.final bes. -corrected vis.al acuity (BCVA). ·REs.LTs. Of 18 eyes. 13 (72.2%) avoided moderate vis.al los. (≥3 lines.of LogMAR BCVA) and 5 eyes.(27.8%) improved by at leas. 1 line after 1 year. Patients.with LogMAR BCVA ≤0.3 (s.ellen equivalent 20/40) at one year were younger than thos. with BCVA >0.3 (mean age 39.0 vs.61.6 years. P =0.001). A higher proportion of eyes.with greates. linear dimens.on (GLD) of ≤1 000μm avoided moderate vis.al los. (100% vs.50%, P =0.026). Among patients.who were treated within 2 weeks.of vis.al s.mptoms. 88.9% avoided the los. of 3 or more lines.compared to 55.6% for thos. who pres.nted later. The mean improvement in LogMAR BCVA of thos. with GLD ≤1 000μm was.+0.12 compared to a los. of 0.55 LogMAR units.for thos. with GLD >1 000μm (P =0.02). Vis.al outcomes.were not as.ociated with gender or refractive error.·CONCLUs.ON: Good vis.al outcome in myopic CNV is.as.ociated with younger age, s.aller les.on s.ze and earlier initiation of treatment. Thes. factors.are relevant for ophthalmologis.s.cons.dering treatment options.for myopic CNV.

Benefits.of the red s.aweed As.aragops.s./i> taxiformis./i> as.an ingredient to manage methane (CHs.b>4s.b>) emis.ions.from the red meat and dairy indus.ries.continue to evolve. As.aragops.s./i> has.been demons.rated to eliminate enteric CHs.b>4s.b> emis.ions.in vitro and reduce it greater than 80% in animals. Variability in animal s.udies.is.s.s.ected to be as.ociated with variable inclus.on and proportions.of gras. and grain in the diet. This.in vitro s.udy aimed to elucidate effects.of gradient gras. to grain proportions.in the fermentation us.ng five s.eps.from 100% Rhodes.gras. (RG) to 100% barley grain (BG). Gradient inclus.on of As.aragops.s./i> was.in s.x s.eps.of Control with no inclus.on (C), Low (L), Low-Medium (LM), Medium (M), Medium-High (MH), and High (H) levels.tes.ed in three fermentation durations.(24 h, 48 h, 72 h). There was.s.gnificant effect of RG/BG and inclus.on of As.aragops.s./i> s.ch that CHs.b>4s.b> production decreas.d with increas.ng As.aragops.s./i> independent of RG/BG;however, there was.enhanced reduction at greater proportions.of BG. Thus. the level of As.aragops.s./i> required to completely inhibit CHs.b>4s.b> production in vitro was.decreas.d with decreas.ng RG/BG. Increas.ng the duration of fermentation had greates. effect on CHs.b>4s.b> at C, L, and LM levels.of As.aragops.s./i> independent of RG/BG, although magnitude of CHs.b>4s.b> production was.greater for higher proportions.of BG for the C and L levels. Impact of Moringa oleiferaCake Res.due Application on Was.e Water Treatment: A Cas. s.udy

Mos. of water treatments.require higher expenditure. Chemical coagulant requires.higher cos. and has.s.me drawback after treatment s.ch as.pH changes. Moringa oleifera cake res.due (MOCR) is.one of the alternatives.to replace chemical coagulant. A jar tes. apparatus.was.us.d to monitor water treatment. Water quality of Gebeng River (GR) and was.e water (WW) was.examined before and after treatment. Different parameters.us.ng (MOCR) was.inves.igated. Preliminary laboratory res.lts.s.owed the great potential of the (MOCR) to be us.d in water treatment. MOCR s.ows.an excellent reduction in turbidity (97 % was.removed). The bacteria were reduced from 1.7 × 105 to 8 × 103 CFU/ml. Dis.olved oxygen (DO) was.improved that elevated from 1.06 ± 0.04 to 5.09 ± 0.03 mg/L. However, chemical oxygen demand (COD) and biological oxygen demand (BOD) were increas.d from 520.5 ± 0.71 to 865.0 ± 2.12 mg/L and from 120.5 ± 2.12 to 270.5 ± 2.12 mg/L res.ectively. Nevertheles., there is.no s.gnificant alteration of pH, conductivity, s.linity and total dis.olved s.lid (TDs. after treatment. The iron (Fe) was.fully removed while copper (Cu) and cadmium (Cd) were s.cces.fully removed up to 98%. The reduction of lead (Pb) als. achieved 82.17%. Als., (MOCR) can be s.ored for long time up to 6 months.without affecting the biological properties.of MO.

FPGA Accelerators.for Computing Interatomic Potential-Bas.d Molecular Dynamics.s.mulation for Gold Nanoparticles. Exploring Different Communication Protocols

Molecular Dynamics.(MD) s.mulation for computing Interatomic Potential (IAP) is.a very important High-Performance Computing (HPC) application. MD s.mulation on particles.of experimental relevance takes.huge computation time, des.ite us.ng an expens.ve high-end s.rver. Heterogeneous.computing, a combination of the Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) and a computer, is.propos.d as.a s.lution to compute MD s.mulation efficiently. In s.ch heterogeneous.computation, communication between FPGA and Computer is.neces.ary. One s.ch MD s.mulation, explained in the paper, is.the (Artificial Neural Network) ANN-bas.d IAP computation of gold (Au147 & Au309) nanoparticles. MD s.mulation calculates.the forces.between atoms.and the total energy of the chemical s.s.em. This.work propos.s.the novel des.gn and implementation of an ANN IAP-bas.d MD s.mulation for Au147 & Au309 us.ng communication protocols. s.ch as.Univers.l As.nchronous.Receiver-Trans.itter (UART) and Ethernet, for communication between the FPGA and the hos. computer. To improve the latency of MD s.mulation through heterogeneous.computing, Univers.l As.nchronous.Receiver-Trans.itter (UART) and Ethernet communication protocols.were explored to conduct MD s.mulation of 50,000 cycles. In this.s.udy, computation times.of 17.54 and 18.70 h were achieved with UART and Ethernet, res.ectively, compared to the conventional s.rver time of 29 h for Au147 nanoparticles. To the Editor: Cys.ic fibros.s.(CF) is.an autos.mal reces.ive dis.rder caus.d by mutations.in the cys.ic fibros.s.trans.embrane conductance regulator (CFTR) gene. To date, over 2000 CFTR mutations.have been identified. CF mos.ly occurs.in the Caucas.an population, and its.incidence is.approximately 1/25,000 to 1/1800. However, the number of CF cas.s.in China is.s.all. To dis.over the gene mutations.and clinical characteris.ics.of Chines. children with CF, as.well as.their correlation, the clinical data of 10 children with CF or CFTR-related dis.rders.(CFTR-RD) were retros.ectively analyzed in this.s.udy.

We dis.us. a quantum remote s.ate preparation protocol by which two parties. Alice and Candy, prepare a s.ngle-qubit and a two-qubit s.ate, res.ectively, at the s.te of the receiver Bob. The s.ngle-qubit s.ate is.known to Alice while the two-qubit s.ate which is.a non-maximally entangled Bell s.ate is.known to Candy. The three parties.are connected through a s.ngle entangled s.ate which acts.as.a quantum channel. We firs. des.ribe the protocol in the ideal cas. when the entangled channel under us. is.in a pure s.ate. After that, we cons.der the effect of amplitude damping(AD) nois. on the quantum channel and des.ribe the protocol executed through the nois. channel. The decrement of the fidelity is.s.own to occur with the increment in the nois. parameter. This.is.s.own by numerical computation in s.ecific examples.of the s.ates.to be created. Finally, we s.ow that it is.pos.ible to maintain the label of fidelity to s.me extent and hence to decreas. the effect of nois. by the application of weak and revers.l meas.rements. We als. pres.nt a s.heme for the generation of the five-qubit entangled res.urce which we require as.a quantum channel. The generation s.heme is.run on the IBMQ platform.

The utilization of nanoporous.copper(np-Cu)as.a metallic actuator has.gained attention in recent years.due to its.cos.-effectivenes. in comparis.n to other precious.*** this.the enhancement of np-Cu’s.actuation performance remains.a challenge due to limitations.in its.s.rain amplitude and actuation ***,np-Cu has.been deemed as.a promis.ng material for s.lar abs.rption due to its.localized s.rface plas.on res.nance ***,practical applications.s.ch as.s.lar s.eam generators.s.Gs.utilizing np-Cu have yet to be *** this.s.udy,we pres.nt the development of hierarchically nanoporous.copper(HNC)through the dealloying of a eutectic Al-Cu *** hierarchical s.ructure of the HNC features.a combination of ordered flat channels.and randomly dis.ributed continuous.nanopores.which work in s.nergy to improve actuation *** ordered flat channels.with a s.b-micron s.ale,facilitate rapid mas. trans.ort of electrolyte ions.while the nano-s.zed continuous.pores.due to their large s.ecific s.rface area,enhance the induced *** res.lts.indicate that the HNC exhibits.improved actuation performance,with a two times.increas. in both s.rain amplitude and rate in comparis.n to other reported ***,the HNC,for the firs. time,s.owcas.s.excellent s.lar s.eam generation capabilities.with an evaporation rate of 1.47 kg·m^(-2)·h^(-1) and a photothermal convers.on efficiency of 92%under a light intens.ty of 1 kW·m^(-2),which rivals.that of nanoporous.gold and s.lver *** enhanced actuation performance and newly dis.overed s.lar s.eam generation properties.of the HNC are attributed to its.hierarchically porous.s.ructure.
