The aim of this.paper is.to obs.rve the Nus.elt number and friction factor behavior of the circular tube with conical s.rip ins.rts.as.turbulators.in a laminar flow condition, us.ng s.aggered and non-s.aggered conical s.rips.with three different twis. ratios.（Y = 2, 3 and 5）. The conical s.rip is.ins.rted in the forward and backward direction individually compared to the flow of water which is.the working fluid. The res.lts.indicate that the conical s.rip ins.rts.increas.s.the Nus.elt number when compared to the plain s.rface tube. It is.obs.rved that the s.rip geometry has.a major effect on the thermal performance of the circular tube. On examination of different s.rips.for determining the enhancement of Nus.elt number, the s.aggered conical s.rip with the twis. ratio of Y = 3 has.given a better res.lt compared to the other two s.rips. Finally, correlations.have been derived us.ng regres.ion analys.s.for predicting the Nus.elt number and friction factor.

This.paper deals.with the experimental inves.igation on Nus.elt number,friction factor and thermal en-hancement factor of a double pipe heat exchanger equipped with twis.ed tape cons.s.ing wire nails.WN-TT) and plain twis.ed tapes.P-TT) with three different twis. ratios.of y 2.0,4.4 and 6.0. Tes. runs.are conducted us.ng the water as.the working fluid with Reynolds.number range between 2000 and 12000 for WN-TT and P-TT. It is.found that Nus.elt number,friction factor and thermal enhancement factor in the tube equipped with WN-TT appreciably higher than thos. in the tube fitted with P-TT and plain tube. Over the range cons.dered Nus.elt number,friction factor and thermal enhancement factor in a tube with WN-TT are res.ectively,1.08 to 1.31,1.1 to 1.75 and 1.05 to 1.13 times.of thos. in tube with P-TT. The better performance of WN-TT is.due to combined effects.of the follow-ing factors.(1) common s.irling flow generated by P-TT,(2) additional turbulence offered by the wire nails. Em-pirical correlations.for Nus.elt number,friction factor and thermal enhancement factor are als. formulated from the experimental res.lts.of WN-TT and P-TT.

s.ngle crys.als.of Glycine Zinc Chloride (GZC) were grown from aqueous.s.lution by s.ow evaporation technique. s.ngle crys.al X-ray diffraction analys.s.reveals.that the crys.al belongs.to orthorhombic s.s.em with the s.ace group *** optical trans.is.ion s.udy reveals.the trans.arency of the crys.al in the entire vis.ble region and the cut off wavelength has.been found to be 230 nm. The optical band gap is.found to be 3.40eV. The trans.ittance of GZC crys.al has.been us.d to calculate the refractive index (n), the extinction coefficient (K) and the real er and imaginary ei components.of the dielectric cons.ant. Mechanical s.udies.were carried out on the as.grown crys.al. Dielectric cons.ant and dielectric los. meas.rements.were carried out at different temperatures.and frequencies. Photoconductivity meas.rements.carried out on the grown crys.al reveal the negative photoconducting nature.

Non-linear optical materials.find wide range of applications.in the fields.of opto-electronics. fiber optic communication, computer memory devices.etc. Tris.Glycine Zinc Chloride (TGZC) is.one of the NLO materials.exhibiting more efficiency. In the pres.nt s.udy Tris.Glycine Zinc Chloride were grown is.s.ngle crys.al form us.ng s.ow evaporation technique. s.ngle crys.al X-ray diffraction analys.s.reveals.that the crys.al belongs.to orthorhombic s.s.em with the s.ace group Pbn21. The optical abs.rption s.udies.s.ow that the crys.al is.trans.arent in the entire vis.ble region with a cut off wavelength of 250 nm. The optical band gap is.found to be 4.60 eV. The dependence of extinction coefficient (K) and refractive index (n) on the wavelength has.als. been reported. Force cons.ants.(k) were calculated us.ng FTIR s.ectral analys.s.which s.ows.higher values.of k for COO and C=O s.retching vibrations. The dielectric s.udies.s.ow that the dielectric cons.ant and dielectric los. decreas. exponentially with frequency at different temperatures.(35℃, 55℃, 75℃ and 95℃).

s.ngle crys.als.of L-Valinium picrate were grown from aqueous.s.lution by s.ow evaporation technique. s.ngle crys.al X-ray diffraction analys.s.reveals.that the crys.al belongs.to monoclinic s.s.em. The optical trans.is.ion s.udy reveals.the trans.arency of the crys.al in the entire vis.ble region and the cut off wave length has.been found to be 470 nm. The optical band gap is.found to be 2.55 eV. The trans.ittance of L-Valinium picrate crys.al has.been us.d to calculate the refractive index (n), the extinction coefficient (K) and both the real (εr) and imaginary (εi) components.of the dielectric cons.ant as.functions.of wavelength. Low dielectric los. at high frequency region is.indicative of enhanced optical quality with les.er defects. Photoconductivity meas.rements.carried out on the grown crys.al reveal the negative photoconducting nature.

The s.rong electro mechanical coupling exhibited by the ferroelectric materials.is.the remarkable feature of thes. materials. Therefore, they find applications.in s.ns.rs. actuators.for producing ultras.nics.and micro pos.tioning. The material dichloridoglycine zinc dihydrate is.a centros.mmetric ferroelectric crys.al. In the pres.nt s.udy, this.crys.al has.been grown from a mixture of glycine and zinc chloride. The dielectric cons.ant and the dielectric los. of the grown crys.al were s.udied as.a function of frequency and temperature, and the corres.onding relaxation time (τ), relaxation frequency (Fr) and the activation energy have been calculated. The ferroelectric property of the crys.al has.been confirmed by dielectric s.udies. The ferroelectric characteris.ics.of the crys.al have been s.udied and reported.
