Prevalence of Gender-Bas.d Violence among s.x Workers.in Bangui, Central African Republic (CAR)

Background: Violence agains. women has.become an international public health and human rights.is.ue in recent decades. The violence s.ffered by s.x workers.is.of little interes. for res.arch, yet it cons.itutes.a major health and s.fety problem. We propos. to as.es. the extent of the phenomenon of gender-bas.d violence (GBV) among s.x workers.(s.s. in the city of Bangui in the CAR. Methodology: This.is.a des.riptive cros.-s.ctional epidemiological s.udy covering the period from July to October 2021 carried out among s.s.in Bangui, the capital of the CAR. Given that the s.s.as.ociation had only 159 members.in Bangui, an exhaus.ive s.mpling was.retained. Were included in the s.udy, any s. pres.nt during the data collection period and having given their written cons.nt. The parameters.s.udied were s.cio-demographic characteris.ics. age, s.x, res.dence, level of education, marital s.atus. and characteris.ics.linked to violence: the notion of violence during their profes.ional activity, the type of violence, the declaration and the declaration if neces.ary, the res.ons. and management of this.violence. The data collected was.analyzed us.ng Epi info vers.on 7 s.ftware. Res.lts. Of the 159 s.s.that counted the as.ociation, 108 had been included. The average age was.27.0 years.with extremes.of 14 and 46 years. The age groups.of 25 to 34 years.were the mos. repres.nted (43.5%). Fifty-s.x s.s.(51.9%) had reached the s.condary level. Unemployed s.s.were in the majority at 74.1%;s.xty-s.x (66) s.s.in our s.mple (61.1%) had already been victims.of violence during the exercis. of their activity s.xual violence was.the mos. repres.nted (28.5%) followed by verbal violence (22.4%). s.xty-eight (62.9%) wanted to s.op the profes.ional activity of s.s.and 93.1% would accept another income-generating activity in place of s.x work. Conclus.on: It is.neces.ary to s.pervis. s.s.and protect them within the framework of res.ect for human rights. rather than criminalizing them and the exploit

The intuitive fuzzy s.t has.found important application in decis.on-making and machine *** enrich and utilize the intuitive fuzzy s.t,this.s.udy des.gned and developed a deep neural network-bas.d glaucoma eye detection us.ng fuzzy difference equations.in the domain where the retinal images.*** image detections.are categorized as.normal eye recognition,s.s.ected glaucomatous.eye recognition,and glaucomatous.eye *** degrees.as.ociated with weighted values.are calculated to determine the level of concentration between the fuzzy partition and the retinal *** propos.d model was.us.d to diagnos. glaucoma us.ng retinal images.and involved utilizing the Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)and deep learning to identify the fuzzy weighted regularization between *** methodology was.us.d to clarify the input images.and make them adequate for the proces. of glaucoma *** objective of this.s.udy was.to propos. a novel approach to the early diagnos.s.of glaucoma us.ng the Fuzzy Expert s.s.em(FEs.and Fuzzy differential equation(FDE).The intens.ties.of the different regions.in the images.and their res.ective peak levels.were *** the peak regions.were identified,the recurrence relations.ips.among thos. peaks.were then *** partitioning was.done due to varying degrees.of s.milar and dis.imilar concentrations.in the *** and dis.imilar concentration levels.and s.atial frequency generated a thres.old image from the combined fuzzy matrix and *** dis.inguis.ed between a normal and abnormal eye condition,thus.detecting patients.with glaucomatous.eyes.

This.s.udy explores.how the chemical interaction between magnes.um hydride(MgH_(2))and the additive CrO_(3) influences.the hydrogen/lithium s.orage characteris.ics.of MgH_(2).We have obs.rved that a 5 wt.%CrO_(3) additive reduces.the dehydrogenation activation energy of MgH_(2) by 68 kJ/mol and lowers.the required dehydrogenation temperature by 80℃.CrO_(3) added MgH_(2) was.als. tes.ed as.an anode in an Li ion battery,and it is.pos.ible to deliver over 90%of the total theoretical capacity(2038 mAh/g).Evidence for improved revers.bility in the battery reaction is.found only after the incorporation of additives.with MgH_(2).In depth characterization s.udy by X-ray diffraction(XRD)technique provides.convincing evidence that the CrO_(3) additive interacts.with MgH_(2) and produces.Cr/MgO *** free energy analys.s.confirm the thermodynamic feas.bility of convers.on from MgH_(2)/CrO_(3) to MgO/Cr,which is.well s.pported by the identification of Cr(0)in the powder by X ray photoelectron s.ectros.opy(XPs.*** high res.lution trans.is.ion electron micros.opy(HRTEM)and energy dis.ers.ve s.ectros.opy(EDs.we found evidence for the pres.nce of 5 nm s.ze Cr nanocrys.als.on the s.rface of MgO rock s.lt *** is.als. convincing ground to cons.der that MgO rock s.lt accommodates.Cr in the *** obs.rvations.s.pport the argument that creation of active metal–metal dis.olved rock s.lt oxide interface may be vital for improving the reactivity of MgH_(2),both for the improved s.orage of hydrogen and lithium.

Impact of s.fety-Maintenance Practices.on the Overall Performance of an Indus.ry

The s.udy aims.to evaluate how s.fety-maintenance practices.affect the mechanical engineering indus.ry’s.overall performance in Ghana. The s.udy us.d a des.riptive s.rvey des.gn technique to as.ertain the type of maintenance engineering that was.practiced in Ghanaian mechanical engineering works.ops.at the time of the s.udy. In the mechanical engineering works.ops. res.ondents.provided both qualitative and quantitative data us.ng a variety of data collecting ins.ruments. with the quantitative approach being more common. The s.udy employed Kumas., Tamale, and Accra’s.mechanical engineering works.ops.as.a cas. s.udy. The number of mechanical engineering works.op enterpris.s.that made up the s.mple s.ze for the ques.ionnaire adminis.ration was.s.xty (60), chos.n at random from the AGI members.ip regis.ry. Primary data was.gathered us.ng interview guides.and ques.ionnaires. To analys. the data, des.riptive s.atis.ics.were employed. According to the s.udy’s.findings. mechanical engineering companies.combined different maintenance techniques.in order to bes. fit their organis.tional culture and equipment. Preventive s.ut-down, with a mean s.ore of 4.78 and RII = 0.98, placing firs. (1s.) in the Likert rating order, is.the mos. frequently us.d maintenance s.s.em by res.ondents. The maintenance procedures.employed by mechanical engineering organis.tions.were influenced not only by their equipment and organis.tional culture but als. by other factors.s.ch as.cos., pers.nnel expertis. and external partners.ips.

Characterizing Rainfall of the Great Kei River Catchment, Eas.ern Cape Province, s.uth Africa

This.s.udy s.eks.to unders.and long-term changes.of rainfall for the Great Kei River catchment (GKRc) in s.uth Africa for water res.urces.management and planning. Monthly and annual rainfall time s.ries.data from 1950 to 2017 for 11 rainfall gauging s.ations.are analyzed us.ng various.s.atis.ical methods. Data obtained from s.uth African Weather s.rvices.(s.Ws. was.quality controlled to enable the us. of Mann-Kendall (MK), Theil s.n’s.method, Precipitation Concentration Index (PCI), among others.to characteris. rainfall. Rainfall in the catchment is.s.as.nal (particularly wet in s.ring and s.mmer) and highly variable with a PCI of 17.2. Years.which received rain above and below the mean inter-annually were 46% and 54%, res.ectively. s.as.nality trends.als. confirm that the GKRc has.been progres.ively receiving les. rainfall s.nce 1950, es.ecially in the autumn. The methods.are novel in unders.anding his.orical and exis.ing trends. variability and characteris.ics.that control fres.water availability in this.catchment.

Legume Green Manure and Intercropping for High Biomas. s.rghum Production

Before the advent of cheap, s.nthetic fertilizers. legumes.were commonly us.d as.green manure crops.for their ability to fix atmos.heric nitrogen (N). A three-year s.udy at Overton, TX examined legume integration into high-biomas. s.rghum (s.rghum bicolor L.) production s.s.ems.on a Lilbert loamy fine s.nd recently cultivated after a fertilized bermudagras. [Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers.] pas.ure. In this.s.lit-s.lit plot des.gn, ‘Dixie’ crims.n clover (Trifolium incarnatum L.) and ‘Iron and Clay’ cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L.) were integrated into a high-biomas. s.rghum production s.s.em to evaluate impacts.on N concentration, C concentration, and yield of high-biomas. s.rghum and their impacts.on s.il total N and s.il organic carbon (s.C). Main plots.were s.lit into crims.n clover green manure (CLGM) and winter fallow (FALL) followed by three s.b-plots.s.lit into warm-s.as.n crop rotations. cowpea green manure (CPGM), cowpea-s.rghum intercrop (CPs.), and s.rghum monocrop (s.RG). Three N fertilizer treatments.(0, 45, 90 kg N∙ha−1) were randomized and applied as.s.b-s.b plots. The CLGM increas.d (P s.rghum biomas. yield (16.5 t DM∙ha−1) 28% in year three but had no effect in the firs. two years. The CPs. treatment reduced s.rghum yield up to 62% compared to s.RG;whereas.CPGM increas.d s.rghum yield 56% and 18% the two years.following cowpea incorporation. Rate of N fertilizer had no effect on s.rghum biomas. yield. Decreas. in s.C and s.il N over time indicated mineralization of organic N and may explain why no N fertilizer res.ons. was.obs.rved in s.rghum biomas. yield. Cowpea s.owed s.rong potential as.a green manure crop but proved to be too competitive for s.cces.ful intercropping in high-biomas. s.rghum production s.s.ems.

This.res.arch s.udy explored the levels.of bas. s.atus.metals.in s.il s.diments.and particulate matter in the wellington indus.rial es.ate location;the main objectives.were to: 1) determine s.dium and potas.ium, 2) determine calcium and magnes.um, 3) determine available iron. The following hypothes.s.were put forward;Hs.b>0s.b>s.b>as.b>: there is.no s.gnificant difference in the concentration levels.between Ca and Mg in the s.udy area, Hs.b>1s.b>s.b>as.b>: there is.s.gnificant difference in the concentration levels.between Ca and Mg in the s.udy area, Hs.b>0s.b>s.b>bs.b>: there is.no s.gnificant difference in the concentration levels.between Na and K in the s.udy area, Hs.b>1s.b>s.b>bs.b>: there is.s.gnificant difference in the concentration levels.between Na and K in the s.udy area. s.x locations.were us.d to collect s.mples.with the aid of s.oop and gravel free auger (at varying depths.of 0 - 5 cm and 5 - 10 cm) which are Wellington Indus.rial Es.ate Area 1 (WIEL 1), (WIEL 2), (WIEL 3), (WIEL 4), (WIEL 5), (WIEL 6);the s.mples.were given laboratory treatment. Flame photometer, EDTA, and s.ectrophotometer were us.d in the determinations.of s.dium and potas.ium, calcium and magnes.um, and available iron res.ectively. The res.lts.indicated that levels.of potas.ium were in medium range (moderately high);s.dium levels.were generally low when compared to Brook’s.clas.ification table. Levels.of calcium were generally low and thos. of magnes.um were moderate bas.d on Brook’s.table of clas.ification. Levels.of available iron which fall within the range of Quijano-Guerta (2003) were high;this.implies.s.ch levels.can lead to toxicity. In all locations. there was.decreas. in the levels.of each metal in the s.mples.with (5 - 10 cm) depth.
