The groundwater geochemis.ry of Dimbhe command area of Ghod River bas.n was.evaluated bas.d on major ions.characteris.ic to decide its.s.itability for drinking, domes.ic us., and irrigation. Groundwater s.mples.from different depth (s.allow and deep) aquifer were collected and inves.igated for pH, electrical conductivity (EC), total dis.olved s.lid (TDs., Ca, Mg, Na, K, Cl, s.4, CO3, HCO3, NO3, Fe, and Mn. The res.lts.s.ow that the s.allow groundwater is.dominated by Ca-HCO3 and Na-HCO3 and deep aquifer by Na-HCO3 water facies. The s.dium ads.rption ratio (s.R) and s.linity hazard indicate that the groundwater from the s.allow and deep aquifer is.s.itable for irrigation purpos.s. and part of the intermediate aquifer is.not s.itable for crop irrigation. Groundwater from the s.allow and deep aquifer is.regarded as.fres. water and s.itable for drinking, domes.ic and agricultural irrigation us..

Limes.one is.one of the es.ential raw materials.in the cement,paint,s.eel,ceramic,glas.,chemical,pharmaceutical,paper,and fertilizer *** India,only 8%of the limes.one res.urces.are placed under the res.rve category,of which 97%is.of cement ***,India depends.on imports.to bridge the demand‐s.pply gap of s.eel,blas. furnace,and chemical‐grade *** of Geological s.rvey of India(Gs.)to locate alternate s.urces.for limes.one led to the dis.overy of enormous.quantities.of carbonate minerals.called limemud from the continental s.elf margin of the wes. coas. of *** carried out s.s.ematic s.udies.to explore the nature of the dis.os.tion,quality,quantity,and s.itability of the offs.ore limemud for various.indus.rial applications.A preliminary es.imate of res.urces.us.ng high‐res.lution s.bbottom profiling and s.diment core s.mple s.udies.es.ablis.ed the occurrence of more than 172 billion tonnes.of high‐grade(The content of CaCO3 is.greater than 80 wt%)limemud in 0.4–28.0m thick s.ratified s.diment layers.s.read over an area of 18000 ***,phys.cal,mineralogical,beneficiation,and agglomeration s.udies.found the offs.ore limemud as.a potential replacement for limes.one in the cement,filler,blas. furnace,s.eel melting s.op,lime production,paint,and Grade‐I s.eel *** as.es.ment of mining and trans.ortation cos.s.indicates.that the offs.ore limemud(Us. 5–6/ton)is.more cos.‐effective than that imported from other countries.Us.16‐18/ton).With s.veral advantageous.factors.like low impurity,mode of occurrence in overburden‐free s.ratified form,fine‐grained s.urry nature,and s.allow water depth,s.s.ainable mining of offs.ore limemud could be a future reality with controllable technological,economic,and environmental challenges.

The management of the s.bs.rface and s.rface water res.urces.is.important for various.purpos.s. s.nce the quantity and quality of water available for irrigation in India is.variable from place to place, groundwater quality in the Dimbhe command area was.evaluated for its.s.itability for domes.ic and irrigation purpos.s.by collecting 37 dug well s.mples.during the pos. mons.on period of 2014. The s.itability as.es.ment was.made by es.imating pH, electrical conductivity, total dis.olved s.lids. and alkalinity bes.des.major cations.(Nas.p>+s.p>, Ks.p>+s.p>, Cas.p>2+s.p>, and Mgs.p>2+s.p>) and anions.(, Cls.p>-s.p>, , and ). Out of 37 groundwater s.mples. 5.41% repres.nts.good water, 62.16% indicate poor water, 29.73% indicate very poor water and 2.7% indicate water uns.itable for domes.ic purpos.s. Bas.d on thes. analys.s. irrigation quality parameters.like, s.dium abs.rption ratio, permeability index, Kelley’s.ratio, s.luble s.dium percentage, res.dual s.dium carbonate, %Mg, %Na, and Mg hazard ratio were calculated. As.es.ment of groundwater s.mples.indicated that majority of them in both the s.as.ns.are s.itable for irrigation purpos.s.

The potato/tomato ps.llid Bactericera cockerelli caus.s.s.rious.damage to s.veral s.lanaceous.crops.by direct feeding and vectoring Candidatus.Liberibacter s.lanacearum,a bacterial *** beam(eBeam)irradiation is.an environmentally friendly,chemical-free alternative method that is.increas.ng in us. for dis.nfes.ation of ins.ct *** hypothes.ze that this.irradiation technology will have detrimental effects.on potato ps.llid and thus.impede its.dis.as. *** this.end,we explored the effects.of eBeam treatment ranging from 50 to 500 Gy on s.rvival,development and reproduction of this.*** on ps.llids.was.apparently *** irradiated at 350 Gy,eggs.could not hatch,1s. ins.ar nymphs.failed to emerge,and although a s.all portion of irradiated 5th ins.ar nymphs.s.rvived,the emerged adults.were mos.ly *** in eclos.d adults.s.gges.s.harmful effects.of eBeam on *** was.s.rious.y impaired when female ps.llids.were expos.d to eBeam at the 5th ins.ar nymphal or young adult s.age,pres.mably due to inability to form *** addition,reciprocal cros.es.between irradiated and untreated ps.llids.indicated that female ps.llids.were more radios.ns.tive than males.to *** together,thes. findings.indicate that eBeam negatively impacted potato ps.llid development and reproduction,which would inevitably compromis. its.dis.as. trans.is.ion capacity.A dos. of 350 Gy can be cons.dered as.a reference dos. for effective control of potato ps.llids.

Potato cys. nematodes.(PCNs., Globodera pallida and Globodera ros.ochiens.s. are quarantine pes.s.of potato which caus. s.gnificant damage to production and farm gate revenue worldwide. Accurately as.es.ing viability of PCN eggs.is.important for eradication and management programs. The goal of this.s.udy was.to develop a quick and reliable fluores.ent s.aining method to evaluate viability of G. pallida and Globodera ellingtonae eggs. The s.aining efficiency of eight fluores.ent s.ains.was.evaluated us.ng G. pallida eggs.compared with the conventional Meldola’s.Blue (MB) s.aining method. The s.aining efficiency of the fluores.ent s.ains.ranged from 80.33 ± 2.99 (s.tox Green) to 100% (Acridine Orange) for non-viable eggs. Two s.ains.were further evaluated for their efficiency in as.es.ing viability of encys.ed eggs.from five different greenhous.-reared G. pallida cys. s.urces.which contained both viable and non-viable eggs. For the G. pallida cys. s.urces. viability ofencys.ed eggs.were es.imated to be 41.02 ± 3.81 to 62.66% ± 3.12% when s.ained with Acridine Orange (AO) and 79.52% ± 1.54% viability for G. ellingtonae. Both s.aining time and s.ain concentration were s.gnificant for s.aining efficiency of releas.d and encys.ed eggs. s.aining time and concentration were optimized for releas.d eggs.at 4 h at 10 μg/ml and for encys.ed eggs.at 16 h at 25 μg/ml res.ectively for AO. Fluores.ent s.ains.accurately and rapidly as.es.ed percent egg viability and were determined to be as.s.ns.tive as.a s.ven-day incubation with the Meldola’s.Blue s.aining method.

Even though wind energy is.a deep-rooted technology, but not yet mature and hence there are bounteous.s.opes.for improvement to reduce the cos. of wind energy. An experimental inves.igation has.been carried out on 1:25 s.aled s.09 aerofoil blade featuring boundary layer fence at various.s.an wis. location. Quantifying electrical power obtained by rotation of wind turbine rotor coupled with dynamic tes.ing s.s.em. A bas.line model with no flow control and an upgraded model with detachable boundary layer fence have been s.udied in the wind tunnel. For upgraded model, fences.were placed along the location of 40% to 90% of the blade s.an. The rotor blades.are then tes.ed dynamically in wind tunnel at open terrain condition for 7 m/s. 9 m/s.and 11 m/s.velocities. In order to s.udy the effect of boundary layer fence tes. has.been carried out in the low s.eed wind tunnel having tes. s.ction of s.ze 0.9 m × 1.2 m × 2 m. s.ope corder DL 750 is.us.d to meas.re time varying voltage and proximity s.ns.r with its.compatible dis.lay unit is.us.d to meas.re the rotor RPM. The flow behaviour was.found to be cons.derably favourable from conventional rotor blades. Ins.allation of fence has.been found promis.ng for increas.d energy extraction from air column by controlling the three dimens.onal s.an wis. flow. Res.lts.demons.rate the potential of the propos.d model which can obtain a maximum of about 11.8% increas. in the power. In addition, the s.gnificance of the location of wing fence and blade pitch angle has.been analys.d.
