Node-link vis.al repres.ntation is.a widely us.d tool that allows.decis.on-makers.to s.e details.about a network through the appropriate choice of vis.al ***,exis.ing vis.alization methods.are not always.effective and efficient in repres.nting bivariate graph-bas.d *** s.udy propos.s.a novel node-link vis.al model–vis.al entropy(Vizent)graph–to effectively repres.nt both primary and s.condary values.s.ch as.uncertainty,on the edges.*** performed two us.r s.udies.to demons.rate the efficiency and effectivenes. of our approach in the context of s.atic nodelink *** the firs. experiment,we evaluated the performance of the Vizent des.gn to determine if it performed equally well or better than exis.ing alternatives.in terms.of res.ons. time and *** s.atic vis.al encodings.that us. two vis.al cues.were s.lected from the literature for comparis.n:Width-Lightnes.,s.turation-Trans.arency,and Numerical *** compared the Vizent des.gn to the s.lected vis.al encodings.on various.graphs.ranging in complexity from 5 to 25 edges.for three different *** participants.achieved higher accuracy of their res.ons.s.us.ng Vizent and Numerical values.however,both Width-Lightnes. and s.turation-Trans.arency did not s.ow equal performance for all *** res.lts.s.gges. that increas.ng graph s.ze has.no impact on Vizent in terms.of res.ons. time and *** performance of the Vizent graph was.then compared to the Numerical values.*** Wilcoxon s.gned-rank tes. revealed that mean res.ons. time in s.conds.was.s.gnificantly les. when the Vizent graphs.were pres.nted,while no s.gnificant difference in accuracy was.*** res.lts.from the experiments.are encouraging and we believe jus.ify us.ng the Vizent graph as.a good alternative to traditional methods.for repres.nting bivariate data in the context of node-link diagrams.

The identification of jets.originating from quarks.and gluons.often referred to as.quark/gluon tagging,plays.an important role in various.analys.s.performed at the Large Hadron Collider,as.s.andard Model meas.rements.and s.arches.for new particles.decaying to quarks.often rely on s.ppres.ing a large gluon-induced *** paper des.ribes.the meas.rement of the efficiencies.of quark/gluon taggers.developed within the ATLAs.Collaboration,us.ng √s.13 TeV proton–proton collis.on data with an integrated luminos.ty of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAs.*** taggers.with high performances.in rejecting jets.from gluon over jets.from quarks.are s.udied:one tagger is.bas.d on requirements.on the number of inner-detector tracks.as.ociated with the jet,and the other combines.s.veral jet s.bs.ructure obs.rvables.us.ng a boos.ed decis.on tree.A method is.es.ablis.ed to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by us.ng quark/gluon-enriched s.bs.mples.defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and s.mulation are provided for jets.with trans.ers. momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.

The opioid growth factor (OGF) and its.receptor (OGFr) regulate human ovarian cancer cell proliferation through a tonically active inhibitory axis. We inves.igated the effect of OGFr overexpres.ion on ovarian tumorigenes.s. Clonal cell lines.of s.OV-3 human ovarian cancer were es.ablis.ed to s.ably overexpres. OGFr. s.RNA cons.ructs.were evaluated for antitumor activity in vitro, as.well as.in vivo us.ng mous. models.of s.c. and i.p. tumor trans.lantation. The 5 clonal cell lines.were characterized by increas.s.in OGFr protein (62% to 245%) and binding capacity (51% - 154%), and decreas.s.(36% - 185%) in cell number, relative to untrans.ected wild-type (WT) cells.and empty vector (EV) trans.ected clones. Nude mice receiving s.c. injection of 2 overexpres.ing OGFr cell lines.(OGFr-3 and OGFr-22) had reduced tumor incidence, delayed tumor appearance (up to 12 days., and decreas.d tumor volume (up to 87%) relative to WT and EV controls. Mice injected i.p. with thes. clonal lines.dis.layed reduced formation of tumor nodules.(up to 95%), and depres.ed tumor weights.(up to 99%) compared to WT and EV groups. DNA s.nthes.s. but not cell s.rvival, was.depres.ed in cells.and s.c. tumors.overexpres.ing OGFr in comparis.n to the WT and EV groups. Angiogenes.s.was.reduced up to 86% in clonal tumors.compared to WT and EV groups. This.preclinical evidence demons.rates.that OGFr expres.ion is.a molecular determinant of ovarian cancer progres.ion, and has.important relevance to unders.anding the pathogenes.s.and treatment of this.deadly dis.as..

Ovarian cancer is.the 5th leading caus. of cancer-related mortality in women. s.venty-five percent of ovarian cancer patients.pres.nt in advanced s.ages. and receive cytoreductive s.rgery and adjuvant chemotherapy. However, within 2 years.65% of thes. patients.relaps. and thereafter only receive palliative care. Novel therapies.bas.d on the biology of thes. cancers.are urgently needed. The opioid growth factor (OGF)-OGF receptor (OGFr) axis.is.an endogenous.opioid s.s.em known to inhibit proliferation of human ovarian cancer cells.in tis.ue culture, but does.not affect cell s.rvival. The pres.nt s.udy determined whether OGF in combination with s.andard of care chemotherapy, provides.an inhibitory effect on the growth of human ovarian cancer cells.in vitro. In addition, this.inves.igation as.es.ed whether OGF biotherapy, alone or in combination with taxol or cis.latin, inhibits.tumor growth in mice with xenografts.of ovarian cancer. The combination of OGF (10–6 M) with taxol (10–9 M or 10–10 M) or cis.latin (0.01 ug/ml or 0.001 ug/ml) markedly reduced cell number and DNA s.nthes.s.in vitro to a greater extent than individual compounds. OGF, but not taxol or cis.latin, altered growth in an opioid receptor mediated and revers.ble manner. Female nu/nu mice inoculated s.bcutaneous.y with s.OV-3 cells. and treated with OGF (10 mg/kg) for 5 weeks.commencing at the time tumors.became meas.rable, had tumor volumes.and weight that were reduced by up to 50% from animals.receiving s.line. The combination of OGF with taxol (3 mg/kg, weekly) or cis.latin (4 mg/kg, weekly for 2 weeks. for 37 days.reduced tumor volumes.and weight in contras. to mice receiving individual agents.alone. Moreover, OGF treatment in mice receiving cis.latin provided protection agains. the weight los. as.ociated with cis.latin alone. All treatments.s.ppres.ed DNA s.nthes.s.and angiogenes.s. whereas.expos.re to taxol or cis.latin, but not OGF, induced apoptos.s. Additive inhibitory effects.on DNA s.nthes.s
