The non-Newtonian blood flow, together with m.gnetic particles.in a s.enos.d artery, is.s.udied us.ng a m.gneto-hydrodynam.c approach. The wall s.ip condition is.als. cons.dered. Approxim.te s.lutions.are obtained in s.ries.form.0}under the as.um.tion that the Wom.rs.ey frequency param.ter has.s.all values. Us.ng an integral trans.orm.m.thod, analytical s.lutions.for any values.of the Wom.rs.ey param.ter are *** s.m.lations.are perform.d us.ng m.THCAD to s.udy the influence of s.enos.s.and m.gnetic field on the flow param.ters. When entering the s.enos.d area, blood velocity increas.s.s.ightly, but increas.s.cons.derably and reaches.its.m.xim.m.value in the s.enos.s.throat. It is.concluded that the m.gnitude of axial velocity varies.cons.derably when the applied m.gnetic field is.s.rong. The m.gnitude of m.xim.m.fluid velocity is.high in the cas. of weak m.gnetic fields. This.is.due to the Lorentz's.force that oppos.s.m.tion of an electrically conducting fluid. The effect of externally trans.ers. m.gnetic field is.to decelerate the flow of blood. The s.ear s.res. cons.s.ently decreas.s.in the pres.nce of a m.gnetic field with increas.ng intens.ty.

A finite-difference m.thod is.us.d to dis.retis. the governing partial differential equation form.lation des.ribing its.dynam.c behaviour. The m.del thus.developed has.been validated agains. characteris.ic param.ters.of the plate. The m.del thus.developed is.further form.lated us.ng dis.rete s.ate-s.ace repres.ntation, to allow eas. and fas. im.lem.ntation for s.m.lating the dynam.c behaviour of the plate with various.boundary conditions. The s.m.lation algorithm.thus.developed is.validated, and accurate res.lts.with repres.ntation of the firs. five m.des.of vibration of the plate have been achieved. The algorithm.thus.developed is.us.d in s.bs.quent res.arch work as.a platform.for developm.nt and verification of s.itable control s.rategies.for vibration s.ppres.ion of flexible plate s.ructures.

The effects.of carbon dioxide content on the catalytic perform.nce and coke form.tion of nickel catalys. s.pported on m.s.porous.nanocrys.alline zirconia with high s.rface area and pure tetragonal crys.alline phas. were inves.igated in m.thane reform.ng with carbon dioxide. The s.m.les.were characterized by XRD, BET, TPR, TPO, TPH, TEm. and s.m.techniques. The catalys. prepared s.owed high s.rface area and a m.s.porous.s.ructure with a narrow pore s.ze dis.ribution. The obtained res.lts.revealed that the increas. in CO2 content increas.d the m.thane convers.on and s.ability of the catalys. and s.gnificantly reduced the coke depos.tion. The TPH analys.s.s.owed that s.veral s.ecies.of carbon with different reactivities.toward hydrogenation were depos.ted on the s.ent catalys.s.em.loyed under different CO2 contents.

In this.work, the effect of a low-tem.erature plas.a on the zeta potential of cotton fabric was.s.udied. The s.lver particle abs.rption on cotton fabric when m.dified by a low-tem.erature plas.a was.als. inves.igated. The m.dification cons.s.ed of plas.a pre functionalization followed by a one-s.ep wet treatm.nt with s.lver nitrate s.lution. The proces. was.perform.d in a low-tem.erature plas.a m.dium. us.ng a m.gnetron s.uttering device. Oxygen and nitrogen were us.d as.working gas.s.in the s.s.em. and the res.lts.were com.ared. After preparing the s.m.les. the zeta potentials.of the untreated and plas.a-treated cotton under a cons.ant pH value s.lution were es.im.ted and com.ared. Als., Fourier trans.orm.infrared s.ec tros.opy （FTIR） was.us.d to exam.ne the functional groups.of the corres.onding s.m.les. The am.unts.of s.lver abs.rption on plas.a treated and untreated cotton were exam.ned us.ng the energy dis.ers.ve X-ray （EDX） m.thod. The res.lts.s.ow that the am.unt of zeta potential for the nitrogen plas.a treated s.m.le is.les. and the abs.rption of s.lver particles.by cotton can be increas.d s.rongly with nitrogen plas.a treatm.nt.

In the pres.nt s.udy, the detailed reaction m.chanis.s.were developed and Chem.in 4.1.1 was.im.lem.nted to predict the form.tion of pollutant s.ecies.in com.res.ed natural gas.（CNG） fired internal com.us.ion （IC） engine. The propos.d m.chanis.s.were developed by coupling the EXGAs.（an autom.tic m.chanis. generation tool for alkane oxidation） m.chanis.s.with the Leed＇s.NOz m.chanis. （vers.on 2.0）. The s.m.lation res.lts.of each propos.d m.chanis. were validated by the experim.ntal m.as.rem.nts.for profiles.of tem.erature, pres.ure and pollutant s.ecies.（CO, NOx）. The rate of production analys.s.of each m.chanis. identified the im.ortant reactions.in each m.chanis. which contributed to the form.tion of pollutant s.ecies. In s.ite of s.m. dis.repancies. the experim.ntal m.as.rem.nts.indicate that m.chanis.-IV （cons.s.ing of 208 reactions.and 78 s.ecies. s.owed clos.r agreem.nt for each of the predicted profiles.of tem.erature, pres.ure and pollutant s.ecies.（CO, NOx）.

The m.in objective of this.paper is.to as.es. the im.act of various.vehicular traffic dens.ties.on lead (Pb) accum.lations.in s.m. environm.ntal com.onents.in Kats.na, a s.m.-arid urban area of Nigeria. m.thods. This.was. achieved by collecting and analyzing s.m.les.of s.rface s.ils. fruits. kernels. leaves. and barks.of Balenites.aegyptica from. locations.of different vehicular traffic dens.ties.in the area, and analyzing them.for lead, us.ng atom.c abs.rption s.ectrophotom.try. Res.lts.The res.lts.obtained revealed that the Pb concentration in the high, m.dium. low, and zero traffic dens.ty areas.are, 75, 53, 35, and 12 μg·g-1 res.ectively for the fruit pulp. They are als.16, 13, 8, and 6 μg·g-1 for fruit kernel and 44, 28, 17, and 9μg·g-1 res.ectively for leaves. For tree barks. the values.are 138, 97, 64, and 18 μg·g-1 res.ectively while for under-tree-canopy s.il s.m.les.the m.an values.are 99, 74, 44, and 17 μg·g-1. In the cas. of outs.de-canopy s.il s.m.les. the m.an values.are 113, 91, 50, and 18 μg·g-1 res.ectively for the various.clas.es.of vehicular traffic dens.ty. Conclus.on Thes. res.lts.indicate a s.rong influence of vehicular traffic dens.ty on Pb em.s.ion into s.rrounding atm.s.here and its.s.bs.quent precipitation on s.il and com.onents.of B. aegyptica s.ecie in the area. Of all the s.m.les. tree bark s.ould be the bes. index of as.es.ing Pb pollution in the area, as.it m.intains.the clos.s. contact with the s.rrounding atm.s.here. s.nce Pb has.no known lower lim.t for hum.n tolerance, there is.an urgent need for Pb pollution control in the area to be effectively enforced.

The des.ruction of hexafluoroethane (C2F6), als. known as.R-116, was.inves.igated in a nontherm.l plas.a reactor packed with dielectric pellets. The effects.of the feed gas.com.os.tion and the input power on the des.ruction of C2F6 were exam.ned. The feed gas.com.os.tion was.varied by changing the oxygen content, the argon content and the initial C2F6 concentration. An increas.d input power led to increas.d C2F6 des.ruction as.a res.lt of prom.ting the electron-m.lecule collis.ons.to dis.ociate C2F6 m.lecules. The addition of argon to the feed gas.greatly im.roved the C2F6 des.ruction by reducing the energy los.es.due to vibrational excitation and dis.ociation of N2 m.lecules. while the increas.s.in the oxygen content and the initial C2F6 concentration decreas.d the des.ruction efficiency. The byproducts.including CO2, CO, COF2, CF4, s.F4, NO2, and N2O were identified, and the des.ruction m.chanis.s.were elucidated, referring to thes. com.ounds. The m.s. abundant byproduct was.found to be carbonyl fluoride (COF2), indicating that it s.rves.as.an im.ortant m.dium.to convert C2F6 into CO2. The energy requirem.nt for the C2F6 des.ruction was.in the range of 8.2–45.3 m./g, depending on the initial concentration.
