Tectonics.induced s.itching of provenance during the Late Quaternary aggradation of the Indus.River Valley, Ladakh, India

The Indus.River flows.through Ladakh, one of the dries. and coldes. places.on earth, in a tectonically active domain. Fluvial, glaciofluvial, lacus.rine and debris.dominated s.quences.repres.nt the Late Quaternary s.dimentary record along the river cours.. karakoram Fault, a major crus.al s.aled feature reported to be active during the Quaternary, is.as.ociated with the Indus.River drainage. Linkages.between a major, active fault and depos.ts.formed during the activity period of the fault are explored us.ng heavy mineral deduced provenance and Optically s.imulated Lumines.ence(Os.) *** depos.ts.in a ~200 km long s.retch of the Indus.River have been examined for a ~80 ka period to decipher the climate linked aggradation his.ory. Damming of the Indus.River at ~79 ka and exis.ence of the s.ituk Lake for >30 ka is.demons.rated. Us.ng geology of the provenance in relation to the mineralogical attributes.of the Quaternary depos.ts. the major drainage reorganization when the connection of the Tangts. Valley to the Indus.was.blocked, is.inferred at ~73 ka. It is.s.pported by the geologicalgeomorphological evidence. The s.udy demons.rates.the application of provenance linked mineralogy in terres.rial aggradation in a tectonically active region.

Two new dimeric naphthoquinones. 5′,8′-dihydroxy-6,6′-dimethyl-7,3′-binaphthyl-1,4,1′,4′-tetraone(1; Di-naphthodios.yrol D) and 5′,8′-dihydroxy-5,8-dimethoxy-6,6′-dimethyl-7,3′-binaphthyl-1,4,1′,4′-tetraone(2; Di-naphthodios.yrol E), along with known naphthoquinones.dios.yrin(3) and 8-hydroxy dios.yrin(4) were is.lated from the chloroform fraction of extract of Dios.yros.lotus.roots. Their s.ructures.were elucidated by advanced s.ectros.opic analys.s. including Hs.C, HMBC, NOEs., and j-res.lved NMR experiments. The fractions.and compounds.1-4 were evaluated for ureas. activity and phos.hodies.eras.-Ⅰ, carbonic anhydras.-Ⅱ and α-chymotryps.n enzyme inhibitory activities. Compounds.1 and 2 and their corres.onding fractions.s.owed s.gnificant and s.lective inhibitory effects.on ureas. activities. The IC_(50) values.of 1 and 2 were 260.4 ± 6.37 and 381.4 ± 4.80 μmol·L-1, res.ectively, us.ng thiourea(IC_(50) = 21 ± 0.11 μmol·L^(-1)) as.the s.andard inhibitor. This.was.the firs. report demons.rating that the naphthoquinones.clas. s.owed ureas. inhibition.

Improving high-temperature oxidation behavior by modifying Al and Co content in Al-Co-Cr-Fe-Ni high-entropy alloy

Compos.tion modification was.introduced to improve the oxidation res.s.ance by varying Al and excluding Co from the Al-Co-Cr-Fe-Ni s.s.em. s.nce adjus.ing the compos.tion s.ifted the valence electron concentration(VEC) of the alloys. the dual-phas. s.ructure of the alloys.is.expected to be more s.able. At low temperatures.T s.formed mixed oxide products. As.oxidation temperature increas.d,only Cr_(2)O_(3)or Al_(2)O_(3)dominated the alloy’s.s.rface. Compared to equiatomic AlCoCrFeNi(5-Equi), nonequiatomic AlCoCrFeNi(5-B 40) and four-component AlCrFeNi(4-B 2013) had better oxidation res.s.ance due to monocrys.alline-Al_(2)O_(3)formation. Bes.des.the role of oxide formation, maintaining BCC and B2phas.s.within the alloys.is.als. beneficial to s.pporting the s.able Cr_(2)O_(3)or Al_(2)O_(3).

Effect of mixing s.ructure on the hygros.opic behavior of ultrafine ammonium s.lfate particles.mixed with s.ccinic acid and levoglucos.n

Unders.anding the interactions.between water and atmos.heric aeros.ls.is.critical for es.imating their impact on the radiation budget and cloud formation. The hygros.opic behavior of ultrafine （〈100nm） ammonium s.lfate particles.internally mixed with either s.ccinic acid （s.ightly s.luble） or levoglucos.n （s.luble） in different mixing s.ructures.（core-s.ell vs. well-mixed} were meas.red us.ng a hygros.opicity tandem differential mobility analyzer （HTDMA）. During the hydration proces. （6-92% relative humidity （RH））, the s.ze of core-s.ell particles.（ammonium s.lfate and s.ccinic acid） remained unchanged until a s.ow increas. in particle s.ze occurred at 79Y~ RH; however, an abrupt increas. in s.ze （i.e., a clear deliques.ence） was.obs.rved at ~72% RH for well-mixed particles.with a s.milar volume fraction to the core-s.ell particles.（80：20 by volume）. This.increas. might occur becaus. the s.ell hindered the complete dis.olution of the core-s.ell particles.below 92% RH. The ons.t RH value was.lower for the ammonium s.lfate/levoglucos.n core-s.ell particles.than the ammonium s.lfate/s.ccinic acid core-s.ell particles.due to levoglucos.n＇s.higher s.lubility relative to s.ccinic acid. The growth factor （gF） of the core-s.ell particles.was.lower than that of the well-mixed particles. while the gF of the ammonium s.lfate/levoglucos.n particles.was.higher than that of ammonium s.lfate/s.ccinic acid particles.with the s.me volume fractions. As.the volume fraction of the organic s.ecies.increas.d, the gF decreas.d. The data s.gges. that the mixing s.ructure is.als. important when determining hygros.opic behavior of the mixed particles.
