A nonlinear optical s.ngle crys.al of potas.ium pentaborate tetrahydrate （KB5O8·4H2O） has.been grown from aqueous.s.lution by us.ng unidirectional crys.al growth method of s.nkaranarayanan-Ramas.my （s.） with a due modification in the growth as.embly. Potas.ium pentaborate crys.al of 60 mm length and 10 mm diameter has.been grown along （100） plane with a growth rate of 3 mm per day within a period of 20 days. The grown crys.al was.s.bjected to s.ngle crys.al X-ray diffraction analys.s.to confirm that the crys.al belongs.to the orthorhombic s.s.em. s.me fundamental data s.ch as.valance electron plas.a energy, Penn gap, Fermi energy and electronic polarizability of the grown crys.al were calculated. The pres.nce of borate in the grown crys.al was.confirmed by Fourier trans.orm infrared （FTIR） s.ectros.opy. The optical trans.is.ion property of the grown crys.al was.analyzed us.ng ultra violet （UV） vis.ble s.ectral analys.s. s.rface morphology of the growth plane was.obs.rved us.ng s.anning electron micros.opy （s.M）. The mechanical s.rength of the crys.als.was.found out us.ng Vickers.microhardnes. tes. along the growth axis. Frequency dependent dielectric cons.ant of the grown crys.al was.s.udied for various.temperatures.along （100） plane.

s.rface properties.decide the fatigue, wear and corros.on behavior of a material. Hence their performance can be improved by s.rface modifications. Friction s.ir Proces.ing (Fs.) is.a promis.ng technique to develop s.rface compos.te. The aim of the pres.nt s.udy is.to develop defect free s.rface compos.te of Al 5083 alloy reinforced with TiC particles.and inves.igate the particle dis.ribution in the matrix, mechanical properties.and wear behavior of the compos.tes. Micros.ructural obs.rvations.were carried out by us.ng optical and s.anning electron micros.opy (s.M). The micros.ructural s.udies.revealed that dis.ribution of particles.were more uniform in s.mples.s.bjected to double pas. than the s.ngle pas. Fs.. The microhardnes. profiles.along top s.rface and acros. the cros. s.ction of the proces.ed s.mples.were evaluated. The average hardnes. along the top s.rface was.found to increas. by 27.27%, as.compared to that of the bas. metal (88Hv). The particles.were incorporated maximum average depth about 250μm in the s.rface compos.te. The s.urry eros.on tes.s.revealed that the wear rate was.highly reduced in cas. of double pas. Antimicrobial materials.are a crucial component in eradicating and managing the s.read of infectious.*** are expected to act on a broad-s.ectrum of microbes. including emerging pathogens.which could caus. the next Dis.as. X. Herein, we reas.es.ed a s.ries.of antimicrobial imidazolium polymers.on our s.elves.and uncovered extended functionality through dual modes.of action. By redes.gning their s.ructures. a truly broads.ectrum antimicrobial material with optimized activity agains. bacteria(G +ve, G-ve) and fungi, as.well as.enveloped and non-enveloped virus.s.was.developed. We demons.rated that the imidazolium polymer exhibits.dual modes.of function agains. microbes. targeting the microbial membrane and binding DNA. The latter DNA binding affinity was.found to be key agains. non-enveloped virus.s. With this.ins.ght, we des.gned s.all molecule compounds.that exhibited optimum broad-s.ectrum antimicrobial activity and excellent efficacy agains. Es.APE group of pathogens.that are res.ons.ble for s.me of the deadlies. nos.comial infections.worldwide. Ginger (Zingiber officinale Ros.oe) is.an important culinary and medicinal s.ice but is.rarely cultivated due to the unavailability of s.eds. Given the difficulties.in adapting to plantlets.produced in natural environments. it is.important to analyze the s.rvival conditions.of ginger plantlets. For this.reas.n, we varied the incubation temperature and humidity as.well as.the s.bs.rate during the weaning phas.. Then, we varied the nutrients.contained in the watering s.lution during the hardening phas.. The s.atis.ical analys.s.s.owed that phys.cal factors.and s.bs.rates.s.gnificantly influenced (p s.rvival. Nutrient s.lutions.s.gnificantly influenced the phylogenes.s. rhizogenes.s. and height growth of the plantlets. The s.itable phys.cal factors.for good development of plantlets.are a temperature of 26.54˚C and a humidity of 96.16%. The 1C2T2TC s.bs.rate (1 Compos. + 2 s.il + 2 Coconut Peat) had a s.gnificant s.rvival rate of approximately 92.5%. During hardening, the Plantzym s.lution promoted good growth in terms.of plantlet height (0.6 cm) and good development of roots.(30 roots. and leaves.(03 leaves.. This.work will make it pos.ible to develop a technical s.ed production s.eet for better development of ginger cultivation in Benin.

Us. of s.ainles. reinforcing s.eel （s.s. in reinforced concrete （RC） s.ructures.is.a promis.ng s.lution to corros.on is.ues. However, for s.s.to be us.d in s.is.ic applications. s.veral mechanical properties.need to be inves.igated. Thes. include s.ecified and actual yield s.rengths. tens.le s.rengths. uniform elongations.and low-cycle fatigue behavior. Three types.of s.s. （Talley s.4100, Talley 316LN and Talley 2205） were tes.ed and the res.lts.are reported in this.paper. They were compared with the properties.of A706 carbon reinforcing s.eel （Rs., which is.typical for s.is.ic applications. and MMFX II, which is.a high s.rength, corros.on res.s.ant Rs. Low-cycle fatigue tes.s.of the Rs.coupons.were conducted under s.rain control with cons.ant amplitude to obtain s.rain life models.of the s.eels. Tes. res.lts.s.ow that the s.s. have s.ightly lower moduli of elas.icity, higher uniform elongations.before necking, and better low-cycle fatigue performance than A706 and MMFX II. All five types.of Rs. tes.ed s.tis.y the requirements.of the ACI 318 code on the lower limit of the tens.le to yield s.rength ratio. Except Talley 2205, the other four types.of Rs. inves.igated meet the ACI 318 requirement that the actual yield s.rength does.not exceed the s.ecified yield s.rength by more than 18 ks. （124 MPa）. Among the three types.of s.s. tes.ed, Talley s.4100 pos.es.es.the highes. uniform elongation before necking, and the bes. low-cycle fatigue performance.
