Development and judicious.management of available water res.urces.play a key role for economic upliftment of any region. The agricultural pattern and s.cial and demographic s.atus.in the upper bas.n of the Dulung Nala s.ream （a tributary of the s.barnarekha River） in the wes.ern part of the s.ate of Wes. Bengal, India, reveals.growing demand of water in the bas.n. The paper reports.different management plans.involving different types.of water harves.ing s.ructures.（and as.ociated different types.of water dis.ribution s.s.ems. and different crop combinations.and with benefit/cos. ratios.varying from 1.3 to 11.2 for the bas.n. The s.udy points.out that the judicious.choice of both the water harves.ing s.ructure as.well as.the water dis.ribution s.s.em is.important. Proper planning of crop pattern is.als. to be emphas.zed for reaping maximum benefit. It further emphas.zes.that cos.- benefit ratio cannot s.lely govern the choice of s.ructure and that maximum utilization of catchmental water and thus.enhancement of agricultural output （and als. economic return from the catchment） i.e. quantum of benefit is.als. important. The water harves.ing s.ructures.propos.d in this.s.udy can be implemented in other s.mi-arid regions.of India having almos. the s.me climatic and s.cio-economic conditions.

In order to provide a bas.c ins.ght into Li＇s.s.ecific methods.of combining Kant, early Marx and clas.ical Chines. philos.phy, the pres.nt article inves.igates.his.elaboration of the traditional Chines. paradigm of “the unity of nature and man” （tianren heyi 天人合一） through the lens.of ideas.about humanized nature （renhua de ziran ）人化的自然） and naturalized humans.（ziranhua de ten 自然化的人）.

Accurate prediction of the s.lids.friction factor through horizontal s.raight pipes.is.important for the reliable des.gn of a pneumatic conveying s.s.em, but it is.a challenging as.ignment to date becaus. of the highly concentrated, turbulent, and complex nature of the gas.s.lids.mixture. Power-s.ation fly as. was.trans.orted through different pipeline configurations. Numerical s.mulation of the dens.-phas. pneumatic conveying s.s.ems.for three different s.lids.and two different air flow rates.have s.own that particle and actual gas.velocities.and the ratio of the two velocities.increas.s.in the flow direction, whereas.the revers. trend was.found to occur for the s.lids.volumetric concentration. To develop a s.lids.friction-factor model s.itable for dens.-phas. flow, we modified an exis.ing pure dilute-phas. model by incorporating s.b-models.for particle and actual gas.velocities.and impact and s.lids.friction factor. The s.lids.friction-factor model was.validated by us.ng it for s.ale-up predictions.for total pipeline pres.ure drops.in longer and larger pipes.and by comparing experimental and predicted pneumatic conveying characteris.ics.for different s.lids.flow rates. The accuracy of the prediction was.compared with a recently developed two-layer-bas.d model. We dis.us.ed the effect of incorporating the particle and actual gas.velocity terms.in the s.lids.friction-factor model ins.ead of s.perficial air velocity.

The uns.eady laminar magnetohydrodynamics.（MHD） boundary layer flow and heat trans.er of nanofluids.over an accelerating convectively heated s.retching s.eet are numerically s.udied in the pres.nce of a trans.ers. magnetic field with heat s.urce/s.nk The uns.eady governing equations.are s.lved by a s.ooting method with the Runge-Kutta- Fehlberg s.heme. Three different types.of water bas.d nanofluids. containing copper, aluminium oxide, and titanium dioxide, are taken into cons.deration. The effects.of the pertinent parameters.on the fluid velocity, the temperature, the entropy generation num- ber, the Bejan number, the s.ear s.res., and the heat trans.er rate at the s.eet s.rface are graphically and quantitatively dis.us.ed in detail. A comparis.n of the entropy generation due to the heat trans.er and the fluid friction is.made with the help of the Bejan number. It is.obs.rved that the pres.nce of the metallic nanoparticles.creates.more entropy in the nanofluid flow than in the regular fluid flow.

Development of modified plas.ics.has.been s.udied through the LDPE-acylated s.arch blend films.to examine the effect of different acyl groups.and degrees.of s.bs.itution （Ds. on properties.of films. Corn s.arch was.modified with acetyl and hutyryl groups.and films.were prepared by blending acylated s.arch with low dens.ty polyethylene （LDPE）. s.s.ematic s.udies.were done to obs.rve the effect of acyl groups. Ds.and s.arch concentration on the properties.and biodegradability of the blend films. It was.obs.rved that blend films.containing 5% acetylated and butyrylated s.arches.of high Ds.（2.5, 1.7） maintained 75% and 83% of tens.le s.rength of LDPE films. Thermal analys.s.res.lts.indicated that acetylated and butyrylated s.arch blend films.decompos.d at 370℃ and 389℃ which were higher than the decompos.tion temperature of native s.arch film （349℃）. s.anning electron micrographs.of blend films.containing high Ds.acylated s.arch s.owed well dis.ers.d s.arch particles.due to improvement in dis.ers.on between s.arch and LDPE. Water abs.rption capacity of high Ds.acetylated and butyrylated s.arch blend films.（4.18% and 3.76%, res.ectively） was.lower than that of native s.arch films.（5%）. This.s.udy has.an advantage becaus. of blown films.prepared can be integrated with the pres.nt manufacturing s.s.ems.without any other requirement.
