This.paper explains.various.factors.that contribute to s.ltwater intrus.on, including overexploitation of fres.water res.urces.and climate change as.well as.the different techniques.es.ential for effective s.ltwater intrus.on management. The impact of s.ltwater intrus.on along coas.al regions.and its.impact on the environment, hydrogeology and groundwater contamination. It s.gges.s.potential s.lutions.to mitigate the impact of s.ltwater intrus.on, including effective water management and techniques.for managing s.I. The application of A.I (as.es.ment index) s.rves.as.a guideline to correctly identify wells.with s.I ranging from no intrus.on, s.ight intrus.on and s.rong intrus.on. The challenges.of s.ltwater intrus.on in Lagos.and the s.linization of wells.were inves.igated us.ng the hydro-chemical parameters. The s.udy identifies.four wells.(“AA”, “CMs., “OBA” and “VIL”) as.having high electric conductivities. indicating s.line water intrus.on, while other wells.(“EBM”, “IKj. and “IKO”) with lower electric conductivities. indicate little or no s.lt-water intrus.on, and “Aj. well s.ows.s.ight intrus.on. The elevation of the wells.als. played a vital role in the s.I acros. coas.al regions.of Lagos. The s.udy recommends.continuous.monitoring of coas.al wells.to help s.s.ain and reduce s.line intrus.on. The findings.of the s.udy are important for policymakers. res.archers. and practitioners.who are interes.ed in addres.ing the challenges.of s.ltwater intrus.on along coas.al regions. We as.es.ed the s.I acros. the eight (8) wells.us.ng the As.es.ment Index to identify wells.with s.I. Wells.in “CMs. and “VIL” has.s.rong intrus.ons. A propos.d clas.ification s.s.em bas.d on s.ecific ion ratios.categorizes.water quality from good (+) to highly (-) contaminated (refer to Table 4). Thes. findings.unders.ore the need for attention and effective management s.rategies.to addres. groundwater uns.itability for various.purpos.s.

The res.arch s.udy was.conducted to as.es. and quantify the current s.atus.of avifauna biodivers.ty as.ets.of Aurora s.ate College of Technology’s.Fores. Res.rvation in Baler, Aurora, Philippines. As.es.ment of avifaunal divers.ty was.undertaken by travers.ng the four es.ablis.ed circular plots.having a radius.of 125 meters.or 250 meters.diameters.each as.permanent monitoring s.ations. s.udy revealed a total number of 151 Individual s.ecies. clas.ified into 23 genera and 21 families. Eighteen of thes. s.ecies.are endemic while the remaining five were fully migrated birds. All birds.obs.rved were clas.ified as.Leas. Concern (LC) s.ecies.according to the International Union for Cons.rvation of Nature’s.Red Lis. of Threatened s.ecies.and the updated lis. of the Birds.of the World online. Its.abundance, richnes. and divers.ty index were calculated us.ng s.annon Divers.ty Index (H') while Pielou’s.evennes. (j.) for dis.ribution of s.ecies. Fores. res.rvation of As.OT has.more even (0.756 j.) and moderate divers.ty (2.812 H') obs.rvation on avifauna in general. However, this.avian population evaluation was.threatened into a verge of extinction due to natural and anthropological threats.that caus.s.fores. defores.ation. s.ch defores.ation of habitat caus.s.dwindling of wildlife territory leading to the s.arcity of bird’s.population. Thus. the as.es.ment was.conducted to aid As.OT adminis.ration find s.gnificant plans.to ens.re s.s.ainable cons.rvation and protection of the remaining avifauna s.ecies.in the res.rvation area.

The s.gnificant ris. of ultra-violet（UV） radiation and pathogenic infectious.bacteria pos.s.a s.rious.threat to global *** res.archers. interes.s.are attracted by novel materials.with s.rong UVblocking ability,antibacterial activity and low toxicity to other *** this.cas.,a s.mple wet chemical method with different annealing temperatures.400,500,and 600℃） was.employed to create highly effective rare earth（s.）-doped ZnO ***（101） plane of wurtzite ZnO s.ifts.towards.a lower angle with increas.ng annealing temperature,according to the X-ray diffraction（XRD） s.udy findings.which additionally es.ablis.es.the cons.quence of lattice *** of doublet peaks.of s. 3d(s. 3d5/2and s. 3d3/2) in the X-ray photoelectron s.ectros.opy（XPs. s.ectrum clearly validates.the s.bs.itution of s.3+ions.in the 500℃-annealed *** 500℃-annealed nanorods.exhibit combined performances.of the wide band gap,improved UV abs.rbance,and vivid green lumines.ent emis.ion（563 nm）.Additio nally,the nanorods.have favorable UV-blocking execution of 96% for UVA at 360 nm,92% for UVB at 320 nm,and 57% for UVC at 225 nm,which is.greater than the maj.rity of ZnO-related materials.that have been reported up to this.*** doping is.als. appropriate for improving bacterial inhibition agains. the two s.udied s.rains.Es.herichia coli and s.aphylococcus.aureus.,in addition to the intriguing features.dis.us.ed ***,with maximum inhibition zone diameters.of 20±0.72 and 18±0.57 mm,res.ectively,thes. nanorods.exhibit high inhibitory action agains. *** and *** bacterial *** rare earth-doped material developed during the current experiment,which was.annealed at 500℃,could potentially s.rve as.an effective replacement for UV-blocking and antibacterial material,es.ecially for biomedical applications.

The Regional Economic Impacts.of Coal Mining: A Cas. s.udy of s.gnal Peak Energy

This.paper quantifies.the regional economic contributions.of coal exports.from the Us.us.ng a cas. s.udy of s.gnal Peak Energy in Montana. Two methods.of es.imating economic contributions.are compared, contribution and impact analys.s. The latter is.adopted becaus. the indus.ry impact analys.s.is.more accurate, es.ecially s.nce it is.bas.d upon accounting records.from s.gnal Peak. Our es.imates.of regional economic and fis.al impacts.do not vary s.gnificantly with the price of coal becaus. we explicitly account for s.ings.in royalty income. Our analys.s.finds.that s.gnal Peak Energy s.pports.678 j.bs. over $55 million in tax revenues. more than $90 million in royalties. $111.7 million in value added, and $62.3 million in labor income. Curtailing or halting s.gnal Peak’s.coal production for environmental reas.ns.as.s.me environmental groups.have argued would eliminate thes. economic contributions.
