This.contribution pres.nts.a new application of the s.outed bed technique. The developed production proces. involves.coating fine copper particles.with a polymer in a s.outed bed plant and then hot pres.ing the produced granules.to form a compact cons.s.ing of a copper–polymer compos.te with a high filling degree. The fabricated compos.tes.pos.es. high relative permittivity, which is.advantageous.for the production of effective capacitors. With increas.ng filling degree of copper, the relative permittivity of the compos.tes.increas.d, with a maximum relative permittivity of 214 obtained for the compos.te containing 78.1 vol% copper. s.ch a high filling degree can be achieved with conductive particles.without obtaining a conductive compos.te by us.ng the s.outed bed technology in the production proces.. The high relative permittivity res.lts.from the high filling degree of particles.is.lated by a polymer coating.

Continuous.fluidized bed layering granulation with external product clas.ification and a s.eve-mill cycle can s.ow ins.ability in the form of s.lf-s.s.ained nonlinear os.illations.of the particle s.ze dis.ribution. In the pres.nt s.udy, the s.ability and bifurcation analys.s.of this.proces. is.pres.nted. The underlying proces. models.explicitly account for compartmentalization of the fluidized bed into a granulation and a drying zone, which is.an important feature of many technical proces.es. Implications.for plant operations.are dis.us.ed with the help of s.ability diagrams.as.a function of zone s.ze, res.dence time within different zones. the addition of external s.eds.and particular properties.of the s.eve-mill cycle.

The coefficient of res.itution is.widely us.d to characterize the energy dis.ipation rate in numerical s.mulations.involving particle collis.ons. The challenge in meas.ring the coefficient of res.itution is.the s.rong s.atter s.en in experimental data that res.lts.from varying particle properties. i.e. s.ape and s.rface roughnes., and from imperfections.in the experimental technique. To minimize this.s.attering, a novel experimental s.tup was.developed bas.d on two s.nchronized high-s.eed cameras.capturing the collis.on behaviour of a particle in three dimens.ons. To meas.re the wet res.itution coefficient, which des.ribes.particle impact in the pres.nce of a liquid layer in the contact region, additional accuracy can be achieved by meas.ring the liquid layer thicknes. by a high-precis.on optical confocal s.ns.r. The coefficient of res.itution was.meas.red for glas. particles.with two different diameters. at different relative velocities.and liquid layer thicknes.es. with a focus.on s.all collis.on velocities.and thin liquid layers. us.ng both the improved （three dimens.onal） and the conventional （two dimens.onal） approaches.to quantify the improvement of the new method＇s.accuracy.

A novel technique for the meas.rement of the coating layer thicknes. of fine particles.was.developed in this.work bas.d on cros.-s.ctioning of micrometre-s.zed s.ngle coated particles.us.ng focus.d ion beam (FIB) milling. This.technique was.tes.ed on two batches.of aerogel particles.coated with thin coatings.in a s.outed bed. The FIB milling procedure cons.s.ed of two s.eps. Firs., the des.red part of the coated particle was.removed us.ng a high ion beam current. The res.lting cros.-s.ctioned area was.then polis.ed us.ng a lower ion beam current to make the cros.-s.ction clearly vis.ble. The FIB milling proces. was.controlled with s.multaneous.s.anning electron micros.opy (s.M). Afterwards. the coating layer thicknes. was.evaluated us.ng the s.M images. The coating layer was.s.cces.fully applied on the porous.aerogel microparticles.in the s.outed bed. The coating uniformity of the highly porous.particles.increas.d with increas.ng s.rayed coating s.lution amount, with up to 91% of the particle pores.being covered. The FIB-cros.-s.ctioning technique us.ng an ion beam of 2.50 nA for the firs. milling and 0.43 nA for polis.ing of the s.rface res.lted in s.cces.ful generation of cros.-s.ctions.of repres.ntative particles.with a vis.ble particle core and coating layer. A coating layer thicknes. of approximately 700 nm was.achieved on particles.with s.zes.of below 45 μm.

The milling behavior of poly(amide imide),which s.rves.as.a prototypical hydrophilic high-performance polymer with a high glas. trans.tion temperature,was.inves.igated.Various.milling conditions.milling times.up to 7h,s.irrer tip s.eeds.of 3.4-4.9 m/s.and mas. concentrations.of 5-20%) were tes.ed,and particle s.zes.as.low as.d50,33μm were obtained.The milling was.performed at 11℃ in an attritor.Differential s.anning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analys.s.were performed before and after milling to inves.igate the effect of milling on the glas. trans.tion temperature and on the decompos.tion behavior of the polymer.The s.s.ens.on obtained after milling was.obs.rved to be s.able without the addition of s.abilizers.or the adjus.ment of the pH value,and no negative effect of milling on the polymer properties.was.obs.rved.The attritor technique proved to be an adequate and efficient milling tool for the production of micrometer-s.zed high-performance polymer s.s.ens.ons.

In this.s.udy,s.outed bed technology was.applied to the protection and functionalization of polyphenolic ros.mary extracts.Firs.,s.lid-liquid extraction was.performed at 25℃with ethanol-water.The ethanol-water ratio was.chos.n to obtain high phenolic acid and diterpene concentrations.in the extract.The s.lected s.lvent compos.tion gave liquid extracts.that could be directly added to a coating mixture for feeding into a s.outed bed apparatus.Thus.no preliminary s.lvent exchange or evaporation of the extraction s.lvent to drynes. was.required.Food grade Pas.lli MD 6 maltodextrin and HiCap 100 modified s.arch were us.d as.inert core and s.ell materials.in the s.outed bed encaps.lation proces. under mild operating conditions.The antioxidant activity of the fres. extract was.retained during proces.ing,which indicated that the active cons.ituents.were pres.rved and quantitatively trans.erred into the encaps.lated formulations.which were readily s.luble in water.The obtained powders.were compos.d of nearly s.herical particles.Their compos.tions.water s.lubilities.and particle morphologies.make them a s.rong candidate for food and beverage applications.as.natural antioxidants.pres.rvatives.or functional ingredients.

The identification of jets.originating from quarks.and gluons.often referred to as.quark/gluon tagging,plays.an important role in various.analys.s.performed at the Large Hadron Collider,as.s.andard Model meas.rements.and s.arches.for new particles.decaying to quarks.often rely on s.ppres.ing a large gluon-induced background.This.paper des.ribes.the meas.rement of the efficiencies.of quark/gluon taggers.developed within the ATLAs.Collaboration,us.ng √s.13 TeV proton–proton collis.on data with an integrated luminos.ty of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAs.experiment.Two taggers.with high performances.in rejecting jets.from gluon over jets.from quarks.are s.udied:one tagger is.bas.d on requirements.on the number of inner-detector tracks.as.ociated with the jet,and the other combines.s.veral jet s.bs.ructure obs.rvables.us.ng a boos.ed decis.on tree.A method is.es.ablis.ed to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by us.ng quark/gluon-enriched s.bs.mples.defined by the jet ps.udorapidity.Differences.in tagging efficiency between data and s.mulation are provided for jets.with trans.ers. momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.

Impact s.atement Gut microbiota-derived trimethylamine(TMA)is.as.ociated with cardiometabolic dis.rders.and exemplifies.a microbial involvement in the etiology of emerging,noncommunicable dis.as.s.the leading caus.s.of death worldwide.Three bio-chemical pathways.taking dietary compounds.as.intake have been des.ribed with dis.inct taxa involved that are all pres.nt at low relative abundances.A recently dis.overed pathway is.now cons.dered to be the main route for TMA s.nthes.s.from L-carnitine involvingγ-butyrobetaine as.an intermediate product.By comprehens.ve(meta)genomic s.reening of publicly available data,namely,genomes.of the UHGG catalog(n>200,000)and 10 metagenomic(trans.riptomic)data s.ts.we revealed bacteria s.nthes.zing TMA via this.pathway and s.ecified their ecophys.ology.Res.lts.will contribute to s.ratification of individuals.bas.d on their gut microbiota's.potential to s.nthes.ze TMA and might aid in the development of s.rategies.res.ricting TMA formation.

Directed x-rays.produced in the interaction of s.b-picos.cond las.r puls.s.of moderate relativis.ic intens.ty with plas.a of near-critical dens.ty are inves.igated. s.nchrotron-like (betatron) radiation occurs.in the proces. of direct las.r acceleration (DLA) of electrons.in a relativis.iclas.r channel when the electrons.undergo trans.ers. betatron os.illations.in s.lf-generated quas.-s.atic electric and magnetic fields. In anexperiment at the PHELIX las.r s.s.em, high-current directed beams.of DLA electrons.with a mean energy ten times.higher than the ponderomotive potential and maximum energy up to 100 MeV were meas.red at 10^(19) W/cm^(2)las.r intens.ty. The s.ectrum of directed x-rays.n the range of 5–60 keV was.evaluated us.ng two s.ts.of Ros. filters.placed at 0°and 10°to the las.r puls. propagation axis. The differential x-ray abs.rption method allowed for abs.lute meas.rements.of the angular-dependent photon fluence. We report 10^(13) photons.s. withenergies.>5 keV meas.red at 0°to the las.r axis.and a brilliance of 10^(21) photons.s.(−1) mm^(−2) mrad−2(0.1%BW)−1. The angular dis.ributionof the emis.ion has.an FWHM of 14°–16°. Thanks.to the ultra-high photon fluence, point-like radiation s.urce, and ultra-s.ort emis.iontime, DLA-bas.d keV backlighters.are promis.ng for various.applications.in high-energy-dens.ty res.arch with kilojoule petawatt-clas. las.rfacilities.
