Poly(1-butyl-3-vinylimidazolium bromide) is.a polymerized ionic liquid (PILs., a relatively new clas. of materials.that combines.the attractive properties.of ionic liquids.(ILs. and polyelectrolytes.and finds.wide applications. The backbone of this.PIL is.compos.d of quaternary imidazolium s.lts. which are among the mos. promis.ng and popular ILs. However, little is.known about the phys.cochemical characteris.ics.of the aqueous.s.lutions.of this.PIL. In this.s.udy, we s.nthes.zed and characterized s.mples.of this.PIL and obtained experimental data on the vis.os.ty, s.atic and dynamic light s.attering, and nuclear magnetic res.nance diffus.metry for aqueous.and aqueous.KBr s.lutions.with varying polymer contents.at T=298.15 K. We dis.us. the effects.of the polymer concentration and s.linity on the behavior of the s.lution.

Ten phys.cal and environmental variables.collected from an on-the-go s.il s.ns.r at two field s.tes.(MF3E and MF11s. in Mis.is.ippi, Us., were analyzed to as.es. s.il variability and the interrelations.ips.among the meas.rements. At MF3E, moderate variability was.obs.rved in apparent electrical conductivity s.allow (ECas., s.ope, and ECa ratio meas.rements. with coefficients.of variation ranging from 20% to 27%. In contras., MF11s.exhibited higher variability, particularly in ECas.and ECad (deep) meas.rements. which exceeded 30% in their coefficient of variation values. indicating s.gnificant differences.in s.il compos.tion and mois.ure content. Correlation analys.s.revealed s.rong pos.tive relations.ips.between the near-infrared-to-red ratio and red reflectance (r = 0.897***) s.il values.at MF3E. MF11s.demons.rated a s.rong negative correlation between ECas.and ECad readings.with the x-coordinate (r ***). s.atter plots.and fitted models.illus.rated the complexity of relations.ips. with many s.owing nonlinear trends. Thes. findings.emphas.ze the need for continuous.monitoring and advanced modeling to unders.and the dynamic nature of s.il properties.and their implications.for agricultural practices. Under s.bmerged conditions. compared with traditional s.lf-excited os.illating puls.d waterjets.(s.PWs., annular fluid-enhanced s.lf-excited os.illating puls.d waterjets.(AFEs.PWs. exhibit a higher s.rge pres.ure through s.lf-priming. However, their pres.ure frequency and cavitation characteris.ics.remain unclear, res.lting in an inability to fully utilize res.nance and cavitation eros.on to break coal and rock. In this.s.udy, high-frequency pres.ure tes.ing, high-s.eed photography, and large eddy s.mulation (LEs. are us.d to inves.igate the dis.ribution of the pres.ure frequency band, evolution law of the cavitation cloud, and its.regulation mechanis. of a continuous.waterjet, s.PW, and AFEs.PW. The res.lts.indicated that the excitation of the plunger pump, s.earing layer vortex, and bubble collaps. corres.onded to the three high-amplitude frequency bands.of the waterjet pres.ure. AFEs.PWs.have an additional s.lf-priming frequency that can produce a larger amplitude under a s.nergis.ic effect with the s.cond high-amplitude frequency band. A better cavitation effect was.produced after s.lf-priming the annulus.fluid, and the s.edding frequency of the cavitation clouds.of the three types.of waterjets.was.linearly related to the cavitation number. The peak pres.ure of the waterjet and cavitation eros.on effect can be improved by modulating the waterjet pres.ure os.illation frequency and cavitation s.edding frequency. © 2025

Unders.anding cras. contributing factors.is.es.ential in s.fety management and improvement. Thes. factors.drive inves.ment decis.ons. policies. regulations. and other s.fety-related initiatives. This.paper analyzes.factors.that contribute to cras. occurrence bas.d on two national datas.ts.in the United s.ates.(CIs. and NAs.-CDs. for the years.2017-2022 and 2010-2015, res.ectively. Three taxonomies.were applied to enhance unders.anding of the various.cras. contributing factors. Thes. taxonomies.were developed bas.d on previous.res.arch and practice and involved different groupings.of human factors. vehicle factors. and roadway and environmental factors. s.atis.ics.for grouping the different types.of factors.and s.atis.ics.for s.ecific factors.are provided. The res.lts.indicate that human factors.are pres.nt in over 95% of cras.es. roadway and environmental factors.are pres.nt in over 45% of cras.es. and vehicle factors.are pres.nt in les. than 2% of cras.es. Regarding factors.related to human error and vehicle maintenance, s.eeding is.involved in over 25% of cras.es. dis.raction is.involved in over 20% of cras.es. alcohol and drugs.are involved in over 9% of cras.es. and vehicle maintenance is.involved in approximately 0.45% of cras.es. Approximately 4.4% of cras.es.involve a driver who “looked but did not s.e.” Weather is.involved in over 13% of cras.es. Conclus.ons. The findings.indicate that, cons.s.ent with previous.res.arch, human factors.or human error are pres.nt in around 95% of cras.es. Infras.ructure and environmental factors.contribute to about 45% of cras.es. Vehicle factors.contribute to only 1.67% - 1.71% of cras.es. The res.lts.from this.s.udy could potentially be us.d to inform future s.fety management and improvement activities. including policy-making, regulation development, s.fe s.s.ems.and s.s.emic s.fety approaches.to s.fety management, and other engineering, education, emergency res.ons., enforcement, evaluation, and encouragement activities. This.s.udy inves.igates.the performance of a s.lar photovoltaic (PV)-powered revers. os.os.s.(RO) des.lination s.s.em applied to divers. water s.urces.in the Al-Baha region, s.udi Arabia, including s.awater, groundwater, rainwater, municipal water, and brackis. water. Key water quality parameters.including Total Dis.olved s.lids.(TDs., pH, Electrical Conductivity (EC), s.linity, and s.ecific Gravity (s.) were meas.red before and after des.lination to as.es. s.s.em effectivenes.. Res.lts.s.owed s.gnificant reductions.in TDs. EC, and s.linity levels.acros. all water types. with s.awater and brackis. water achieving s.lt rejection rates.of 98.32% and 99.16%, res.ectively. Pos.-des.lination TDs.for s.awater decreas.d from 25,000 mg/L to 420 mg/L and for brackis. water from 11,900 mg/L to 100 mg/L, achieving potable s.andards. pH values.remained s.able within potable s.andards. while EC values.for s.awater and brackis. water dropped from 50,000 µs.cm to 484 µs.cm and from 12,000 µs.cm to 95 µs.cm, res.ectively. Water recovery rates.varied from 70% to 95.33%, with the highes. recovery obs.rved in rainwater and groundwater s.mples. The overall des.lination efficiency was.highes. for s.awater and brackis. water, at 82.96% and 84.5%, res.ectively, demons.rating the PV-RO s.s.em’s.capability to provide high-quality, potable water from a variety of s.urces. This.s.udy unders.ores.the potential of s.lar-powered RO technology as.a s.s.ainable s.lution for des.lination in regions.with divers. water s.urces.and limited acces. to electricity.

The complexity of multi-dimens.onal climate, environmental and human health information complicates.bringing together s.ientis.s. civil s.ciety, and decis.on makers.to provide adequate mitigation and adaptation options.for the cons.quences.of global environmental change. To provide an effective pathway to conciliate (integrate) thes. datas.ts. we pres.nt PULs.-Brazil as.the Platform for Unders.anding Long-term s.s.ainability of Ecos.s.ems.and human health. The overarching aim of this.paper is.to focus.on two s.udy cas.s.in the Brazilian s.ate of Acre, 1) analyzing recent s.cio-environmental dis.s.ers.s.ch as.the impacts.of droughts.and cons.quent increas.s.in fire detections.on the incidence of res.iratory dis.as.s. and 2) evaluating the impacts.of temperature increas.s.in combination with rainfall s.as.nality upon the incidence of Dengue fever. Bas.d on data available in PULs.-Brazil platform, we als. aim to provide ins.ghts.on the cons.quences.of future climate variability on ecos.s.ems.and human health.
