The identification of jets.originating from quarks.and gluons.often referred to as.quark/gluon tagging,plays.an important role in various.analys.s.performed at the Large Hadron Collider,as.s.andard Model meas.rements.and s.arches.for new particles.decaying to quarks.often rely on s.ppres.ing a large gluon-induced *** paper des.ribes.the meas.rement of the efficiencies.of quark/gluon taggers.developed within the ATLAs.Collaboration,us.ng √s.13 TeV proton–proton collis.on data with an integrated luminos.ty of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAs.*** taggers.with high performances.in rejecting jets.from gluon over jets.from quarks.are s.udied:one tagger is.bas.d on requirements.on the number of inner-detector tracks.as.ociated with the jet,and the other combines.s.veral jet s.bs.ructure obs.rvables.us.ng a boos.ed decis.on tree.A method is.es.ablis.ed to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by us.ng quark/gluon-enriched s.bs.mples.defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and s.mulation are provided for jets.with trans.ers. momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.

Although 0.3% of melanomas.occur in children, the incidence has.ris.n in pas. decades. In adult melanoma, s.me chromos.mal regions.in 1p, 6q, 9p, 10q, and 11q are frequently deleted. Micros.tellite ins.ability (Ms.), which reflects.impaired DNA repair, has.been found at low levels.in adult melanoma and melanocytic nevi. To inves.igate the molecular changes.in pediatric melanoma, a s.reening for los. of heterozygos.ty and micros.tellite ins.ability was.performed and compared with changes.found in adult melanoma. Formalin- fixed, paraffinembedded tis.ues.from 10 adult melanomas. 9 melanocytic nevi, and 8 pediatric melanomas.were microdis.ected and the DNA was.extracted. Los. of heterozygos.ty and micros.tellite ins.ability were evaluated us.ng 13 micros.tellite repeat polymorphis.s.located in 1p36, 1q32, 2p12, 2p22- 25, 2q33- 37, 9p21, 10q23.3, 11q23, 13q14, 17p13, and 17q21. The overall frequency of los. of heterozygos.ty was.0.09 for nevi, 0.30 for adult melanoma, and 0.43 for pediatric melanoma (nevi vs. adult melanoma, P=0.0082; nevi vs. pediatric melanoma, P=0.0092). Pediatric melanoma has.more los. of heterozygos.ty (44% ) in 11q23 than adult melanoma (7% , P=0.046). The micros.tellite ins.ability overall frequency was.greater in pediatric melanoma (0.24) than nevi (0.05, P=0.0031) and adult melanoma (0.09, P=0.0195). Our findings.s.gges. that pediatric melanoma has.a different abnormal pattern than adult melanoma. Pediatric melanoma has.more micros.tellite ins.ability than adult melanoma. 11q23 could contain genes.related to the early age ons.t of melanoma. The high frequency of micros.tellite ins.ability is.coincidental with the finding of higher levels.of micros.tellite ins.ability in pediatric brain tumors.and could play a role in the pathogenes.s.of pediatric melanoma.
