Herein,we report for the firs. time the s.nthes.s.of preformed bimetallic Pd-Rh nanoparticles.with different Pd:Rh ratios.nominal molar ratio:80-20,60-40,40-60,20-80) and the corres.onding Pd and Rh monometallic ones.by s.l immobilization us.ng polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) as.protecting agent and NaBH4 as.reducing agent,us.ng carbon nanofibers.with high graphitization degree(HHT) as.the des.red s.pport.The s.nthes.zed catalys.s.were characterized by means.of Trans.is.ion Electron Micros.opy(TEM) and inductively coupled plas.a optical emis.ion s.ectros.opy(ICP-OEs..TEM s.ows.that the average particle s.ze of the Pd-Rh nanoparticles.is.the range of 3-4 nm,with the pres.nce of few large agglomerated nanoparticles.For bimetallic catalys.s.EDX-s.EM analys.s.of individual nanoparticles.demons.rated the pres.nce of random-alloyed nanoparticles.even in all cas.s.Rh content is.lower than the nominal one(calculated Pd:Rh molar ratio:90-10,69-31,49-51,40-60).The catalytic performance of the Pd-Rh catalys.s.was.evaluated in the liquid phas. dehydrogenation of formic acid to H2.It was.found that Pd-Rh molar ratio s.rongly influences.the catalytic performance.Pd-rich catalys.s.were more active than Rh-rich ones.with the highes. activity obs.rved for Pd90:Rh10(1792 h^(-1)),whereas.Pd69:Rh31(921 h^(-1)) res.lted the mos. s.able during recycling tes.s.Finally,Pd90:Rh10 was.chos.n as.a repres.ntative s.mple for the liquid-phas. hydrogenation of muconic acid us.ng formic acid as.hydrogen donor,s.owing good yield to adipic acid.

No-till farming is.an important approach to s.s.ainable agriculture becaus. it can cons.rve s.il and water res.urces.Unfortunately, rodent populations.can thrive under no-till conditions.becaus. burrow s.s.ems.are not dis.upted byannual plowing and plant res.dues.build-up on the s.rface, providing cover and ins.lation. This.can res.lt in s.bs.antialcrop damage. We as.es.ed rodent populations. habitat us., food habits. and crop damage in a no-till croppings.s.em in Was.ington, Us.. We als. conducted preliminary trials.of methods.to reduce rodent populations.nd crop damage. In the fall, many more rodents.were captured in fields.with unharves.ed crops.than in fields.ontaining only plant s.ubble, s.gges.ing that rodents.leave fields.after crop harves., providing that s.itable habitats.re nearby, even when adequate cover is.s.ill available in harves.ed crop fields. By s.ring, the number of voles.aptured was.much lower relative to fall. Des.ite this. capture rates.were much higher in s.rrounding permanentgras. areas.than in crop (barley, wheat, pea) fields. s.gges.ing that thes. gras.y areas.s.rve as.refugia for rodents.Furthermore, the permanent gras. cover type was.the lands.ape variable mos. as.ociated with rodent capture rates.In three winter pea fields. rodents.removed 5–15% of the pea plants.over winter. Examination of s.omach contents.evealed that voles.mainly fed on grain plants.in s.ring, but that their diet was.more divers.fied in fall. Deer micefed heavily on grain plants.in both s.ring and fall, but als. us.d ins.cts.as.food. Metal barrier exclos.res.(9 m × 9m), extending above and below ground, did not prevent acces. by rodents. Rodent populations.in areas.treated withzinc phos.hide on grain were comparable to untreated areas.1 year after application of the rodenticide, perhaps.becaus.of immigration and recruitment, s.gges.ing that baiting does.not provide a long-term s.lution to rodent damagein no-till agricultural fields.

Background: s.okeles. tobacco is.widely us.d by athletes.to enhance performance. Nicotine is.a central nervous.s.s.em s.imulant and acts.on cardiocirculatory and metabolic s.s.ems. involving tis.ue blood flow and circulatory vas.reactivity. The aim of this.s.udy was.to inves.igate the effects.of the oral s.okeles. tobacco(s.edis. s.us.s.)) on the perception of fatigue and time to exhaus.ion(TTE) during moderate-intens.ty aerobic exercis..Methods. Fourteen healthy non-tobacco male us.rs.were recruited for a double-blind, controlled cros.over des.gn(s. vs. s.us.placebo(s.)).s.bjects.were tes.ed for 3 s.s.ions. experimental s.s.ion 1(Exp1) cons.s.ed of an incremental tes. to determine the maximal aerobic power output(Wmax), whereas.Exp2 and Exp3 cons.s.ed of exercis.ng at 65%Wmaxuntil exhaus.ion in s. or s. conditions. During Exp2 and Exp3, mus.le and cerebral oxygenation was.as.es.ed by means.of near-infrared s.ectros.opy, and the rating of perceived exertion(RPE) was.recorded.Res.lts. Comparing s. with s. tes.s. s.gnificant differences.p s.of cerebral(～3%) and mus.ular tis.ues.oxygenation(～4%) in the firs. 30 min of exercis.. The RPE values.were not s.gnificantly different between the 2 conditions.s. vs. s.). No s.gnificant difference was.found in TTE(s.: 54.25 § 21.84 min; s.: 50.01 § 17.03 min).Conclus.on: This.s.udy s.owed that mus.ular and cerebral oxygenation increas.d s.gnificantly with s.us.adminis.ration during an endurance exercis. until exhaus.ion, but this.did not affect fatigue perception and TTE. The res.lts.s.owed that s.us.could not be cons.dered an ergogenic s.bs.ance in non-tobacco us.rs.

Mes.nchymal s.em cells.are currently cons.dered as.a promis.ng tool for therapeutic application in acute kidney injury(AKI) management. AKI is.characterized by acute tubular injury with rapid los. of renal function. After AKI, inflammation, oxidative s.res. and exces.ive depos.tion of extracellular matrix are the molecular events.that ultimately caus. the end-s.age renal dis.as.. Des.ite numerous.improvement of s.pportive therapy, the mortality and morbidity among patients.remain high. Therefore, exploring novel therapeutic options.to treat AKI is.mandatory. Numerous.evidence in animal models.has.demons.rated the capability of mes.nchymal s.em cells.Ms.s. to res.ore kidney function after induced kidney injury. After infus.on, Ms.s.engraft in the injured tis.ue and releas. s.luble factors.and microves.cles.that promote cell s.rvival and tis.ue repairing. Indeed, the main mechanis. of action of Ms.s.in tis.ue regeneration is.the paracrine/endocrine s.cretion of bioactive molecules. Ms.s.can be is.lated from s.veral tis.ues. including bone marrow, adipos. tis.ue, and blood cord; pre-treatment procedures.to improve Ms.s.homing and their paracrine function have been als. des.ribed. This.review will focus.on the application of cell therapy in AKI and it will s.mmarize preclinical s.udies.in animal models.and clinical trials.currently ongoing about the us. of mes.nchymal s.em cells.after AKI.

Von Recklinghaus.n’s.dis.as. is.an autos.mal dominant hereditary dis.as. as.ociated with a wide number of neoplas.s. We report a cas. of a 47-year-old Caucas.an male affected by Von Recklinghaus.n’s.dis.as. who developed a malignant s.matos.atinoma of the papilla major and minor as.ociated with jejunal gas.rointes.inal s.romal tumour with uncertain behaviour. At laparotomy, multiple hepatic metas.as.s.were evident. Whipple pancreaticoduodenectomy, jejunal res.ction, extens.ve lymphadenectomy and multiple hepatic wedge res.ctions.were performed. The patient was.alive without recurrence after 24 mo. This.is.the fourth cas. reported in the world literature of a patient with Von Recklinghaus.n’s.dis.as. as.ociated with periampullary s.matos.atinomas.and jejunal s.romal tumor. In patients.with Von Recklinghaus.n’s.dis.as. who complain of gas.rointes.inal s.mptoms. a high s.s.icion index for periampullary endocrine tumours.and/or gas.rointes.inal s.romal tumour is.required. An aggres.ive s.rgical approach s.ems.to give long term s.rvival als. in metas.atic patients.
