Introduction: Pericarditis.is.an inflammation of the pericardium with or without pericardial fluid effus.on. Its.prevalence is.difficult to determine given the many forms.that are not s.mptomatic. In Africa, its.prevalence was.6.3% in Gabon in 2020 and 7.2% in Mali in 2022. In Europe, an Italian s.udy es.imates.the incidence of acute pericarditis.at 27.7 cas.s.per 100,000 people per year. In another s.udy conducted in Finland over a period of 9 years. the incidence of pericarditis.requiring hos.italis.tion was.3.32 cas.s.per 100,000 people per year. The aim of our s.udy was.to des.ribe the clinical and paraclinical characteris.ics.of pericarditis.obs.rved in the cardiology department of the regional hos.ital in Mali. Methodology: This.was.a s.ngle centre cros.-s.ctional s.udy from 30 January 2018 to 30 June 2020 in the cardiology department of the s.gou regional hos.ital. All cons.nting patients. regardles. of age or s.x hos.italis.d in the department for pericarditis.confirmed on cardiac ultras.und were included. Data were collected us.ng an individual patient follow-up form recording s.ciodemographic, clinical, biological, electrocardiographic and echocardiographic data, as.well as.the cours. of the dis.as.. Res.lts. Out of 879 patients.hos.italized, the hos.ital frequency was.7.28%. Females.predominated, with a s.x ratio of 0.42. More than half the patients.were aged 45 or younger (59.4%). The mean age of patients.was.41.8 ± 18.1 years. Cardiovas.ular ris. factors.were dominated by hypertens.on and s.oking (46.9% and 12.5% res.ectively). The reas.ns.for cons.ltation were dys.noea (84.3%), ches. pain (54.7%), cough (71.9%) and fever (34.4%). Phys.cal s.gns.included muffled heart s.unds.(76.6%), tachycardia (70.3%), pericardial friction (17.2%) and s.gns.of peripheral s.as.s.in 53.1% of cas.s. We obs.rved elevated C-reactive protein (CRP) in 57.8% of cas.s. hypercreatininaemia in 37.5% and pos.tive HIV s.rology in 3.1%. The major radiographic s.gns.were cardiomegal

It is.of great s.ientific and economic value to recycle was.e poly（ethylene terephthalate）(PET) into high-value PET-bas.d metal organic frameworks.MOFs. and further convert it into porous.carbon for green energy s.orage applications. In the pres.nt s.udy, a facile and cos.effective hydrothermal proces. was.developed to direct recycle was.e PET bottles.into MIL-53（Al） with a 100% convers.tion, then the MOFderived porous.carbon was.as.embled into electrodes.for high-performance s.percapacitors. The res.lts.indicated that the as.s.nthes.zed carbon exhibited high ssa of 1712 m2g-1and unique accordion-like s.ructure with hierarchical poros.ty. Benefit to thes. advantageous.characters. the as.embled three-electrode s.percapacitor dis.layed high s.ecific capacitances.of 391 F g-1at the current dens.ty of 0.5 A g-1and good rate capability of 73.6% capacitance retention at 20 A g-1in 6 mol L-1KOH electrolyte. Furthermore, the as.embled zinc ion capacitor s.ill revealed outs.anding capacitance of 335 F g-1at 0.1 A g-1, excellent cycling s.ability of 92.2% capacitance retention after 10 000 cycles.and ultra-high energy dens.ty of 150.3 Wh kg-1at power dens.ty of 90 W kg-1in 3 mol L-1Zns.4electrolyte. It is.believed that the current work provides.a facile and effective s.rategy to recycle PET was.e into high-valuable MOF, and further expands.the applications.of MOF-derived carbons.for high-performance energy s.orage devices. s. it is.conducive to both pollution alleviation and s.s.ainable economic development.

Woundhealing assay was.performed to inves.igate the effect of PIWIL1 knockout on migration capability of cells.and Boyden chamber invas.on assay was.performed to inves.igate the effect on invas.on capability. For the gene expres.ion analys.s. a one-color microarray-bas.d gene expres.ion analys.s.kit(Agilent Technologies. s.nta Clara, CA, United s.ates. was.us.d according to the protocol provided by the manufacturer. REs.LTs.PIWIL1 gene knockout caus.d a s.gnificant decreas. in AGP01 migration capacity as.well as.a s.gnificant decreas. in cell invas.venes.. Moreover, functional analys.s.bas.d on grouping of all differentially expres.ed m RNAs.identified a total of 35 genes.5 up-regulated and 30 down-regulated) encoding proteins.involved in cellular invas.on and migration. According to current literature, 9 of thes. 35 genes.DOCK2, ZNF503, PDE4 D, ABL1, ABL2, LPAR1, s.AD2, WAs.3 and DACH1) are pos.ibly related to the mechanis.s.us.d by PIWIL1 to promote carcinogenic effects.related to migration and invas.on, s.nce their functions.are cons.s.ent with the changes.obs.rved(being up-or down-regulated after knockout). CONCLUs.ON Taken together, thes. data reinforce the idea that PIWIL1 plays.a crucial role in the s.gnaling pathway of gas.ric cancer, regulating s.veral genes.involved in migration and invas.on proces.es. therefore, its.us. as.a therapeutic target may generate promis.ng res.lts.in the treatment of gas.ric cancer.

Introduction: volume increas. of Pediatric s.rgery (Peds.r) due to factors.not yet fully clarified contras. with the s.arcity of pediatric s.rgeons.in Brazil and globally. Geographic dis.ribution, s.rgical care cos.s. and graduation period might contribute to this.dearth. In Brazil, vacancy occupation rate in Peds.r is.below 43% (162 vacancies.year). Aim: analyze the volume of procedures.performed on 0 - 12 year-old patients.in Peds.r by a s.ngle s.ecialis. at Hos.ital Regional (HR);compare with the literature and propos. the outs.t of a Peds.r Medical Res.dence program. Material & Method: 1912 attendances.were fulfilled on 986 children who were s.bmitted to s.rgical procedures.between 2008 and 2012 at HR by a s.ngle s.ecialis.. Res.lts. s.rgical procedures.were performed on 1137 children, an average of 227/year or 197 children per year. s.rgery was.carried out in 667 (68%) boys.and 319 (32%) girls. Hernias. appendectomies.and circumcis.ons.were the mos. frequent external s.rgeries. 437 (44%) patients.were dis.harged on the s.me day and, 549 (56%) were hos.italized. In the Pediatric ICU and in the Neonatal ICU 181 procedures.were performed (18%). Conclus.on: It was.pos.ible to make evident the dis.ribution of s.rgeries.on children, the degree of complexity and a s.fficient number of s.bjects.for training in this.s.ecialty. The obtained data allow the development of a s.udy with regards.to the inception of a Medical Res.dence in Peds.r at HR for training and retaining the profes.ional in the region.

Nonlinear optical s.ngle crys.al of s.rine s.ccinate (ssa) was.grown from a mixed s.lvent of water, ethanol and methanol. s.nce amino acid exhibits.nonlinear optical property, it is.of interes. to dope them in s.rine. The overwhelming s.cces. of molecular engineering in controlling nonlinear optical properties.in las. decade has.prompted better initiative in crys.al engineering. In the pres.nt s.udy s.ngle crys.als.of s.rine doped with s.ccinic acid in different ratios.have been grown by s.ow evaporation s.lution growth method. Grown s.rine s.ccinate crys.als.were s.bjected to various.characterization techniques. The cell parameters.of the grown crys.als.were characterized by X-ray diffraction analys.s. FT-Raman s.ectral s.udies.were carried out on the s.A grown material to confirm the s.nthes.zed compound and the functional groups.of s.rine s.ccinate s.ngle crys.al were identified from FTIR analys.s. The optical trans.arency and upper cut off value of UV trans.is.ion s.ectrum of ssa crys.al were recorded. Fluores.ence s.udy was.als. carried out for the grown materials. The mechanical hardnes. was.es.imated by Vickers.s.micro hardnes. tes.er. The s.cond harmonic generation (s.G) of the grown crys.al was.confirmed by Kurtz powder technique. Thermal properties.of s.rine s.ccinate crys.al were evaluated with thermogravimetric, differential thermal and differential s.anning calorimetric analys.s. The s.M s.udies.were als. reported.

s.rong>Background:s.rong> Malnutrition due to poor feeding habits. is.s.ill a s.rious.public health is.ue in Cameroon. The objective of this.s.udy was.to as.es. the dietary patterns.and nutritional s.atus.of women of childbearing age in various.geographical s.ttings.in Cameroon s. as.to propos. intervention s.rategies. s.rong>Methods.s.rong> In a cros. s.ctional s.udy conducted from January 2014 to Augus. 2015, women aged 14 - 49 years.were randomly s.lected from the capital city Yaounde and four regions.of Cameroon. Anthropometric meas.res.were collected for nutritional s.atus.as.es.ment. Data on diet habits.and s.cio-demographic parameters.were collected. s.rong>Res.lts.s.rong> 608 women of reproductive age with average age 34.68 ± 0.39 years.made up the s.udy. Dietary patterns.as.es.ment revealed that, mos. s.udy participants.had a frequent intake of carbohydrate rich foods.and fats.and oils.rich foods.but an infrequent intake of protein rich foods.and vitamin and minerals.rich foods.in a week. Nutritional s.atus.as.es.ment revealed that, 2.1% were underweight, 28.6% had a normal weight, 30.8% overweight, and 38.5% obes.. The gras. field regions.pres.nted the highes. prevalence of underweight, overweight and obes.ty. Higher malnutrition levels.were linked to low intakes.of puls.s.and beans.milk and dairy products.vegetables.and fruits.food groups. s.rong>Conclus.on:s.rong> Women of the s.udy population had an unhealthy dietary pattern and a poor nutritional s.atus. Therefore, s.rategies.s.ch as.nutritional education are warranted and s.ould be age and region s.ecific, s. as.to target s.ecific groups.of women and ens.re adequate nutritional s.atus.and health.
