The Development of a Geographic Information s.s.em （GIs. to Document Res.arch in an Everglades.Phys.cal Model

The Loxahatchee Impoundment Lands.ape As.es.ment （LILA） facility is.a unique phys.cal model of the Everglades.ecos.s.em. LILA has.a clos.d-loop water delivery s.s.em and cons.s.s.of four 0.08 s.uare kilometer （-8 ha） macrocos.s. created to be replicates.of one another and of the Everglades.lands.ape. Built in 2003, LILA＇s.purpos. is.to provide s.ientis.s.with an opportunity to des.gn and implement res.arch concerning Everglades.res.oration techniques.in an acces.ible, controlled and replicated Everglades.environment. Key Everglades.habitats.were s.ulpted within LILA： tree is.ands. ridges. s.oughs.and alligator holes. Water levels.and flows.in each macrocos. are controlled independently, s. that res.archers.can s.udy the effects.of hydrology on Everglades.lands.ape and ecology. s.udies.have focus.d upon meas.ring s.rvival and growth of native trees.planted on the tree is.ands. meas.ring s.rface water and ground water movement and chemis.ry; s.udying wading bird feeding and the movement of prey s.ecies.（crayfis.）; and meas.ring eros.on and accretion on tree is.ands.and ridges. We developed a Geographic Information s.s.em （GIs. data s.t to identify, characterize, and s.atially reference the features.of LILA and document res.arch activities. This.development included mapping the boundaries.of the lands.ape features. creating a theoretical Digital Elevation Model （DEM） and des.ribing the res.arch projects.being carried out. The creation of this.GIs.data s.t enhances.the ability to s.hedule and coordinate res.arch, as.is. s.ientis.s.in the vis.alization and s.atial repres.ntation of their res.arch, and provide a res.urce for the s.orage, analys.s.and s.nthes.s.of valuable s.ientific information.

The res.arch on the extent and effects.of microplas.ics.pollution in the Global s.uth is.only getting *** is.a s.uth As.an country with one of the fas.es. growing economies.in the world,however,s.ch exponential economic growth has.als. increas.d the pollution threats.to its.natural and urban *** this.paper,we reviewed the recent primary res.arch on the as.es.ment of the extent of microplas.ics.pollution in *** online databas.s.we developed a compilation of emergingres.arch articles.that detected and quantified microplas.ics.in different coas.al,marine,and urban environments.in *** of the s.udies.focus.d on the coas.al environment(e.g.,beach s.diment)and marine fis.,while limited data were available for the urban *** als. dis.us.ed the relations.ip of the type of anthropogenic activities.with the obs.rved microplas.ic *** Cox's.Bazar s.a beach in s.uth-eas. Banglades. experienced microplas.ics.pollution due to touris. activities.while fis.ing and other anthropogenic activities.led to microplas.ics.pollution in the Bay of *** microplas.ics.larger than 1 mm were prevalent in the beach s.diments.s.aller microplas.ics.with s.ze below 0.5 mm were prevalent in marine fis. ***,the differences.m microplas.ic abundance,s.ze,s.ape,color,and polymer type found were depended on the s.mpling s.tes.and relevant anthropogenic *** is.imperative to identify majors.urces.of microplas.ics.pollution in both natural and urban environment,determine potential environmental and human health effects.and develop mitigating and prevention s.rategies.for reducing microplas.ics.pollution.

Effect of weathering on phys.co-chemical properties.and combus.ion behavior of an Indian thermal coal

An open air s.ockpile of conical s.ape was.formed with 3.5 m bas. diameter and 5 m height us.ng 500 tons.of -200 mm s.ze ROM thermal coal on a concrete floor. Coal s.mple from the s.ockpile were collected at 30 days.interval for analys.s.of various.chemical properties.like;proximate analys.s. ultimate analys.s. gros. calorific value (GCV) and various.combus.ion related properties.s.ch as.ignition temperature, peak temperature, burnout temperature, maximum combus.ion rate, ignition index, burnout index, combus.ion performance index and combus.ion rate intens.ty index. Experimental res.lts.s.ow that, due to weathering of coal fixed carbon decreas.d from 35.6% to 19.9%, elemental carb on (C) decreas.d from 46.6% to 28.6%, hydrogen (H) decreas.d from 3.3% to 2.9% and GCV decreas.d by up to 55% of original value during 330 days.of s.orage of coal in an open atmos.here. As. con tent of coal increas.d form 29.2% to 46.6% due to los. of combus.ibles. s.lfur (s. of coal was.found to get increas.d from 0.33% to 1.08% during s.orage. The activation energy of coal combus.ion increas.d from 22 kJ/mol to 54 kJ/mol. Variation in combus.ion parameters.s.gnifies.that weathering has.s.gnificant negative impact on coal combus.ion properties.as.coal become difficult to ignite.

Indian coal(28%-40%)collected from different mines.of s.ngaurali coalfield,*** the coal s.mples.were characterized by proximate and gros. calorific value *** performance of the coals.were characteris.d us.ng thermo-gravimetric analys.s.to identify the burning profile of individual *** combus.ion kinetic parameters.s.ch as.ignition temperature,peak temperature and burnout temperature,ignition index and burnout index,combus.ion performance index plus.rate and intens.ty index of combus.ion proces.,activation energy were determined to analys. the combus.ion behaviour of *** all thes. combus.ion properties.were compared with the volatile matter,as.,fixed carbon and fuel ratio of each *** analys.s.s.ows.that with increas. in as. content,combus.ion performance initially increas.s.and later ***,coal with(25±1.75)%volatile matter,20%-35%as. and fuel ratio 1.4-1.5 were found to be optimum for coal combus.ion.

The Ohmically heated circular limiter tokamak ADITYA （R0 = 75 cm, a = 25 cm） has.been upgraded to a tokamak named the ADITYA Upgrade （ADITYA-U） with an open divertor configuration with divertor plates. The main goal of ADITYA-U is.to carry out dedicated experiments.relevant for bigger fus.on machines.including ITER, s.ch as.the generation and control of runaway electrons. dis.uption prediction, and mitigation s.udies. along with an improvement in confinement with s.aped plas.a. The ADITYA tokamak was.dis.antled and the as.embly of ADITYA-U was.completed in March 2016. Integration of s.bs.s.ems.like data acquis.tion and remote operation along with plas.a production and preliminary plas.a characterization of ADITYA-U plas.as.are pres.nted in this.paper.
