Effect of s.ape of the Abs.rber s.rface on the Performance of s.epped Type s.lar s.ill

In this.work, we have s.lected three number of s.epped type s.lar s.ills.of the s.me overall dimens.ons.620 mm (W) × 808 mm (L) but with different abs.rber s.rface areas.due to the variation in the s.ape of the bas.n s.rface. The other des.gn parameters.like depth of water, thicknes. of glas. cover, ins.lation thicknes., type of condens.ng cover, abs.rbing material provided over the bas.n, and angle of inclination of the s.ill were kept cons.ant to s.udy the effect of s.ape of the abs.rber s.rface over the dis.illate yield obtained. The s.ape of the abs.rber s.rface provided in the bas.ns.of s.lar s.ills.A, E and F was.flat, convex and concave res.ectively. When the convex and concave type s.epped s.lar s.ills.are us.d, the average daily water production has.been found to be 56.60% and 29.24% higher than that of flat type s.epped s.lar s.ill res.ectively. Als. an economic analys.s.was.made. The payback period of flat type, convex type and concave type s.epped s.lar s.ill is.823 days. 525 days.and 637 days.res.ectively. Thus. the convex type s.lar s.ill gives.the returns.within the leas. pos.ible time as.compared to other two types.of s.epped s.lar s.ills. The laboratory tes.s.were conducted to tes. the quality of water after dis.illation. The tes.s.indicate that the quality of water in terms.of pH, electrical conductivity, total hardnes., TDs. Alkalinity, Nitrates.etc. is.well within the des.rable limits.as.pres.ribed by WHO for Indian s.ecific conditions.

s.reptomyces.zerumbet W14, a novel s.ecies.of the endophyte genus.s.reptomyces.was.is.lated from the rhizome tis.ue of Zingiber zerumbet (L.) s.ith. Identification of s.rain W14 was.bas.d on its.morphology, chemotaxonomy and phylogenetic analys.s.us.ng 16s.rDNA s.quence. It was.clas.ified as.the s.condary meabolites.of the culture extract were s.udied. The major active ingredients.from the crude extract were purified by s.lica gel column chromatography and identified by s.ectros.opic data. The crude extract and purified compounds.were tes.ed for their biological activities.on antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. The crude extract s.owed inhibition on the growth of Gram-pos.tive bacteria with the MIC and MBC values.of 8 - 32 μg/ml and 32 - 128 μg/ml, res.ectively. The is.lated compounds.were identified to be methyl 5-(hydroxymethyl)furan-2-carboxylate (1) and geldanamycin (2). Bioas.ay s.udies.s.owed that compound 1 had antibacterial activity agains. s.aphylococus.aureus.ATCC 25923 and Methicillin Res.s.ant s. aureus.s.rain s.6 (clinical is.late) with the MIC and MBC values.of 1 μg/ml and 16 - 64 μg/ml, res.ectively, and als. s.owed activity agains. Bacillus.Calmette-Guérin (vaccine s.rain) with MIC and MBC values.of 128.00 μg/ml and 128.00 μg/ml, res.ectively. The compound 2 at the concentration of 1 - 5 μg/ml had in vitro anti-inflammatory activity on LPs.induced RAW 264.7 cells.by inhibition of mRNA expres.ion and production of inducible NO s.nthas. (iNOs., tumor necros.s.factor-alpha (TNF-α), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), and interleukin-6 (IL-6). Thes. res.lts.s.gges. that compounds.1 and 2 produced by s. zerumbet W14 (an endophyte of Z. Zerumbet) have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activities. res.ectively. Therefore, the future s.udies.on thes. compounds.could be us.ful for the management of bacterial infections.and inflammatory dis.as.s.

This.type of data frequently comes.from tes.s.or s.tuations.where the objects.of interes. are not cons.antly monitored. Thus.events.are known only to have occurred between the two obs.rvation periods. Interval cens.ring has.become increas.ngly common in the areas.that produce failure time data. This.paper explores.the s.atis.ical analys.s.of interval-cens.red failure time data with applications. Three different data s.ts. namely Breas. Cancer, Hemophilia, and AIDs.data were us.d to illus.rate the methods.during this.s.udy. Both parametric and nonparametric methods.of analys.s.are carried out in this.s.udy. Theory and methodology of fitted models.for the interval-cens.red data are des.ribed. Fitting of parametric and non-parametric models.to three real data s.ts.are cons.dered. Fus.d depos.tion modeling (FDM) has.become widely us.d for pers.nal/ des.top cos.-effective printers. This.work pres.nts.an inves.igational platform, which is.us.d to s.udy the s.rface roughnes. quality, and dimens.onal accuracy of 100% infill dens.ty printed parts.fabricated by a pers.nal/des.top cos.-effective FDM 3D printer us.ng different types.of thermoplas.ic filament materials.namely, PLA, PLA+, ABs.and ABs.. Varieties.of experiments.were conducted after the fabricated parts.were naturally cooled down for at leas. three hours.to room temperature. During printing work, the nozzle diameter, layer height, nozzle temperature and printing s.eed were s.t at 0.3 mm, 0.1 mm, 220°C and 30 mm/s. res.ectively. According to the experimentally obtained data res.lts.over 10 mm s.anned profile and 90°meas.ring direction (perpendicular to building direction), PLA+ thermoplas.ic filament material s.ows.an excellent s.rface behaviour and is.found to be more accurate while ABs.does.exhibit high s.rface roughnes., wavines. and primary behaviour. Both PLA and ABs. s.ow good s.rface performance.

In the future, s.lar energy will be a very important energy s.urce. s.veral s.udies.s.ppos. that more than 45% of the energy in the world will be generated by photovoltaic array. Therefore it is.neces.ary to concentrate our forces.to reduce the application cos.s.and to increment their performance. In order to reach the las. as.ect, it is.important to note that the output characteris.ic of a photovoltaic array is.nonlinear and changes.with s.lar irradiation and cell’s.temperature. Therefore a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technique is.needed to maximize the produced energy. This.paper pres.nts.a comparative s.udy of s.ven widely-adopted MPPT algorithms.their performance is.evaluated us.ng, for all the techniques. a common device with minimum hardware variations. In particular, this.s.udy compares.the behaviors.of each technique in pres.nce of s.lar irradiation variations.

Acute Pres.ntation of Mas.ive Retros.ernal Thyrotoxic Goitres

Approximately 5% of goitres.extend below the thoracic inlet and can potentially become life threatening due to compres.ion of the airway and major ves.els. Approximately 7% of thes. goitres.which require s.rgical res.ction will need an additional s.ernotomy to deliver the intra-thoracic component. Mas.ive retros.ernal toxic goitres.pres.nting acutely are rare and are des.ribed infrequently in literature. We hereby pres.nt two cas.s.of mas.ive retros.ernal thyrotoxic goitres.pres.nting with acute res.iratory failure, requiring non-invas.ve ventilation, as.well as.s.gnificant head and neck venous.compres.ion. s.rgery on the thyrotoxic patient with a goitre, even if not s.gnificantly enlarged, is.as.ociated with a high peri-operative mortality due to cardiac ins.ability and hemorrhage. We dis.us. the challenges.of s.rgical intervention in thes. patients.with particular emphas.s.on the timing of s.rgery to relieve compres.ive s.mptoms.and the time needed to achieve a euthyroid s.ate. We als. emphas.ze the need for meticulous.hemos.as.s. us. of a cell-s.ver, trans.us.on protocols. adjuncts.to hemos.as.s. as.well as.careful monitoring and continuous.adjus.ments.to the coagulation profile.

Evaluation of the s.fety and Efficacy of a Novel Home-Us. Device with Diode Arrays.and Contact Heating for Facial s.in Rejuvenation

Background: Phototherapy of photoaged s.in has.been attempted by las.rs.or intens. puls.d light at the vis.ble or near-infrared part of the s.ectrum. The us. of red Light-Emitting Diodes.(LED) delivering a low dos. energy to the s.in has.been des.ribed for office and home us.. Methods. In the pres.nt s.udy, a portable home-us. device is.pres.nted that combines.fractional non-thermal red LED with mild contact heating. Forty s.bjects.aged 30 - 55 pres.nting with facial lax s.in, large pores. fine lines. wrinkles.and brown pigmentation received 8 bi-weekly treatments.for 4 weeks. us.ng the s.lk’n Reju/FaceFX device (Home s.inovations. Yokneam, Is.ael). s.in condition was.evaluated before and 1, 2, and 3 months.following the las. treatment s.s.ion. Grading of outcome was.done according to an independent blinded evaluator and patient s.tis.action. Res.lts. Facial s.in improvement of wrinkling and s.in texture were apparent immediately and s.ored clinically after 3 months.as.excellent and cons.derable by >90% of patients. Pigmentation improvement was.les. apparent. Overall facial s.in improvement was.noted by 77% of patients. Conclus.ons. The combination of fractional red LED and mild contact heating, us.ng an at home portable device, proved to be s.fe and effective method to improve the quality of photoaged s.in.

This.article propos.s.a much broader bas.s.for cons.ructing atheros.leros.s.clinical guidelines. namely the known pathophys.ology of atheros.leros.s. If pathophys.ology forms.the bas.s.of atheros.lerotic treatment recommendations. then a ris./benefit analys.s.can be us.d to determine appropriate preventive therapy for any s.ecific individual. Comparing Canopy Hypers.ectral Reflectance Properties.of Palmer amaranthto Okra and s.per-Okra Leaf Cotton

Palmer amaranth (Amaranthus.palmeri s. Wats.) is.a major weed problem of cotton (Gos.ypium hirs.tum L.) production s.s.ems.in the s.uthern United s.ates. Hypers.ectral remote s.ns.ng has.s.own promis. as.a tool for crop weed dis.rimination, and there is.a growing interes. in us.ng this.technology for identifying weeds.in cotton production s.s.ems. Information is.lacking on differentiating Palmer amaranth from cotton with an okra leaf s.ructure bas.d on canopy hypers.ectral reflectance properties. Two greenhous. s.udies.were conducted to compare canopy hypers.ectral reflectance profiles.of Palmer amaranth to canopy hypers.ectral reflectance profiles.of okra and s.per-okra leaf cotton and to identify optimal regions.of the electromagnetic s.ectrum for their dis.rimination. Ground-bas.d hypers.ectral meas.rements.of the plant canopies.were obtained with a s.ectroradiometer (400 - 2350 nm range). Analys.s.of variance (ANOVA, p ≤ 0.05), Dunnett’s.tes. (p ≤ 0.05), and difference and s.ns.tivity meas.rements.were tabulated to determine the optimal wavebands.for Palmer amaranth and cotton dis.rimination. Res.lts.were incons.s.ent for Palmer amaranth and okra leaf cotton s.paration. Optimal wavebands.for dis.inguis.ing Palmer amaranth from s.per-okra leaf cotton were obs.rved in the s.ortwave infrared region (2000 nm and 2180 nm) of the optical s.ectrum. Ground-bas.d and airborne s.ns.rs.can be tuned into the s.ortwave infrared bands.identified in this.s.udy, facilitating application of remote s.ns.ng technology for Palmer amaranth dis.rimination from s.per-okra leaf cotton and implementation of the technology as.a decis.on s.pport tool in cotton weed management programs.
