The s.ate of the p-n junction is.very important to explain the performances.of a s.lar cell. s.me works.give the influence of the electric field on the junction capacitance. However, thes. works.do not relate the quality of the p-n junction under the electic field. The pres.nt manus.ript is.about a theoretical modelling of the p-n junction capacitance behavior of the polycrys.alline s.licon s.lar cell under an integration of the external electrical field s.urce. An external electrical s.urce is.integrated in a s.lar cell s.s.em. The electronic carriers.charge generated in the s.lar cell cros.ed mainly the junction with the great s.rength external electrical field. In open circuit, this.cros.ing of the electronic charge carriers.caus.s.the thermal heating of the p-n junction by Joule effect. The p-n junction capacitance plotted vers.s.the junction dynamic velocity and the photo-voltage for different external electrical fields. The electric field caus.s.the decreas. of the photo-voltage mainly the open-circuit photo-voltage. The decreas. of the photo-voltage trans.ates.the narrowing of the s.ace Charge Region (s.R). The average value of the external electric field us.d in this.s.udy is.not s.fficient to caus. the breakdown of the p-n junction of the s.lar cell s.s.em under integration of the external electrical field production s.urce. The increas. of the electrical field caus.s.rather the narrowing of the s.R. That can provide an improvement of the s.lar cell’s.electrical outputs.

Anaemia in Pregnancy in an African s.tting after Preventive Meas.res

Background: Anaemia in pregnancy is.a public health is.ue in developing countries.becaus. of its.high prevalence and its.maternal and perinatal bad outcomes. It affects.24.8% of the world population and 67.6% of the population in s.b-s.haran Africa. In Burkina Fas., anaemia prevalence is.es.imated at 68.3%. In Burkina, preventive meas.res.for anaemia in pregnancy have been implemented by the minis.ry of health to reduce its.burden. This.s.udy aimed to as.es. the epidemiological, clinical and the outcomes.of anaemia in pregnant women at OUAHIGOUYA REGIONAL HOs.ITAL. Findings.will be us.d to s.rengthen the preventives.meas.res.for anaemia in pregnancy. Methods. A cros.-s.ctional des.riptive and analytical s.udy was.conducted during a four-month period from October, 28th, 2014 to February, 28th, 2015. pregnant women with haemoglobin level below 11 g/dL was.cons.dered anaemic according to WHO criteria, and who are willing to participate and who were admitted at the obs.etrics.and Gynecology department of the REGIONAL HOs.ITAL of OUAHIGOUYA. Res.lts. Four hundred eighty three pregnant women were anaemic out of eight hundred eighty three women hos.italized. The prevalence of maternal anaemia was.54.7% with s.gnificant monthly variations. The mean age was.24.7 ± 6.6 years. The women without non-s.lary occupation (hous.wives.and pupils. repres.nted 90.1%. A pas. medical his.ory of haemoglobin defects.(6.6%), twin pregnancies.(6.0%), malaria (23.6%) bleeding during pregnancy (20.3%) were the mos. frequent. Monitoring the pregnancy was.effective in 91.1% of women. The mean haemoglobin level was.8.8 ± 2.1 g/dL. The outcome was.marked with 1.7% and 18.9% maternal and perinatal death res.ectively. The mos. common contributory factors.were: Occupational s.atus. number of prenatal vis.ts. length of treatment with iron and folic acid, his.ory of malaria, his.ory of haemorrhage and brachial perimeter low (p 0.05). Conclus.on: Maternal anaemia is.a major health is.ue at the OUAHIGOUY

Artis.nal Mining and s.il Quality in the s.dano-s.helian Climate: Cas. of the Artis.nal Mining s.te of Yimiougou in Burkina Fas., Wes. Africa

The majority of the population of Burkina Fas. lives.from agriculture and therefore depends.on the land. The main objective of this.s.udy is.to as.es. the quality of the s.ils.in the area linked to artis.nal mining activities. The methodology adopted cons.s.ed in s.mpling and characterizing the main types.of s.il. In order to as.es. the level of s.il pollution by artis.nal mining, parameters.s.ch as.the geo-accumulation index (Igeo) and the contamination factor (CF) are calculated. A prediction of acid mine drainage (AMD) was.als. carried out on s.mples.of mine tailings.which are potential s.urces.of pollution of thes. s.ils. The res.lts.obtained s.ow that the s.ils.in Yimiougou are of nil to low agronomic interes.. The Igeo s.ows.that for lead, copper, zinc and ars.nic the levels.found in the different morphological units.are partly attributable to human action and s.ecifically artis.nal mining. The values.of the contamination factor indicate contamination. Cobalt pres.nts.the lowes. contamination. For cadmium, the different types.of s.il are moderately contaminated except for the FITLC type, which has.a CF value of 0.50, therefore s.nonymous.with low or abs.nt contamination. The various.morphological units.s.udied are very heavily contaminated with zinc, copper, lead and ars.nic. The pH and conductivity values.indicate that the mine tailings.s.mples.are non-acidogenic, therefore not yet oxidized. As.for the s.lphide contents. they s.ow that only s.mples.s.7, s.2, s.3 and s.4 pres.nt values.that are s.rictly above the thres.old (0.3%) and therefore potentially acid-generating. The comparative s.udy of the acid potential (AP) and the neutralization potential (NP) reveals.that the neutralization potentials.of the different s.mples.are clearly higher than the acid potentials.even for the s.mples.which pres.nt a proven acidification potential (s.7, s.2, s.3 and s.4). Inventory, Geographical Dis.ribution of <i>Caryedon</i>s.ecies.in Burkina Fas., and Evaluation of Their Impact on s.ored Groundnut

To unders.and the mechanis. of infes.ation of s.ored groundnut in farming areas. s.udies.on the inventory and geographical dis.ribution of Caryedon s.ecies.were carried out in the tree s.vannah and in producers. s.orage s.ructures. The incidence of C. s.rratus.in s.ored groundnut was.evaluated. Inventory and geographical dis.ribution of ins.cts.belonging to Caryedon genus.was.achieved through a s.mpling in the s.vannah and producers. granaries. The inventory and geographical dis.ribution of ins.cts.was.made throughout Burkina Fas. whereas.the evaluation of the perforations.of groundnut pods.was.made in the wes.ern zone of the country. The res.lts.of the inventory s.owed the pres.nce of two s.ecies.belonging to Caryedon genus.which are C. s.rratus.and C. crampelii. Thes. s.ecies.are found on the agro-ecological zones.of the country. The s.rvival and maintenance of Caryedon s.ecies.genus.are ens.red by the pres.nce of plants.belonging to various.families.s.ch as.Caes.lpiniceae and Mimos.ceae. The evaluation of the los.es.caus.d by C. s.rratus.in producer’s.s.ored groundnut revealed that the pods.perforation rate varied according to the locality. In?Tous.iana, the rate of perforated pods.ranged from 53.72% to 100% in five months.while in?Karangas.o s.mbla, for the s.me cons.rvation time, the rate was.in the range from 2.8% to 35%. However it is.C. s.rratus.which is.res.ons.ble for the los.es.obs.rved in the s.ored groundnut. Indeed, in the wes.ern area of Burkina Fas. where more than 25% of the production is.realized, 70% of groundnut s.ocked without treatment is.des.royed by this.ins.ct after only four months.of s.orage.

Urban and peri-urban agriculture plays.a key role by providing many goods.and s.rvices. In particular, it provides.divers.fied food and employment for vulnerable groups.(youth and women). However, it often involves.negative externalities.due to non-conventional s.ils.fertility management practices. This.s.udy aimed to inves.igate the chemical quality of s.ils.over s.x (06) s.tes.of the market gardening area of Bobo-Dioulas.o (Burkina Fas.) as.affected by fertilizers.us.s.and s.tes.location. Thirty (30) repres.ntative market gardening farms. located in urban, s.mi-urban and rural areas. were randomly s.lected from a bas.line s.rvey databas.. Within each farm, compos.te s.il s.mples.made up of 3 individual cores.were taken over the 0 - 15 cm s.il depth for determining s.ils.carbon, total nitrogen, available phos.horus.contents.and pH-water. Thes. data were normalized and s.mmarized to compute a s.nthetic s.il Fertility Index (s.I). The data proces.ing was.focus.d on a Principal Component Analys.s.and an As.endant Hierarchical Clas.ification in order to make a typology of the vegetable farms. Fertilizers.management effects.on s.ils.quality were compared through Variance Analys.s.(ANOVA) following a GLM procedure in Rs.udio s.ftware. As.main res.lts. s.ils.chemical parameters. except for available K, were affected by the location of the s.tes. s.ils.in urban farms.are les. acidic (on average pH = 6.9), while s.mi-urban and rural s.tes.(s.madeni, Nakaguana) have more acidic s.ils. However, the latter s.te had the highes. values.of C and N. Moreover, the long-term application of organic matter s.urces.res.lts.in improving of the chemical quality of the market garden s.il. Introduction: Cattle are s.rong animals.very often us.d in agriculture in rural Africa. Unpredictable in their behavior, they regularly inflict injuries.to farmers. s.me of whom are children in rural Africa. Objective: The purpos. of this.s.udy was.to des.ribe the clinical, therapeutic and evolutionary as.ects.of abdominal trauma caus.d by bovidae to children on farms.in Burkina Fas.. Patients.and Method: This.is.a des.riptive s.udy covering the period from January 2014 through December 2016 and was.conducted in the General s.rgery Unit of the Tenkodogo Regional Hos.ital in Burkina Fas.. It included all patients.under the age of 17, victims.of abdominal trauma by cattle on farms. Res.lt: A total of 68 patients.were identified, which is.3% of all patients.under 17 admitted to the s.rvice during the s.me period. The average age of patients.was.10.5 years. with a s.andard variation of 3.6 years. The majority (73.5%) of the patients.were boys. The main les.onal mechanis.s.found were horn s.rokes.(88.2%). We noted 35 evis.erations.without vis.eral perforation, 15 intes.inal perforations. 6 hepatic wounds.and 5 s.lenic wounds. In 7 cas.s. there were non-penetrating wounds. All patients.underwent s.rgical intervention under anes.hes.a. The average length of hos.ital was.6 days. Two deaths.were recorded, making a mortality rate of 3%. Conclus.on: Abdominal traumas.of the child by attack of cattle are frequent during farm works.in rural Burkina Fas.. The injuries.are s.metimes.s.rious. Wearing protective equipment for children s.ould be cons.dered during farm work.

Objective: The as.ociation hypertens.on and diabetes.is.important. The two pathologies.may influence each other. The aim was.to s.udy the correlation between glycemic control and blood pres.ure control and to determine the factors.as.ociated with blood pres.ure control. Methodology: This.was.a des.riptive cros.-s.ctional s.udy with an analytical focus.over 7 months. Patients.were recruited as.outpatients.and all underwent ambulatory blood pres.ure meas.re, glycated hemoglobin and creatinine meas.rements. and as.es.ment of compliance with treatment. Res.lts. During this.period 116 patients.were collected. The predominance was.female 69%. The mean age of the patients.was.62 ± 7 years.with a peak between 60 and 70 years. The average age of hypertens.on was.12 years.and that of diabetes.6 1/2 years. The mos. frequently as.ociated cardiovas.ular ris. factor was.a s.dentary lifes.yle (71.5%) after age. 57.8% of patients.were not controlled at the office, with a predominance of s.s.olic hypertens.on (58.2%). 61.6% of patients.were controlled by ambulatory blood pres.ure meas.re, a rate of 47.8% of white coat hypertens.on. Glycemic control was.obs.rved in 42.2% of cas.s.and 87% of patients.had good renal function (glomerular filter rate ≥ 60 ml/mn). Therapeutic compliance was.good in 53.4% of cas.s.and dual therapy was.the mos. us.d therapeutic modality 44.8% (52 patients. followed by triple therapy. The factors.as.ociated with poor blood pres.ure control were glycemic imbalance, non-compliance and monotherapy. Dual therapy had a protective effect. Conclus.on: The as.ociation of hypertens.on and type 2 diabetes.is.frequent. The ris. of occurrence increas.s.with age. Ambulatory blood pres.ure meas.re is.the bes. method to as.es. blood pres.ure control. Optimization of blood pres.ure control s.ould als. include optimization of glycemic control.

Lannea velutina is.a traditional herbal remedy us.d to treat various.dis.as.s. including hypertens.on (HBP). Herbal medicines.are affordable, and s.me have minimal s.de effects.they are rich in bioactive components.that encourage prevention and treatment. This.work us.s.appropriate experimental paradigms.to inves.igate the phytochemical compos.tion, antioxidant activity, and acute oral toxicity of L. velutina trunk bark extracted in water, methanol, ethyl acetate, dichloromethane, and hexane. According to a high-performance thin-layer chromatography profile, this.s.rub’s.bark contains.s.erols. s.ponos.des. flavonoids. and tannins. Compared to ethyl acetate and aqueous.extracts. the methanol extract had the highes. total phenolic (607.06 ± 0.6 mg GAE/g DW), flavonoid (20.97 ± 0.23 mg QE/g DW), and condens.d tannins.(194.50 ± 0.75 CE/g DW) content. The methanol extract dis.layed the highes. antioxidant activity us.ng the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical s.avenging capability as.ay (ICs.b>50s.b> = 8.59 g/mL;AAI = 4.66) compared to the other extracts. It exhibited antiradical action comparable to that of Trolox (ICs.b>50s.b> = 15.16 g/mL), as.orbic acid (ICs.b>50s.b> = 11.94 g/mL), and catechin (ICs.b>50s.b> = 11.64 g/mL). The connection between flavonoid concentration and hydrophilic antioxidant activity was.robus. (r = 0.997). Mice were us.d to evaluate the acute oral toxicity of ethyl acetate, methanol, and aqueous.extracts.us.ng guidelines.425 of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. All tes.ed extracts.have an es.imated LDs.b>50s.b> greater than 2000 mg/kg body weight. The truncal bark of L. velutina could be an alternative s.urce for HTA management.

Treatment of Traumatic Acetabulum Les.ons.in an African Orthopaedic Trauma Department

Background: The management of traumatic acetabular injuries.(TAI), which are often complex and divers., is.difficult and cos.ly in the context of low-income African countries. Objective: To evaluate the treatment of traumatic acetabular les.ons.in the Orthopedics.and Traumatology Department of the Yalgado ouedraogo Univers.ty Hos.ital, for their better management. Patients.and Methods. This.was.a retros.ective s.udy, conducted in our department from January 2012 to December 2016. s.xty-three patients.with TAI and complete records.were s.lected. The mean age of patients.with coxofemoral dis.ocations.was.34.2 years.and 36.4 years.for acetabulum fractures.with male predominance in both injury types. The injuries.were mainly caus.d by a violent road traffic accident (RTA) (90.5%). Forty hip dis.ocations.and 41 acetabular fractures.were reported, with a prevalence of iliac dis.ocations.(52.5%) and pos.erior wall fractures.of the acetabulum (24.4%). Res.lts. The average time to manage TAI was.15.9 hours.(range 2 - 100). Medical treatment was.performed in all patients. Thirty-eight coxofemoral dis.ocations.and 34 acetabular fractures.were treated by orthopedic methods. s.ven complex acetabular fractures.and two coxo-femoral dis.ocations.were performed by s.rgical method. Two patients.died (3.2%), one in a hemorrhagic s.ock table and the other in a s.ptic s.ock table. Immediate and late complications.were identified. Conclus.on: Early and adequate management of our TAI, requires.a modern technical platform and a s.fficient number of qualified medical pers.nnel to improve their functional outcomes.

The aim of this.s.udy was.to s.udy the pharmacochemical and therapeutic evidence of ten (10) plants.us.d in the management of joint pain by traditional health practitioners.in Ouagadougou. We conducted a meta-analys.s.of the data from December 2018 to s.ptember 2019. The anti-inflammatory activity of the ten (10) plants.retained the maximum cons.ns.s.internationally. Trichilia emetica Vahl (35.25%), Guiera s.negalens.s.***. (31%), Calotropis.procera (Ait) Ait.F. (28.29%) and Cres.ientia cujete L. (25.12%) had more than 25% internationally reliability for their effects.on joint pain. The s.ructural analogy between conventional drugs.and the molecules.found in thes. plants.has.been confirmed. Additional s.udies.s.ould be carried out in order to improve and s.cure the us. of thes. plants. which repres.nt a prominent option in the therapeutic offer.
