Due to concerns regarding the future availability,cost,and safety of lithium in Li-ion batteries(LIBs),researchers are exploring alternative chemistries such as Na-ion,Li-s,Li-air,and multivalent ion *** ion technologies,which utilize divalent or trivalent ions,like Mg^(2+),Ca^(2+),and Al^(3+),show promise in achieving greater energy densities than LIBs due to their ability to deposit uniformly on anodes and intercalate into *** magnesium-ion batteries(MIBs) have been the primary area of research for multivalent ion batteries,the cost-effectiveness and abundance of calcium have sparked a growing interest in calcium-ion batteries(CIBs) in recent *** to LIBs,CIBs have the potential to provide longer cycle life,enhanced safety,and increased energy ***,the development of CIBs comes with several challenges,such as finding suitable electrode and electrolyte materials that ensure the stability and safety of the *** primary hurdle in CIBs lies in the plating/stripping *** is a significant hindrance preventing the occurrence of plating/stripping in CIBs,which lies in the formation of a passive layer resulting from the decomposition of the *** objective of this article is to examine the advancements made in ***,it aims to comprehensively assess the mechanisms and materials employed in various battery components,as well as the obstacles encountered in *** includes recent advancements in electrode materials,electrolytes,cell configurations,and the challenges and opportunities for enhancing the performance and commercial viability of CIBs.

Excessive heavy metal concentrations in water can pose a threat to human *** research analyzed 160 groundwater samples used for hygiene and sanitation,of which 62 were used for consumption,and 98 other types of drinking water were *** research findings indicate that 6%of groundwater for hygiene and sanitation and 13%of drinking water(7.8%groundwater,5.2%refill water)were deemed unfit for use due to elevated concentrations of certain heavy metals surpassing the maximum ***,Cd,Co,Hg,Mn,and Pb were detected in several drinking water samples deemed unsuitable for *** heavy metals suspected to originate from natural sources are Co,Fe,Mn,As,and Zn,while Pb,Cd,Hg,and Co are suspected to have anthropogenic *** arsenic exposure through the ingestion pathway posed a non-carcinogenic health risk to the local *** were found to be more susceptible than adult males and *** estimated average non-carcinogenic risk levels based on the water sources were refill water>well water>rainwater>spring ***,it is essential to monitor raw water sources at refill water depots in the study area and implement policies related to the quality of raw water sources,technology maintenance processes,and the quality of processed water from refill water ***,the community should be educated about householdscale water treatment to minimize health risks and consider using untreated well water and rainwater for consumption.

Hybrid ameloblastoma in a nigerian: Report of a case and review of literature

Background: Hybrid Ameloblastoma is a rare type of ameloblastoma that is presently receiving attention in some quarters. Altogether, less than 30 cases have been reported in the scientific literature, thus calling for the need to report more cases in order to add to the body of knowledge on this lesion. This case report is aimed to add to the number of cases that are building up in the scientific literature. Materials and Methods: A 50-year-old female presented with a 3-year history of an anterior mandibular swelling extending from the body of the mandible on the right to the body of the mandible on the left. Orthopantomograph of the lesion revealed a mixed radiolucent and radiopaque lesion that extended from the distal region of the right mandibular second premolar to distal region of the left mandibular second molar. segmental mandibulectomy with immediate replacement with reconstruction was undertaken. Results: specimen which was subjected to histopathologic examination reported a diagnosis of Keratinizing Follicular Ameloblastoma and Desmoplastic Ameloblastoma with Osteoplasia, consistent with a diagnosis of Hybrid Ameloblastoma. There has been no sign of recurrence 7 months after a regular follow-up and the patient is planned for a long term follow-up. Conclusion: Besides histological details that combine both conventional ameloblastoma and desmoplastic ameloblastoma, the present case of hybrid ameloblastoma bears similar clinical features as well as treatment modalities to that of conventional solid multicystic ameloblastoma.

Factors Associated with Acute Respiratory Infections in Children Aged 0 - 5 Years in the Yénawa District of Cotonou (Benin) in 2023

Introduction: Acute respiratory infections remain one of the main causes of mortality in children aged 0 to 5. This work aimed to study the associated factors with the occurrence of acute respiratory infections in children 0 to 5 years old in Yénawa, Cotonou in 2023. subjects and Method: It was an analytical cross-sectional study of children aged 0 - 5 years and their mothers in Yénawa, selected by four-degree random sampling. The sampling size, calculated using the schwartz formula, was 126 children and 126 mothers. The dependent variable was the occurrence of acute respiratory infections. The independent variables were classified into four groups: socio-demographic and economic characteristics, behavioral factors, child-related factors, and environmental factors. Data collected by observation and questionnaire survey were analyzed using sTATA version 15 software. Associated factors were investigated by bivariate analysis and multiple logistic regression, at the 5% significance level. Results: A total of 126 children aged 0 - 5 years and 126 mothers were surveyed, aged 23.5 (11 - 36) months and 30 (18 - 48) years respectively. The prevalence of acute respiratory infections was 74.60% (CI95% = 66.89 to 82.30). The associated factors were the mother’s age between 18 and 28 (OR = 10.77;CI95% = 1.89 to 61.27;p = 0.007), the use of charcoal/wood for cooking (OR = 7.36;IC = 1.99 to 27.10;p = 0.003)), children's poor personal hygiene (OR = 8.87;IC = 2.92 to 26.97;p 0.001)), and cohabitation with domestic animals (OR = 7.27;IC = 1.67 to 31.71;p = 0.015). Conclusion: Communicating with mothers about the factors identified will help reduce the prevalence of acute respiratory infections in children aged 0 to 5.

Objective Alzheimer＇s disease（AD） is one of the most important neurodegenerative *** is characterized by dementia including def icits in learning and *** present study aimed to evaluate the effects of aqueous extract of lavender（Lavandula angustifolia） on spatial performance of AD *** Male Wistar rats were f irst divided into control and AD *** model of AD was established by intracerebroventricular injection of 10 ？g A？1-42 20 d prior to administration of the lavender *** in both groups were then introduced to 2 stages of task learning（with an interval of 20 d） in Morris water maze,each followed by one probe *** the f irst stage of spatial learning,control and AD animals received different doses（50,100 and 200 mg/kg） of the lavender *** In the first stage of experiment,the latency to locate the hidden platform in AD group was significantly higher than that in control ***,in the second stage of experiment,control and AD rats that received distilled water（vehicle） showed similar performance,indicating that the maze navigation itself could improve the spatial learning of AD ***,in the second stage of experiment,control and AD rats that received lavender extract administration at different doses（50,100,and 200 mg/kg） spent less time locating the platform（except for the AD rats with 50 mg/kg extract treatment）,as compared with their counterparts with vehicle treatment,*** addition,lavender extract significantly improved the performance of control and AD rats in the probe test,only at the dose of 200 mg/kg,as compared with their counterparts with vehicle *** The lavender extract can effectively reverse spatial learning def icits in AD rats.

An important marker in neurodegenerative Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is abnormal production of amyloid beta (Aβ) peptide leading to formation of plaques in the brain. Through decreasing Aβ aggregates, anti-inflammatory agents, phagocytosis, and proteolytic enzymes are known to decline risk of Aβ plaque formation. In the previous study we showed that aqueous extract of Lavandula angustifolia (lavender), with known anti-inflammatory effects, improves memory deficits in animal model of Alzheimer. Here, we assess if lavender play a role in clearance of Aβ plaques in the hippocampus. The Alzheimeric animals were created with intracerebroventricular injection of Aβ 1-42. To confirm formation of Aβ plaques, brain sections were stained by Congo red method. Twenty days post-injection they were administered with different doses (50, 100 and 200 mg/kg) of the aqueous extract of lavender for duration of 20 days. Our results demonstrated that 50 mg/kg of lavender not effectively influenced the Aβ plaques. On the other hand, the herbal medicine at the doses of 100 and 200 mg/kg markedly decreased the extent of Aβ aggregates. We concluded that the lavender extract dose dependently underlies elimination of Aβ plaques. The exact mechanism by which the herbal medicine removes the Aβ aggregates needs to be elucidated.

The Nigerian coastline which stretches about 853 km has four distinct morphological zones namely, Barrier Lagoon, Mahin Mud coast, Niger Delta and strand coast. Nigeria’s coastal zone is richly blessed with various natural resources like oil, gas, fish, sand etc., which are presently being exploited for economic development. Coastal populations have increased erratically from about 20% of the National population in 1993 to approximately 51,037,122 m (30% of the national population) in 2011. Development of coastal areas in Nigeria is accelerating and user conflicts are increasing. Both natural and anthropogenic activities in the coastal zone are leading to coastal hazards and eventual rapid degradation of the area. significant coastal hazards include coastal erosion, storm surges, floods, land subsidence, pollution, especially oil spills and possibly seismicity, which could lead to earthquakes and tsunamis. These hazards are leading to disasters and effecting the socio-economic sustainability of the coastal area.

[(η5-C5H4Me)Mo(CO)2PPh3I] undergoes solid state transformation on the formation of a good pellet for FT IR measurement. There was a formation of the products mixture on pelleting using different diluents of group I metal salts on either the cis or the trans isomer of the [(η5-C5H4Me)Mo(CO)2PPh3I] complex. The cis or the trans isomer gave the same IR spectra i.e. a mixture of cis and trans isomer of the complex. It does not matter the isomer started with in the course of solid state transformation reaction, an equilibrium ratio of 30/70 (trans/cis) will still be achieved. The solid state IR spectra show very strong peaks at νco 1957, 1947 and strong peaks at 1867, 1853 cm–1. The individual IR cis/trans isomer will therefore show at 1947 and 1853/1957 and 1867 cm–1. The solution IR spectra gave, cis = 1961, 1875 and trans = 1963, 1882 cm–1 in dry CHCl3. Hence, most of the solid state IR measurement of the organometallic complex of the type (η5-C5H4Me)Mo(CO)2(PPh3)I on pelleting will give isomer mixture.
