Physiological and biochemical appraisal for mulching and partial rhizosphere drying of cotton

Water is the main factor for the healthy life of *** of the main negative effects of climate change is the increasing scarcity of water that is lethal for ***,for water deficit regions(arid and semi-arid),drought is the main factor responsible for low production of agriculture,especially for *** efforts have been and are being made to find alternatives to water saving *** study aimed to examine the effects of partial rhizosphere drying(PRD,half of the root system irrigated at one event,and the other half irrigated in the next event,and so on)with and/or without various mulching treatments on physiological and biochemical traits of *** explore this objective,we laid out experiments in completely randomized design with factorial arrangement in the Islamia University of Bahawalpur,Pakistan in *** factors included were four mulching treatments(M0,no mulching;M1,black plastic mulching;M2,wheat straw mulching;and M3,cotton sticks mulching)and two irrigation levels(I0,control(full irrigation);and I1,PRD).Fisher's analysis of variance among means of treatments was compared using least significant difference test at 5% probability *** revealed that the maximum plant height,leaf area,leaf gas exchange(photosynthetic rate and stomata conductance),chlorophyll,proline and total sugar contents,and enzyme activities were higher under M2 than under other three mulching *** for irrigation levels,higher values of plant height,photosynthesis and water related parameters(leaf water potential,leaf osmotic potential,leaf turgor potential,etc.)were *** of total sugar and proline and activities of antioxidant enzymes were significantly higher in PRD-treated plants than in control *** was concluded that combined application of PRD and mulching was more effective than the rest of the treatments used in the *** study can be conducted in the field by applying irrigation water in alternate row

Fate of rubber bush (Calotropis procera (Aiton) W. T. Aiton) in adversary environment modulated by microstructural and functional attributes

Calotropis procera(Aiton)***,belonging to the family Apocynaceae,is C3 evergreen plant species in arid and semi-arid areas of the Punjab Province,*** grows in a variety of habitats like salt affected and waterlogged area,desert/semi-desert,roadside,wasteland,graveyard,forest,crop field,coastline,and river/canal bank.A total of 12 populations growing in different ecological regions were sampled to evaluate their growth,physio-biochemical,and anatomical responses to specific environmental *** adapted to desert/semi-desert showed vigorous growth(plant height,shoot length,and number of leaves),enhanced photosynthetic level(chlorophyll a,chlorophyll b,carotenoids,and total chlorophyll),and apparent anatomical modifications such as increased stem radius,cuticle thickness,storage parenchyma tissues(cortex and pith),and vascular bundles in stems,while the maximum of midrib and lamina thickness,epidermal cells,cuticle thickness,cortical proportion,abaxial stomatal density,and its area in *** was high plasticity in structural and functional features of these populations,which enable them to survive and tolerate under such hot and dry desert *** of saline areas exhibited very critical modifications to sustain under salt prone *** physiological level,it possesses the maximum amount of organic osmolytes(glycine betaine and proline)and antioxidants(superoxide dismutase(sOD),catalase(CAT),and peroxidase(POD)),while at anatomical level,it showed intensive sclerification,large phloem region(inner and outer),pith parenchyma cells,and metaxylem vessels in stems and *** population of dry mountains showed very distinctive features,such as increased shoot ionic contents(K+and Ca2+),collenchyma and sclerenchyma thickness in stems,trichomes size,and numerous small stomata on abaxial surface of *** is concluded that no definite or precise single character can be taken as a yardstick for adjudging the biomass

Influence of cold plasma treatment on insecticidal properties of wheat seeds against red flour beetles

For the long-term fortification of warehoused crops, the insecticidal impact of cold plasma treated wheat seeds against red flour beetles are *** this study, the gain weight loss,mortality and repellency tests of cold plasma treated seeds are investigated and statistical analysis is carried out by sPss *** plasma treatment is carried out at 800 V for 1 and 4 *** results show that the minimum grain weight loss is observed in plasma treated seeds as compared to controlled *** is also observed that the mortality rate is minimum in the controlled seed while maximum at 4 min plasma ***, the repellent effect has a very small variation as compared to the controlled seed for Tribolium ***, plasma treatment can be considered as a practical and effective method for seed protection against red floor beetles particularly during long-term storage by controlling the insecticidal effects.

The prevalence of obesity continues to rise,and along with it comes a multitude of health-related *** healthcare community has consistently struggled with providing treatment options to obese patients,in part due to the reluctance of patients in pursuing the more effective(yet invasive)surgical approaches such as sleeve gastrectomy and Rou-en-Y gastric *** the other hand,the less invasive approach such as lifestyle/behavioral interventions and pharmacotherapy(Orlistat,Phenteramine,Phentermine/Topiramate,Locaserin,Naltrexon/Buproprion,and Liraglutide)have very limited efficacy,especially in the morbidly obese *** our best efforts,the epidemic of obesity continues to rise and pose enormous costs on our healthcare system and *** endoscopy is an evolving field generated to combat this epidemic through minimally invasive *** procedures can be performed in an ambulatory setting,are potentially reversible,repeatable,and pose less complications than their invasive surgical *** modalities are designed to alter gut metabolism by means of space occupation,malabsorption,or *** this review we will discuss different bariatric endoscopic options(such as intragastric balloons,endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty,endoscopic aspiration therapies and gastrointestinal bypass sleeves),their advantages and disadvantages,and suggest a new paradigm where providers may start incorporating this modality in their treatment approach for obese patients.

The modified Becke–Johnson exchange potential approximation is applied to predict the band structure,optical parameters and electron density of snMg_(2)O_(4)and snZn_(2)O_(4).The local density approximation,generalized gradient approximation(GGA),EV-GGA significantly underestimate the direct band gap values compared to modified Becke–Johnson *** band gap dependent optical parameters such as dielectric constant,index of refraction,reflectivity,and optical conductivity are calculated and analyzed.A prominent feature of cation replacement is observed and analyzed for these studied *** replacement of the cation Mg by Zn leads to a significant reduction in the value of band gap and consequently affects its dependant optical *** variation is of crucial importance for device fabrication in different regions of the spectrum.

Electronic and Optical Properties of spinel GeMg2O4 and GeCd2O4

Oxide spinels have potential applications in optoelectronics and optics *** this work the electronic band structure and optical properties of GeMg2O4 and GeCd2O4 are calculated by first principles technique based on the new potential approximation known as the modified Becke-Johnson exchange potential approximation(mBJ).The local density and generalized gradient approximations significantly underestimate the direct band gap values compared to the *** band gap dependent optical parameters such as dielectric constant,refractive index,reflectivity and optical conductivity are calculated and *** replacement of the cation is observed and analyzed for the compounds studied and a prominent change is *** replacement of the cation Mg by Cd reduces the band gap and its dependent optical *** device fabrication in different regions of the spectrum this variation is strongly recommended.

Electronic Band Profile and Optical Response of spinel MgIn_(2)O_(4)through Modified Becke-Johnson Potential

We employ the first-principles technique based on the modified Becke–Johnson(BJ)exchange potential for the prediction of the electronic band structure,optical properties,and electron density of the cubic MgIn_(2)O_(4)spinel *** is found that the calculated band gap value with the modified BJ approximation is significantly improved over the results based on the generalized gradient approximation and the local density approximation in comparison to the experimental *** band gap dependent optical parameters such as the dielectric constant,refractive index,reflectivity,optical conductivity,and electron density are *** optical response suggests that MgIn_(2)O_(4)is an applicant material in optoelectronic devices in various parts of the energy spectrum like MgAl_(2)O_(4)and MgGa_(2)O_(4).

Cirrhosis results from progressive fibrosis and is the final outcome of all chronic liver disease. It is among the ten leading causes of death in United states. Cirrhosis can result in portal hypertension and/or hepatic dysfunction. Both of these either alone or in combination can lead to many complications, including ascites, varices, hepatic encephalopathy, hepatocellular carcinoma, hepatopulmonary syndrome, and coagulation disorders. Cirrhosis and its complications not only impair quality of life but also decrease survival. Managing patients with cirrhosis can be a challenge and requires an organized and systematic approach. Increasing physicians’ knowledge about prevention and treatment of these potential complications is important to improve patient outcomes. A literature search of the published data was performed to provide a comprehensive review regarding the management of cirrhosis and its complications.

Electronic and Optic Properties of Cubic spinel CdX2O4 （X=In, Ga, Al） through Modified Becke-Johnson Potential

A new potential approximation known as modified Becke-Johnson based on density functional theory is applied to compute the electronic band profile and optical response of CdIn2O4, CdGa2O4 and CDAl2O4 compounds. The direct band gap with common LDA, GGA and EV-GGA is drastically underestimated compared with modified 13ecke-Johnson approximation, whose results are significantly closer to the experimental findings. The optical properties like dielectric constant, refractive index, reflectivity, optical conductivity and absorption coefficient axe also computed. A unique characteristic associated with cation replacement is studied; the replacement of cation In by Ga and Ga by AI significantly reduces the direct energy band gap in these compounds. This variation is of crucial importance for band gap dependent optical properties of these compounds, which is also proof for applications of these compounds in optoelectronic devices.
