Garg incontinence scores: New scoring system on the horizon to evaluate fecal incontinence. Will it make a difference?

The main aim of this opinion review is to comment on the recent article published by Garg et al in the World Journal of Gastroenterology 2023;29:4593–*** authors in the published article developed a new scoring system,Garg incon-tinence scores(GIs),for fecal incontinence(FI).FI is a chronic debilitating disease that has a severe negative impact on the quality of life of the *** IV criteria define FI as multiple episodes of solid or liquid stool passed into the clothes at least twice a *** associated social stigmatization often leads to significant under-reporting of the condition,which further impairs *** important point is that the complexity and vagueness of the disease make it difficult for the patients to properly define and report the magnitude of the problem to their *** to this,the management becomes even more *** issue is resolved up to a considerable extent by a scoring *** were several scoring systems in use for the last three *** prominent of them were the Cleveland Clinic scoring system or the Wexner scoring system,*** Hospital or Vaizey’s scores,and the FI severity ***,there were several shortcomings in these scoring *** the opinion review,we tried to analyze the strength of GIs and compare it to the existing scoring *** main pitfalls in the existing scoring systems were that most of them gave equal weightage to different types of FI(solid,liquid,flatus,etc.),were not comprehensive,and took only the surgeon’s perception of FI into *** GIs,almost all shortcomings of previous scoring systems had been addressed:different weights were assigned to different types of FI by a robust statistical methodology;the scoring system was made comprehensive by including all types of FI that were previously omitted(urge,stress and mucus FI)and gave priority to patients’rather than the physicians’perceptions while developing the scoring *** to this,GIs in

With the exponential development in wearable electronics,a significant paradigm shift is observed from rigid electronics to flexible wearable ***(PANI)is considered as a dominant material in this sector,as it is endowed with the optical properties of both metal and ***,its widespread application got delineated because of its irregular rigid form,level of conductivity,and precise choice of *** PANI in textile materials can generate promising functionality for wearable *** research work employed a straightforward in-situ chemical oxidative polymerization to synthesize PANI on Cotton fabric surfaces with varying dopant(HCl)***-treatment using NaOH is implemented to improve the conductivity of the fabric surface by increasing the monomer *** research explores the morphological and structural analysis employing sEM,FTIR and *** surface resistivity was measured using a digital multimeter,and thermal stability is measured using *** successful polymerization,a homogenous coating layer is *** is revealed that the simple pre-treatment technique significantly reduces the surface resistivity of Cotton fabric to 1.27 kΩ/cm with increasing acid concentration and thermal *** electro-thermal energy can also reach up to 38.2°C within 50 s with a deployed voltage of 15 *** modified fabric is anticipated to be used in thermal regulation,supercapacitor,sensor,UV shielding,antimicrobial and other prospective functional applications.

Acceleration of Microtuber Induction in Potato by Cytokinine and Photoperiod Adjustment

Protocol was developed for acceleration of microtuber induction in potato. It was observed that cytokinine (Kin), and both dark and light period had great influence on in vitro tuberization. Regarding concentration of Kin, 8 mg/l was found excellent for microtuber induction and formation under both dark and light conditions. Under continuous dark condition, higher percentage of explants (shoot) induced microtuber was observed than the short and long period of light conditions. For increasing the number and weight of microtuber product/explant, use of long photoperiod (16 h) is recommended.

Electrochemical performance of a symmetric supercapacitor device designed using laser-induced multilayered graphene

This study demonstrates a facile and economical approach for fabricating laser-induced graphene（LIG）, which results in improved electrochemical performance. Polyimide polymer was used as a starting material for LIG synthesis and irradiated under ambient conditions using a CO2laser. The prepared LIG samples were characterized by Raman spectroscopy and FTIR, which validated the formation of multilayered graphene containing sp2 hybridized C=C bonds. The FE-sEM revealed three-dimensional sheetlike structures, while HR-TEM images displayed lattice planes with an interplanar spacing of approximately 0.33 nm, corresponding to the（002） plane of graphene. The electrochemical performance of the as-prepared LIG samples demonstrated a remarkable areal specific capacitance（CA） of 51 mF cm-2(170 F g-1) at 1 mA cm-2(3.3 A g-1) in a three-electrode configuration with 1M KOH as the aqueous electrolyte. The LIG electrodes produced an energy density of ～3.5 μWh cm-2and a power density of ～350 μW cm-2,demonstrating significant energy storage capabilities. Additionally, the electrodes exhibited excellent cyclic stability, retaining 87%of their specific capacitance after 3 000 cycles at 1 mA/cm2. The symmetric supercapacitor fabricated with LIG electrodes and the tested 1M KOH electrolyte showed a specific capacitance of 23 mF cm-2and maintained excellent retention after 10,000 cycles,showing LIG's potential for supercapacitor applications.

Mutational analysis of hepatitis E virus ORF1 'Y-domain' : Effects on RNA replication and virion infectivity

AIMTo investigate the role of non-structural open reading frame 1 “Y-domain” sequences in the hepatitis E virus (HEV) life *** of human HEV Y-domain (amino acid sequences 216-442) and closely-related viruses were analyzed in silico. site-directed mutagenesis of the Y-domain (HEV sAR55) was carried out and studied in the replicon-baculovirus-hepatoma cell model. In vitro transcribed mRNA (psK-GFP) constructs were transfected into s10-3 cells and viral RNA replicating GFP-positive cells were scored by flow cytometry. Mutant virions’ infectivity was assayed on naïve HepG2/C3A *** silico analysis identified a potential palmitoylation-site (Csub>336sub>Csub>337sub>) and an α-helix segment (Lsub>410sub>Ysub>411sub>ssub>412sub>Wsub>413sub>Lsub>414sub>Fsub>415sub>Esub>416sub>) in the HEV Y-domain. Molecular characterization of Csub>336sub>A, Csub>337sub>A and Wsub>413sub>A mutants of the three universally conserved residues showed non-viability. Further, of the 10 consecutive saturation mutants covering the entire Y-domain nucleotide sequences (nts 650-1339), three constructs (nts 788-994) severely affected virus replication. This revealed the indispensability of the internal sequences but not of the up- or downstream sequences at the transcriptional level. Interestingly, the three mutated residues corresponded to the downstream codons that tolerated saturation mutation, indicating their post-translational functional/structural essentiality. In addition, RNA secondary structure prediction revealed formation of stable hairpins (nts 788-994) where saturation mutation drastically inhibited virion *** is the first demonstration of the critical role of Y-domain sequences in HEV life cycle, which may involve gene regulation and/or membrane binding in intracellular replication complexes.

Geochemistry and petrogenesis of the Paleoproterozoic orthogneisses and granitoids of the Banded Gneissic Complex,central Rajasthan,NW India:Implications for crustal reworking processes

Granitoids and orthogneisses(1.7 Ga)from the northern part of the Banded Gneissic Complex(BGC-II domain),Aravalli Craton(NW India)are geochemically analyzed to understand the geodynamic condition and crustal evolution *** samples are metaluminous to peraluminous(molar A/CNK:0.74±2.12),and characterized by Eu-anomaly ranging from 0.17 to 1.06,Fe_(2)O_(3)^(T)/(Fe_(2)O_(3)^(T)+MgO)from 0.8 to 0.9 and high magmatic zircon saturation temperature(>830°C)which are the features suggestive of A-type granite *** discrimination diagrams classify the samples as post-collisional extensional A2-type *** characteristics along with trace element ratios[(Y/Nb)_(N)=0.15 to 4.33(avg.0.76),(Th/Nb)_(N)=4.63 to 255.47(avg.63.13),(Th/Ta)_(N)=1.37 to 9.84(avg.8.86),(Ce/Pb)_(N)=0.05 to 3.05(avg.1.43)]indicate that the rocks were derived from a plagioclase-rich and garnet-free crustal source under lowpressure ***,it is also proposed that tonalite-trondhjemite-granodiorite(TTG)rocks which occur dominantly in southern Rajasthan(BGC-I)are precursors and their partial melting led to the generation of the studied A-type granite *** studied samples also bear close geochemical similarity with A-type granites of similar age(1.7 Ga)near the sakhun-Ladera region of northern *** studied A-type granites are believed to be coeval to similar aged A-type granites of the Khetri and Alwar sub-basins of the North Delhi Fold Belt(NDFB).They are comparable in age and magmatic history to recorded A-type magmatism in North America and parts of the Chinese *** large geographical extents of synchronous A-type granites are proposed to be related to the Columbia supercontinent assembly(ca.1.7 Ga;postcollisional granites).Thus,based on the studied extensional granites,we surmise that BGC-II was part of the Columbia supercontinent.

Power quality assessment is an important performance measurement in smart *** companies are interested in power quality monitoring even in the low level distribution side such as smart *** this issue,in this study,we propose segregation of the power disturbance from regular values using one-class support vector machine(OCsVM).To precisely detect the power disturbances of a voltage wave,some practical wavelet filters are *** the unlimited types of waveform abnormalities,OCsVM is picked as a semisupervised machine learning algorithm which needs to be trained solely on a relatively large sample of normal *** model is able to automatically detect the existence of any types of disturbances in real time,even unknown types which are not available in the training *** the case of existence,the disturbances are further classified into different types such as sag,swell,transients and *** light weighted and fast,the proposed technique can be integrated into smart grid devices such as smart meter in order to perform a real-time disturbance *** continuous monitoring of power quality in smart meters will give helpful insight for quality power transmission and management.

Introduction:Hemorrhage control is the essence of trauma *** teaching is 1 on the floor(ie,external bleeding)and 4 more(thoracic cavity,abdomen,retroperitoneum,and long bones).In this case report,we present a unique case with concealed bleeding into the soft tissue compartment leading to *** case triggered to consider the soft tissue compartment as the sixth potential bleeding site in trauma patients in hemorrhagic *** presentation:We present the case with concealed bleeding into the soft tissue compartment posing a challenge in *** presentation,he had a pulse rate of 117 beats/min,a blood pressure of 90/60mmHg,and a Glasgow Coma scale(GCs)score of *** resuscitation,the patient's blood pressure dropped to 70/46 mmHg with a GCs of 7 of *** was then intubated and ***-enhanced computed tomography of the torso revealed a right scapular fracture with a large soft tissue hematoma along the right side of the neck and chest wall,extending up to the right lumbar ***:We suggest that the soft tissue compartment is the sixth potential site of internal bleeding in trauma patients,which should not be overlooked after having ruled out the other 5 sites.

Characterization of source Parameters and some Empirical Relations between Them for Kachchh Region, Gujarat, India: Implication of January 26, 2001 Bhuj Earthquake and Its Aftershock sequence

study of source parameters of small to moderate and large earthquakes is important to understand the differences and similarities between dynamic ruptures of different earthquakes and clarifying the scaling relations. In the present study, we have characterized source parameters and presented new and revised empirical relationships between various source parameters for Kachchh region of Gujarat, India to facilitate to draw first-order conclusions regarding the trends in the region. We have studied total 202 aftershocks of shallow-focus (hypo central depth less than 40 km) and moderate magnitude recorded over the Kachchh region during January 2001 to December 2012 by different seismological observatories of India Meteorological Department. We have adopted the spectral technique for source parameter estimation, where s-wave displacement spectra are considered and applied Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) to compute displacement spectra. We have followed the Brune’s source model for our estimation and the estimated values of source parameters show close approximation to the global values. While derived empirical relations between different source parameters, they demonstrate direct or inverse proportion to linear or power scale. Interrelation between seismic moment, rupture parameters, corner frequency and radiated seismic energy can be summarized as , , and ER μ M0 and ER μ Mw for our analysis. stress drop distribution over the Kachchh region is very scattered and due to its peculiar behavior, it is difficult to derive its empirical relation with other source parameters. sufficient accuracy on measuring source parameters like corner frequency stress drop, rupture dimensions, radiated seismic energy etc. helps to understand earthquake processes in the region.
