Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by cognitive impairments in the initial stage, which lead to severe cognitive dysfunction in the later stage. Action observation therapy (AOT) is a multisensory cognitive rehabilitation technique where the patient initially observes the actions and then tries to perform. The study aimed to examine the impact of AOT along with usual physiotherapy interventions to reduce depression, improve cognition and balance of a patient with AD. A 67 years old patient with AD was selected for this study because the patient has been suffering from depression, dementia, and physical dysfunction along with some other health conditions like diabetes and hypertension. Before starting intervention, a baseline assessment was done through the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) tool, the mini-Cog scale, and the Berg Balance scale (BBs). The patient received 12 sessions of AOT along with usual physiotherapy interventions thrice a week for four weeks, which included 45 minutes of each session. After four weeks of intervention, the patient demonstrated significant improvement in depression, cognition, and balance, whereas the BDI score declined from moderate 21/63 to mild 15/63 level of depression. The mini-Cog score improved from 2/5 to 4/5, and the BBs score increased from 18/56 to 37/56. It is concluded that AOT along with usual physiotherapy intervention helps to reduce depression, improve cognition and balance of people with AD.

m>Xylocarpus mekongensism> Pierre is the important tree species of the sundarbans. The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of salinity on the survival and growth of m>X. mekongensism> seedlings. The distributional patterns of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, and carbon in seedling parts were also examined in relation to salinity. Comparatively higher survival (95%) of seedlings was observed at non-saline to slightly saline conditions (0-5 PsU) and it was decreased to 78% at 35 PsU salinity. The relative growth rate (RGR) was higher at non-saline to slightly saline (0 to 5 PsU) conditions compared to higher salinity. Nutrients, sodium, and carbon concentration are found to vary significantly (p mong the parts of seedlings. Comparatively (p st concentration of nitrogen (20 to 34 mg/g), phosphorus (0.50 to 0.75 mg/g), potassium (9 to 27 mg/g) and sodium (7 to 36 mg/g) were found in leaves, while the highest concentration of carbon (42% to 45%) was detected in the stem. However, nitrogen, potassium, and carbon concentration in different parts of seedlings showed significant (p s with salinity levels. It can be concluded that m>X. mekongensism> has the capacity to tolerate higher saline condition but they grow well in non-saline to less saline conditions.

Tin dioxide is important gas sensor material and has wide applications in the detection of toxic gases and volatile organic ***,we synthesized a 3D laminated structural CuO/snO2 material possessing p-n *** morphology and structure were characterized by XRD,sEm,TEm and XPs techniques and the sensing properties were investigated for the detection of triethylamine(TEA).The results indicate that 3D laminated CuO/snO2 material,assembled by lamellae consisting of ordered nanoparticles,exhibit an enhanced sensing performance compared with snO2,and notably,CuO/snO2 with size less than 1μm has obvious high selectivity in the detection of 100 ppm ***,it has a high response and stability to 1 and 5 ppm TEA(s is 8 and 33),and that is higher than snO2 material,suggesting 3D laminated CuO/snO2 is an effective ca ndidate material served as sensor platform to detect low-concentration amines.

Investigation of the Potential Association between Clustered Regularly Interspersed short Palindromic Repeats (CRIsPR) and Antibiotic Resistance Pattern of Bacterial strains Isolated from medical Waste and Environmental Water

Enterobacteriaceae are important human pathogens that cause many food and waterborne illness. Rapid emergence of multi-drug resistant bacteria in Bangladesh has become a serious problem. Phage-host interaction is now considered as the major driving force for the conversion of non-pathogenic bacteria to pathogenic ones. Evolution of highly pathogenic and antibiotic resistant bacteria largely depends upon the horizontal gene transfer by means of plasmid, megaplasmid and bacteriophages. Conversely, bacteria may acquire a novel defence mechanism called CRIsPR (Clustered regularly interspersed short palindromic repeats) that can restrict horizontal transfer of plasmids and bacteriophages to limit the spread of antibiotic resistance genes among bacterial species. In this study, twenty bacterial strains were isolated from water of different medical waste and Buriganga river. Therefore, CRIsPR locus was investigated following various biochemical and molecular analysis of those bacterial isolates. Identification of the bacterial isolates was conducted by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) based assay of 16s rDNA extracted from those isolated strains. Results indicated that most strains were identified as Proteus mirabilis and Citrobacter freundii which mainly cause septicemia, and pneumonia in human. Thereafter, antibiogram of these strains was performed by using 11 different antibiotic discs where bacterial isolates from medical drainage system showed more resistant to antibiotics than the river water. In this study, CRIsPR locus was also investigated within the genome of the isolated bacterial stains but unexpectedly, we did not find any CRIsPR locus in their genome. In conclusion, we confirm that multi-drug resistant bacterial strains are devoid of CRIsPR locus suggesting a possible negative association between CRIsPR locus and antibiotic resistance. Objectives:To determine the association of Human leukocyte antigen B(HLA‑B)alleles with ankylosing spondylitis and the allelic association of HLAB27 with endoplasmic reticulum aminopeptidase 1(ERAP1)single-nucleotide polymorphism(sNP)rs30187 in patients with ankylosing spondylitis(As).methods:We studied 48 consecutively enrolled well-defined As patients and 48 healthy controls recruited from the outpatient clinic of the rheumatology department of Bangabandhu sheikh mujib medical University(BsmmU),Dhaka,*** genotype HLA-B alleles from peripheral blood DNA,we designed sequence-specific primers for polymerase chain ***'s sequencing method was used to detect the ERAP1 rs30187 *** HLA-B allele distributions were compared between cases and *** infer an allelic association between HLA-B27 and ERAP1,allele distributions from both loci were compared using ***-squared test or Fisher's exact test was used to quantify the association,and their strength of association was tested by odds ratio(OR)with 95%confidence interval(CI).Results:The frequency of HLA-B27 was found to be higher in As patients(60.4%)than in healthy controls(8.3%).HLA-B27 allele had an OR of 16.8(95%CI=5.2–54.4)for the development of ***,4%of As patients had both HLA-B27 and *** significant association was found between ERAP1 rs30187 sNP and HLA-B27 in patients with As(OR=1.7,95%CI=0.5–5.6).Conclusions:HLA-B27 was significantly associated with As in patients in ***,no association between ERAP1 rs30187 sNP and HLA-B27 was observed.

通过简单研磨实现固相反应的方法制备了纳米氧化锌材料,并利用石墨烯掺杂对氧化锌进行改性,研究了氧化锌材料的气敏性能。利用X射线衍射仪(XRD)、扫描电镜(sEm)、红外光谱仪(IR)对合成的样品进行了结构和形貌表征,考察了原料比例和石墨烯掺杂量对氧化锌形貌和气敏性能的影响。结果表明:合成的氧化锌均为纳米颗粒,随着柠檬酸量增加,得到许多有气孔的氧化锌;石墨烯掺杂后,均得到纳米颗粒的氧化锌;气体检测表明,石墨烯掺杂后的氧化锌,其最佳工作温度由400℃降为280℃,对三乙胺表现出较高的选择性;掺杂3%石墨烯的氧化锌对浓度为0.1 mmol/L三乙胺的响应值(s=Ra/Rg)达到18,是掺杂前的4倍。石墨烯掺杂纳米ZnO可作为检测三乙胺气体的新型传感材料。

Background:systemic lupus erythematosus(sLE)is a systemic autoimmune disease characterized by the involvement of multiple organs and autoantibody *** study aimed to determine the association of human leukocyte antigen(HLA)-DQ and-DR alleles with sLE at a tertiary hospital in ***:This case-control study was conducted in the Department of Rheumatology,Bangabandhu sheikh mujib medical University(BsmmU),Dhaka,*** patients who fulfilled the 1997 revised American College of Rheumatology classification criteria for sLE were considered cases(n=41).The controls(n=32)were selected from the hospital staff of BsmmU,including doctors and nurses who did not suffer from any known rheumatic diseases,and there was no such disease in their first-degree *** chain reaction using a sequence-specific primer(PCRssP)in a low-resolution typing method was carried out on blood samples collected for HLA-DQ and-DR allele ***:The cases and controls had comparable mean ages(31 vs.32 years),and most cases were female(95.1%vs.34.4%).The most frequent clinical manifestations were mucocutaneous(85.4%),followed by musculoskeletal(70.7%)and constitutional symptoms(58.5%).The cases had a significantly higher frequency of HLA-DR2 allele compared with healthy controls(70.7%vs.43.8%;odds ratio:3.1;95%confidence interval:1.2-8.2).In addition,HLADQ6 allele was found to have a significant association with mucocutaneous manifestations of the cases(88.9%,P=0.03).Conclusions:Bangladeshi adults having HLA-DR2 may be more susceptible to ***-DQ6 allele might be associated with mucocutaneous manifestations of sLE.
