Ionization rate coefficients and saturation drift velocities for electrons and holes are the vital material parameters in determining the performance of an IMPATT diode.We have performed a sensitivity analysis of the millimeter wave characteristics of 4H-siC and 6H-siC IMPATT diodes with reference to the above mentioned material data and an operating frequency of 220 GHz.The effect of a small variation in the ionization rate and drift velocity on the device characteristics like break down voltage,efficiency,noise measure and power output has been presented here.

We have presented a comparative account of the high frequency prospective as well as noise behaviors of wide-bandgap 4H-siC and 6H-siC based on different structures of IMPATT diodes at sub-millimeter-wave frequencies up to 2.18 THz. The computer simulation study establishes the feasibility of the siC based IMPATT diode as a high power density terahertz source. The most significant feature lies in the noise behavior of the siC IMPATT diodes. It is noticed that the 6H-siC DDR diode shows the least noise measure of 26.1 dB as compared to that of other structures. Further, it is noticed that the noise measure of the siC IMPATT diode is less at a higher operating frequency compared to that at a lower operating frequency.

We examine the structural properties and half-life decay of Ra isotopes within the axially deformed Relativistic Mean-Field（RMF）theory with NL3 force parameters.We work out the binding energy（BE）,RMs radii,two-neutron separation energies（s（2n））,and some other observables.The results are in good agreement with the finite-range droplet model（FRDM）and experimental results.Considering the possibility of neutron magic number,theα-decay and cluster decay half-lives of Ra isotopes are calculated systematically using the Q-values obtained from the RMF formalism.These decay half-life calculations are carried out by taking three different empirical formulae.The calculated decay half-lives are found to be highly sensitive to the choice of Q-values.Possible shell or sub-shell closures are found at daughter nuclei with N=128 and N=126 when alpha and 8Be,12C,18O respectively are emitted from Ra isotopes.Though the cluster radioactivity is affected by the shell closure of parent and daughter,a long half-life indicates the stability of the parent,and a small parent half-life indicates that the shell stability of the daughter against decay.

The Urban Vehicular Ad Hoc Network (UVANET) provides non-safety applications like media sharing, internet service, file transfer, gaming, and so on. Routing plays an important role in providing better services to the users in UVANET. In this paper, a novel routing protocol is proposed for UVANET to support non-safety applications. We consider a non-safety application wherein the drivers and passengers of different parking lots can play multi-player games with each other. To play the games smoothly, the game data should reach the destination in a minimum time. simulation results show that when the vehicle density in the city area is high, the proposed protocol meets the end-to-end delay tolerance of 100 ms. Finally, an experiment is performed to validate the proposed routing protocol by running a simple puzzle game in a UVANET prototype designed in an indoor laboratory environment and in an outdoor environment.

Introduction:Chronic suppurative otitis media (CsOM) is a common problem in worldwide and untreated CsOM leads to fatal complications like facial nerve paralysis,lateral sinus thrombosis,labyrinthitis,meningitis and brain abscess in developing country like India.Objective:To isolate causative bacteria and antibiotic sensitivity pattern for CsOM and to know the prevalence of extended spectrum beta lactamases (EsBL) and Metallobetalactamases (MBL) in CsOM patients.Methods:A total of 500 ear swabs of clinical suspected CsOM patients were cultured on specific cultured medium and identified the bacteria with conventional methods.Then all the identified bacteria were subjected with specific antibiotics by the kirby-Bauer's method to know the resistance pattern of antibiotics.EsBL and MBL strains were detected by double disc diffusion test.Results:A total of 384 bacteria were isolated from 500 CsOM patients,among them 86 P.aeruginosa (22.40%),112 staphylococcus aureus (29.17%),53 A.baumannii (13.80%),32 E.aerogenes (18%),26 C.freundii (6.77%),24 k.oxytoca (6.25%),23 P.vulgaris (5.99%),18 k.pneumoniae (4.69%) and 10 P.mirabilis (2.60%) identified with conventional methods.From antibiotic disc diffusion methods 74.22% EsBL strains and 9.90%MBL strains were documented.Multidrug resistant strains of P.aeruginosa (86/384,22.40%) were more prevalent than those of s.aureus (112/384,29.17%) and other bacteria in ear discharges.Imipenem and vancomicin could control to gram negative bacteria and gram positive bacteria respectively.Conclusion:Continuous and periodic evaluation of microbiological profile and antimicrobial sensitivity pattern of bacterial is essential for optimum management of CsOM patients.

Background:There are several physiological changes found in pregnant women and amongst them,otological changes are quite important.The otological manifestations in pregnant women are mainly due to changes of sex hormones levels,which return to normal in the postpartum period.Objective:To report otological manifestations among pregnant women.Materials and methods:Eighty-four pregnant women participated in this prospective study.A questionnaire was administered in all participants for assessing otological manifestations.The pregnant women were in the age range of 22e35 years.They underwent thorough otological and obstetric examinations.Pure tone audiometry(PTA)was done for assessment of hearing loss.Results:The mean age of the pregnant women in this study was 26.23 years.The most common otological manifestation was sensation of ear blockage.Eustachian tube dysfunction was common in the last trimester of pregnancy.Other manifestations included vertigo and tinnitus.Conclusion:The alteration of hormonal milieu in pregnant women can lead to several otological manifestations,including eustachian tube dysfunction,hearing impairment,otitis externa,Bell’s palsy,vertigo and tinnitus.Despite these otological manifestations found in pregnant women,yet they are often neglected in clinical practice.

采用溶液技术制备出膨胀石墨增强环氧树脂复合材料。对石墨进行化学改性以提高与环氧树脂的相容性。采用XRD、FE-sEM和HR-TEM对环氧树脂/膨胀石墨复合材料进行表征。与环氧树脂相比,添加质量分数9%膨胀石墨后,该复合材料的热分解温度从340℃升高至480℃,抗张应力提高30%,导电率由10-15增加至10-5数量级。热学、力学和电学性能的显著提高,主要归因于膨胀石墨纳米片在环氧树脂基体中的良好分散性,从而可用于广泛的应用领域。

Central venous catheter insertion in the internal jugular vein(IJV)is frequently performed in acute care settings,facilitated by its easy availability and increased use of ultrasound in healthcare settings.Despite the increased safety profile and insertion convenience,it has complications.Herein,we aim to inform readers about the existing literature on the plethora of complications with potentially disastrous consequences for patients undergoing IJV cannulation.

Background:Lymphatic filariasis is targeted for elimination in India through mass drug administration(MDA)with diethylcarbamazine(DEC)combined with albendazole(ABZ).For the strategy to be effective,>65%of those living in endemic areas must be covered by and compliant to MDA.Post the MDA 2011 campaign in the endemic district of Odisha,we conducted a survey to assess:(i)the filariasis knowledge in the community,(ii)the coverage and compliance of MDA from the community perspective,and(iii)factors affecting compliance,as well as the operational issues involved in carrying out MDA activities from the drug distributor’s perspective.Methods:A sample of 691 participants-both male and female,aged two years or above-were selected through multistage stratified sampling and interviewed using a semi-structured questionnaire.Additionally,drug distributors and the medical officers in charge of the MDA were also interviewed to understand some of the operational issues encountered during MDA.Results:Ninety-nine percent of the study participants received DEC and ABZ tablets during MDA,of which only just above a quarter actually consumed the drugs.The cause of non-compliance was mostly due to fear of side effects,lack of awareness of the benefits of MDA,and non-attendance of health staff in the villages.Lack of adequate training of drug distributors and poor health communication activities before the MDA campaign commenced and the absence of follow-up by health workers following MDA were a few of the operational difficulties encountered during the MDA campaign.Conclusion:Currently MDA is restricted to the distribution of drugs only and the key issues of implementation in compliance,health education,managing side effects,and logistics are not given enough attention.It is therefore essential to address the issues linked to low compliance to make the program more efficient and achieve the goal of filariasis elimination.
