This paper focuses on the seismic performance of mountainous railway bridges having different pier type i.e. rectangular hollow piers and solid piers. The piers used were of same materials and inertial properties. For this, 3-D FEM models of these bridges were created by ANsYs 15.0. For seismic assessment, Response spectrum and Dynamic Time-History Analysis methods were adopted. Different types of earthquake waves used were Elcentro, Wenchuan and Nepal earthquakes, all normalized to 0.3 g Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA). The study concluded that even though the hollow pier bridges are susceptible to large displacements, its dealing with internal forces is remarkable compared to solid pier bridges.

The stability study of the ongoing and recurring Amalpata landslide in Baglung in Nepal’s Gandaki Province is presented in this research. The impacted slope is around 200 meters high, with two terraces that have different slope inclinations. The lower bench, located above the basement, consistently fails and sets others up for failure. The fluctuating water level of the slope, which travels down the slope masses, exacerbates the slide problem. The majority of these rocks are Amalpata landslide area experiences several structural disruptions. The area’s stability must be evaluated in order to prevent and control more harm from occurring to the nearby agricultural land and people living along the slope. The slopes’ failures increase the damages of house existing in nearby area and the erosion of the slope. Two modeling techniques the finite element approach and the limit equilibrium method were used to simulate the slope. The findings show that, in every case, the terrace above the basement is where the majority of the stress is concentrated, with a safety factor of near unity. Using probabilistic slope stability analysis, the failure probability was predicted to be between 98.90% and 100%.

BACKGROUND Coronary calcium poses a challenge for the interventional cardiologist often leading to stent under-expansion and subsequent ischemic events.Aggressive balloon post-dilatation though helpful is usually inadequate.Multiple plaque ablation techniques are in vogue,but they are technically demanding and are not without complications.shockwave intravascular lithotripsy(s-IVL)has emerged as a user-friendly and effective mechanism for calcium management with a high safety margin.A series of trials(DIsRUPT CAD I-IV)have demonstrated both short-term and long-term safety and efficacy of the technique.As experience with the technique grows more and more,therapy areas like stent restenosis are being covered by the s-IVL.CAsE sUMMARY We report a series of 2 cases successfully managed with s-IVL therapy at our center.The first case is of a 57-year-old smoker who presented with acute coronary syndrome.His left anterior descending coronary artery revealed calcified 90%stenosis on angiogram and a combination of superficial-deep calcium on intracoronary imaging.The calcium was treated with 20 pulses of s-IVL to create discontinuity and a sirolimus eluting drug-eluting stent was successfully implanted.The second case is that of an elderly lady who presented with stable angina and demonstrated diffuse calcified lesions in the left anterior descending artery on angiogram.she also demonstrated a mixture of superficial and deep seated calcium zones on imaging.s-IVL therapy was applied to generate fractures in calcium,and two overlapping drug-eluting stents were implanted successfully without any complications.CONCLUsION s-IVL is an emerging,efficient,user-friendly and safe therapy for managing intracoronary calcium in routine interventional practice.

选用16头泌乳中期荷斯坦奶牛（其中4头带有瘤胃瘘管）研究苜蓿青贮料和燕麦青贮料刈割长度（短为6mm,长为19 mm）的不同效果。试验采用4×4拉丁方设计,处理采用2×2排列。试验期为21 d,其中包括14 d适应期和7 d采样期。奶牛全混合日粮组成为（DM基础）：42%大麦为基础的能量补充料,10%蛋白质补充料,24%长或短的苜蓿青贮料和24%长或短的燕麦青贮料。瘤胃pH持续测定,瘤胃液相流通速率用带有瘤胃瘘管的牛进行测定。采食行为用录像方式进行测定,采食日粮类型通过连续称量8头牛食糟中日粮来确定。

This paper aims to propose a quality profile of springs of the study area for irrigation. In the present study, fifty-four springs in Almora have been identified from rural as well as urban localities for calculation of irriga- tional water quality parameters during pre-monsoon, monsoon and post-monsoon, 2008. spring water samples are collected and analyzed for pH, electrical conductivity (EC), total dissolved solids (TDs), Na+ , K+ , Ca2+ , Mg2+ , HCO3- , Cl- , and sO42- . Different irrigation quality parameters viz. salinity, sodium adsorption ratio (sAR), soluble sodium percentage (ssP), residual sodium carbonate (RsC), magnesium hazards (MH) and permeability index (PI) are calculated for the evaluation of spring water quality for irrigation purposes. All springs are found excellent to good based on irrigation quality parameters. Based on Wilcox diagram, about 98% of the water resources are grouped as C1s1 (low-low) and C2s1 (medium-low) classes, so springs are suitable for normal irrigation.

Predicting upper stem diameters and individual tree volumes is important for product quantification and can provide important information for the sustainable management of forests of important commercial tree species(shorea robusta)in Nepal.The aim of this study was to develop a taper equation for s.robusta.Fifty-four trees were selected and felled in the southern low land of Nepal.A mixed effect modelling approach was used to evaluate 17 different taper functions.‘Leave-one-out cross-validation'was used to validate the fitted taper functions.The variable exponent taper function best fitted our data and described more than 99%of the variation in upper stem diameters.Results also showed significant effects of stand density on tree taper.Individual tree volume prediction using the local volume model developed in this study was more accurate compared to the volume predicted through the taper function and existing volume model.The taper function developed in this study provides the benefit of predicting upper stem diameter and can be used for predicting volume to any merchantable height of individual trees.It will have implications in estimates of volume,biomass,and carbon and thus may be a potential supporting tool in carbon trade and revenue generation.

To overcome the shortcomings of 1 D and 2 D Otsu’s thresholding techniques, the 3 D Otsu method has been developed.Among all Otsu’s methods, 3 D Otsu technique provides the best threshold values for the multi-level thresholding processes. In this paper, to improve the quality of segmented images, a simple and effective multilevel thresholding method is introduced. The proposed approach focuses on preserving edge detail by computing the 3 D Otsu along the fusion phenomena. The advantages of the presented scheme include higher quality outcomes, better preservation of tiny details and boundaries and reduced execution time with rising threshold levels. The fusion approach depends upon the differences between pixel intensity values within a small local space of an image;it aims to improve localized information after the thresholding process. The fusion of images based on local contrast can improve image segmentation performance by minimizing the loss of local contrast, loss of details and gray-level distributions. Results show that the proposed method yields more promising segmentation results when compared to conventional1 D Otsu, 2 D Otsu and 3 D Otsu methods, as evident from the objective and subjective evaluations.
