The thermal imaging technique relies on the usage of infrared signal to detect the temperature *** temperature as a flow tracer,thermography is used to investigate the scalar transport in the shallow-water wake generated by an emergent circular *** imaging is demonstrated to be a good quantitative flow visualization technique for studying turbulent mixing phenomena in shallow waters.A key advantage of the thermal imaging method over other scalar measurement techniques,such as the Laser induced Fluorescence（LiF）and Planar Concentration Analysis（PCA）methods,is that it involves a very simple experimental *** dispersion characteristics captured with this technique are found to be similar to past studies with traditional measurement techniques.

The engineering community has devoted much effort to understanding the response of soil-structure systems to seismic ground motions, but little attention to the effects of an outcropping fault offset. The 1999 earthquakes of Turkey and Taiwan, offering a variety of case histories of structural damage due to faulting, have （re）fueled the interest on the subject. This paper presents a methodology for design of bridges against tectonic deformation. The problem is decoupled in two analysis steps： the first （at the local level） deals with the response of a single pier and its foundation to fault rupture propagating through the soil, and the superstructure is modeled in a simplified manner; and the second （at the global level） investigates detailed models of the superstructure subjected to the support （differential） displacements of step 1. A parametric study investigates typical models of viaduct and overpass bridges, founded on piles or caissons. Fixed-head piled foundations are shown to be rather vulnerable to faulting-dnduced deformation. End-bearing piles in particular are unable to survive bedrock offsets exceeding 10 cm. Floating piles perform better, and if combined with hinged pile-to-cap connections, they could survive much larger offsets. soil resilience is beneficial in reducing pile distress. Caisson foundations are almost invariably successful. statically-indeterminate superstructures are quite vulnerable, while statically-determinate are insensitive （allowing differential displacements and rotations without suffering any distress）. For large-span cantilever-construction bridges, where a statically determinate system is hardly an option, inserting resilient seismic isolation bearings is advantageous as long as ample seating can prevent the deck from falling off the supports. An actual application of the developed method is presented for a major bridge, demonstrating the feasibility of design against tectonic deformation.

introduction: Preeclampsia can lead to several maternal and perinatal adverse effects. There are few published data on the association between transmembrane serine protease 6 (TMPRss6) gene polymorphism and preeclampsia. Objective: To assess the association between TMPRss6 gene polymorphism rs855791sNP in women with preeclampsia compared with healthy pregnant women. Method: A case-control study (60 women in each arm) was conducted at saad Abuaela Maternity Hospital in Khartoum, sudan. sociodemographic and clinical data were gathered through a questionnaire. The participant was genotype for TMPRss6 gene rs855791sNP using Polymerase Chain Reaction and Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (PCR-RFLP). The results were confirmed by DNA sequencing. Result: There was no significant difference in the median of age, parity, and body mass index. The distribution of the genotypes and alleles of TMPRss6 rs855791 was consistent with the HWE. The overall TMPRss6 rs855791 polymorphism was not significantly associated with preeclampsia. However, the proportion of heterozygotes (TC) was considerably higher in the women with preeclampsia (46.7%) than in the control group (23.3%) (p = 0.001;OR = 2.71;95% Ci = 1.21 - 6.07). The proportion of homozygotes (TT) and T alleles was not significantly different between women with preeclampsia and the control group. Conclusion: The overall TMPRss6 rs855791 polymorphism was not significantly associated with preeclampsia and healthy control.

The Taguchi method was used to obtain the optimum electrodeposition parameters for the synthesis of the Cuinse2 thin film for solar cells. The parameters consist of annealing temperature, current density, CuCl2 concentration, FeCl3 concentration, H2seO3 concentration, TEA amount, pH value, and deposition time. The experiments were carried out according to an L18（2^13^7） table An X-ray diffractometer （XRD） and a scanning electron microscope （sEM） were respectively used to analyze the phases and observe the microstructure and the grain size of the Cuinse2 film before and after annealing treatment. The results showed that the Cuinse2 phase was deposited with a preferred plane （112） parallel to the substrate surface. The optimum parameters are as follows： current density, 7 mA/cm^2; CuCl2 concentration, 10 mM; FeCl3 concentration, 50 mM; H2seO3 concentration, 15 mM; TEA amount, 0 mL; pH value, 1.65; deposition time, 10 min; and annealing temperature, 500℃.

in regulated rivers,shaping seasonal flows to recover species at risk depends on understanding when to expect conflicts with competing water users and when their interests are ***-objective optimization can be used to reveal such conflicts and *** species are involved,multi-objective optimization is challenged by the need to simulate complex species responses to flow ***,we addressed that challenge by developing a simplified salmon model(Quantus)that defines cohorts of salmon by the river section and time in which they were *** in these space-time cohorts are tracked from the time redds(nests)are constructed until the cohort exits the tributary en route to the *** this study,we modeled seasonal patterns in energy value and developed a Pareto-optimal frontier of seasonal flow patterns to maximize in-river salmon survival and hydropower *** flow regimes were characterized by two pulse flows varying in magnitude,timing,and duration and constrained by a total annual flow near the historical *** analysis revealed times when economic and salmon objectives were aligned and times when they *** flows that favored higher energy value were timed to meet demand during extreme *** salmon and hydropower objectives produced optimal flow regimes with pulse flows in early summer,but only solutions favoring hydropower value included high flows in *** favoring higher age-0 salmon survival provided an extended pulse flow in late winter/early spring,which suggests that access to productive floodplain habitat allowed faster growth and earlier out-migration and reduced the need for higher temperature-moderating flows later in *** flows were also higher among solutions favoring salmon over *** tools used to produce these results can help to design simplified seasonal flow regimes by revealing compromise solutions that satisfy both fish and energy producers
