This study investigates the influence of waste characteristics,especially zeta potential,on the properties of cement pastes and *** focus is to evaluate the impact of the zeta potential of cement particles and waste materials on the sedimentation speed,rheology,and hardening time of stabilized cement *** Cement II F 40,retarder additive,silica,and fly ash were used in the *** pastes were prepared,and during the stabilization period,their rheological properties and pH were *** zeta potential and sedimentation speed of the cement and waste particles were measured at the pH that the pastes presented during the entire stabilization *** the stabilization period,the pastes were subjected to the hardening time *** zeta potential analyses revealed diverse values for the different powder types,with the cement particles exhibiting a zeta potential of−3.0 mV,the silica particles exhibiting−10.5 mV,and the fly ash particles exhibiting−20.3 *** influence of the high zeta potential modulus was observed on the sedimentation speed,with the solution containing fly ash exhibiting a speed of 40.01μm/s,whereas the solution containing only cement exhibited a speed of 99.38μm/*** the pastes,the results indicate that the presence of fly ash particles with a significantly negative zeta potential led to a 16%reduction in hardening time compared to particles with a lower modulus of zeta *** tests showed that the inclusion of fly ash particles prevented the formation of *** the zeta potential influenced agglomerate formation and hardening time,it was found to have no effect on yield stress or viscosity.

Background:None of the published studies involving cancer cachexia experimental models have included a measure of the severity of the syndrome like the scoring system previously developed for human *** aim of the present investigation was to define and validate a cachexia score usable in both rat and mouse tumor ***:In order to achieve this goal,we included in the study one rat model(Yoshida AH‐130ascites hepatoma)and two mouse models(Lewis lung carcinoma and Colon26 carcinoma).The Animal cachexia score(ACAsCO)includes five components:(a)body and muscle weight loss,(b)inflammation and metabolic disturbances,(c)physical performance,(d)anorexia,and(e)quality of life measured using discomfort symptoms and behavioral ***:Using the ACAsCO values,three cut‐off values were estimated by applying hierarchical cluster *** groups were originally described,one exactly below the observed mean,a second exactly over the mean,and two other groups adjusted to every cue(inferior and superior).The three cut‐off values were estimated through maximization of the classification *** was accomplished by using a similarity matrix based on the metric properties of the variables and assuming multinormal *** results show that the four groups were:no cachexia,mild cachexia,moderate cachexia and advanced ***:The results obtained allow us to conclude that the score could be very useful as an endpoint in pre‐clinical studies involving therapeutic strategies for cancer *** potential usefulness of ACAsCO relates to the primary endpoint in pre‐clinical cancer cachexia drug evaluations.

In this study,we implemented the type Ⅱ seesaw mechanism into the framework of the U(l)B-L gauge *** achieve this,we added a scalar triplet,A,to the canonical particle content of the U(l)B-Lgauge *** imposing that the U(l)B-L gauge symmetry be spontaneously broken at TeV scale,we show that the type Ⅱ seesaw mechanism is realized at an intermediate energy scale,more precisely,at approximately 109 *** prevent heavy right-handed neutrinos from disturbing the mechanism,we evoke a Z2 discrete ***,as a result,we have standard neutrinos with mass around eV scale and right-handed neutrinos with mass in TeV scale,with the lightest one fulfilling the condition of dark *** developed all of these in this *** addition,we show that the neutral component of Δ may perform unproblematic non-minimal inflation with loss of unitarity.

Presbyopia corrections traditionally have been approached with attempts to exchange power,either at the cornea or the lens planes,inducing multifocality,or altering asphericity to impact the optical *** that affect the visual axis,such as spectacle and contact lens correction,refractive surgeries,corneal onlays and inlays,and intraocular lenses are typically unable to restore true accommodation to the presbyopic *** aim is instead to enhance‘pseudoaccommodation’by facilitating an extended depth-of-focus for which vision is *** is a true lack of technology that approaches presbyopia from a treatment based or therapy based solution,rather than a‘vision correction’solution that compromises other components of the optical *** surgical procedures seek to restore true accommodation combined with pseudoaccommodation and have several advantages over other more invasive options to treat *** the theoretical justification of scleral surgical procedures remains controversial,there has nevertheless been increasing interest and evidence to support scleral surgical and therapeutic approaches to treat *** progress in scleral surgery techniques and understanding of the mechanisms of action have been achieved since the 1970s,and this remains an active area of *** this article,we discuss the historic scleral surgical procedures,the two scleral procedures currently available,as well as an outlook of the future for the scleral surgical space for treating presbyopia.

Permeable coastal sediments act as a reactive node in the littoral zone,transforming nutrients via a wide range of biogeochemical *** rates are controlled by abiotic factors,e.g.,salinity,temperature or solute ***,a series of incubation experiments,using flow-through reactors,were conducted to simulate the biogeochemical cycling of nitrate (NO_(3)^(-)) and phosphorus(P)in permeable sediments under different NO_(3)^(-) availability conditions(factor I)along a salinity gradient(admixture of river and seawater,factor Ⅱ).In an oligotrophic scenario,i.e.,unamended NO_(3)^(-) concentrations in both river and seawater,sediments acted as a permanent net source of NO_(3)^(-) to the water *** peak production rate occurred at an intermediate salinity(20).IncreasingNO_(3)^(-) availability in river water significantly enhanced netNO_(3)^(-) removal rates within the salinity range of 0 to 30,likely via the denitrification pathway based on the sediment microbiota *** this scenario,the most active removal was obtained at salinity of *** both river and seawater were spiked with NO_(3)^(-),the highest removal rate switched to the highest salinity(36).It suggests the salinity preference of the NO_(3)^(-) removal pathway by local denitrifiers(e.g.,Bacillus and Paracoccus)and that NO_(3)^(-) removal in coastal sediments can be significantly constrained by the dilution related NO_(3)^(-) *** with the obtained variation for NO_(3)^(-) reactions,permeable sediments acted as a sink of soluble reactive P in all treatments,regardless of salinity and NO_(3)^(-) input concentrations,indicating a possibility of P-deficiency for coastal water from the intensive cycling in permeable ***,the net production of dissolved organic carbon(DOC)in all treatments was positively correlated with the measured NO_(3)^(-) reaction rates,indicating that the DOC supply may not be the key factor for NO_(3)^(-) removal rates due

Background: Autism spectrum disorder is a condition that affects all races, ethnic and socioeconomic groups. With a high incidenee ratio of one in every 68, it has become one of the most discussed psychiatric disorders. For this reason, the need for investigating novel treatments has been emerging. Qigong, a traditional Chinese mind-body technique, has already proven to be able to reduce symptoms of several physical and psychological illnesses. Objective: The purpose of this systematic review is to examine and categorize the current scientific evidence regarding the efficacy of Qigong on children suffering from autism spectrum disorders. search strategy: A systematic literature search of the electronic scientific databases PubMed, Clinical ***, BioMed Central, PubMed Central and Google scholar was performed to identify studies of Qigong in the treatment of children with autism spectrum disorder. Inclusion criteria: This review included randomized controlled trials, replication studies, retrospective studies and observational follow-up studies of Qigong on children with autism spectrum disorder. Case reports and case series were excluded. Data extraction and analysis: Two researchers independently evaluated the methodological quality of all included studies. Any discrepancies were solved by discussion until consensus was achieved. Results: Our literature search identified 157 publications, and 10 additional publications from hand search of references. After duplicate removal, 103 records remained. After the title/abstract screening, 19 publications were obtained for detailed evaluation. After detailed evaluation, 10 studies were included. seven studies were conducted with small children with 2-6 years old employing Qigong massage, and three studies were con ducted with older children aged 7-17 years old applying both Qigong massage (one study) and Neigong (two studies). Rainfall simulators have been used for many years contributing to the understanding of soil and water conservation ***,rainfall simulators’design and operation might be rather demanding for achieving specific rainfall intensity distributions and drop characteristics and are still open for *** study explores the potential of combining spray nozzle simulators with meshes to change rainfall characteristics,namely drop properties(drop diameters and fall speeds).A rainfall simulator laboratory set-up was prepared that enabled the incorporation of different wire meshes beneath the spray *** tests conducted in this exploratory work included different types of spray nozzles,mesh materials(plastic and steel),square apertures and wire thicknesses,and positions of the meshes in relation to the *** intensity and drop size distribution and fall speed were *** showed that the meshes combined with nozzles increased the mean rainfall intensity on the 1 m^(2) control plot below the nozzle and altered the rain drops’properties,by increasing the mass-weighted mean drop diameter,for example.

AIM: To investigate the safety and efficacy of intravitreal dexamethasone implants(Ozurdex?/DEX) in patients with diabetic macular edema(DME) either na?ve or nonna?ve to anti-VEGF therapies who switched to DEX implant independent of response to anti-vascular endothelial growth factors(anti-VEGFs).METHODs: This was an audit retrospective review of medical records of patients with DME who switched to the DEX intravitreal implant. Patients were divided into 2 groups: patients na?ve to antiangiogenic therapy and patients who were previously treated with anti-VEGFs. Data regarding demographics, changes in mean best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA), central macular thickness(CMT), and intraocular pressure(IOP) was collected over 6 mo. The demographic data mean changes in BCVA, CMT, and IOP were compared. six-month follow-up data of 47 patients(57 eyes), who either switched to DEX implant irrespective of response to previous treatments or were treatment na?ve before receiving DEX implant, was ***: Improvement in mean BCVA was observed from 1-4 mo after injection with a decreased effect at month 6 as expected, with better outcomes in na?ve compared to non-na?ve patients. A statistically relevant decrease in mean CMT was observed during the follow-up period. An increase in mean IOP was observed in the first 2 mo after DEX therapy. The mean number of injections of the overall population during the 6 mo was 1.3. A subgroup analysis showed no relevant difference between phakic versus pseudophakic patients relative to measured outcomes. There was no cataract progression during the follow-up period and no adverse events ***: This real-life setting study shows that intravitreal DEX implant is effective and safe. The timings of greater therapeutic impact are concordant with previous studies and suggest that earlier treatment with corticosteroids may have an additional benefit in na?ve patients.
