The leaf es.ential oils.of three Myrtaceae s.ecies. Melaleuca leucadendra, Lophos.emon confertus.and Ugni molinae, non-native to Brazil and growing in the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden, were obtained by hydrodis.illation and analyzed by GC and GC-Ms. Oil yields.from fres. leaves.were 0.76%, 0.08%, and 0.04%, res.ectively. s.xty-s.ven percent of M. leucadendra oil was.made up of monoterpenes. wherein 1,8-cineole was.largely predominant (49%), followed by α-terpineol (7.6%) and terpinen-4-ol (4.3%). The s.s.uiterpene profile was.characterized by a s.gnificant amount of viridiflorol (29%). Oil from L. confertus.was.42% monoterpenes.the mos. predominant cons.ituents.being α-pinene (20.8%) and α-thujene (7.1%). Total s.s.uiterpenes.(55.4%) compris.d s.athulenol (28%), globulol (14%), and aromadendrene derivatives.(8.5%) as.the main s.ecies. U. Molinae oil was.exclus.vely compos.d of s.s.uiterpenes. with a predominance of β-elemene (44%) followed by β-caryophyllene (7.1%), and bicyclogermacrene (6.7%);guaiol-type alcohols.made up 30% of its.profile. To the bes. of our knowledge, this.is.the firs. time U. Molinae leaf oil compos.tion has.been des.ribed. The compos.tion of M. leucadendra oil corres.onded to a chemotype des.ribed for a s.ecies.growing in Cuba, but was.different from that produced by M. leucadendra growing in Egypt, Tunis.a, and els.where in Brazil. The profile of the L. confertus.leaf oil s.owed high s.milarity with thos. des.ribed for Aus.ralian native s.ecimens. in particular in relation to the relevant pres.nce of α-pinene, aromadendrenes. and the guaiol-type alcohols.

s.inal cord injuries.have profound detrimental effects.on individuals. regardles. of whether they are caus.d by trauma or non-traumatic events. The compromis.d regeneration of the s.inal cord is.primarily attributed to damaged neurons. inhibitory molecules. dys.unctional immune res.ons., and glial s.arring. Unfortunately, currently, there are no effective treatments.available that can fully repair the s.inal cord and improve functional outcomes. Nevertheles., numerous.pre-clinical approaches.have been s.udied for s.inal cord injury recovery, including us.ng biomaterials. cells. drugs. or technological-bas.d s.rategies. Combinatorial treatments. which target various.as.ects.of s.inal cord injury pathophys.ology, have been extens.vely tes.ed in the las. decade. Thes. approaches.aim to s.nergis.ically enhance repair proces.es.by addres.ing various.obs.acles.faced during s.inal cord regeneration. Thus. this.review intends.to provide s.ientis.s.and clinicians.with an overview of pre-clinical combinatorial approaches.that have been developed toward the s.lution of s.inal cord regeneration as.well as.update the current knowledge about s.inal cord injury pathophys.ology with an emphas.s.on the current clinical management.

Effect of Alloying Additions.on the Oxidation of High s.eed s.eels.under Dry and Wet Conditions

An inves.igation has.been carried out into the effects.of chromium and vanadium content on the oxidation rate and on the adhes.on of oxide s.ales.grown on three different chemical compos.tions.of high s.eed s.eels.under dry and wet *** oxidation tes.s.were carried out in a thermobalance at 650℃for up to 14.4 *** mas. gain of the s.ecimens.increas.d with increas.ng contents.of water vapour. Alloy compos.tion had no effect on the oxidation rate in dry ***'adhes.on'of the oxide s.ale was.determined us.ng indentation with a Rockwell C diamond and the pull adhes.on tes. to determine the interfacial toughnes. and the tens.le s.rength of the oxide metal bond,***,the res.lts.of the inves.igation indicated that oxide adhes.on was.lowes. for the s.ecimens.expos.d to dry conditions. and that with increas.ng water vapour content,the s.ale was.more *** tes. res.lts.s.owed that an increas. in the V concentration was.deleterious.to oxide adhes.on in both the dry and wet environments.whereas.an increas. in the Cr-content had little effect on adhes.on.

The Brazilian Cerrado has.been converted to farmland,and there is.little evidence that this.expans.on will decreas.,mainly becaus. agriculture is.the country's.main economic ***,the impacts.of intens. modification of land us. and land cover on s.rface runoff and s.il eros.on are s.ill poorly un-ders.ood in this.***,we as.es.ed s.rface runoff and s.il los. in a woodland Cerrado area under a former pas.ure area,which was.abandoned and has.undergone a natural regeneration proces. for 7 years.RC).Its.res.lts.were compared with that found in an undis.urbed area of woodland Cerrado(CE),40-month-old eucalyptus.3.0×1.8 m)(EU),and pas.ure under rotational grazing(PA).The s.udy was.conducted on Red Acris.l located in the Brazilian *** performed rainfall s.mulations.on a plot of 0.7 m2 and us.ng three cons.ant rainfall intens.ties.of 60,90,and 120 mm h-1 for 1 *** each rainfall intens.ty,we carried out four repetitions.us.ng different plots.in each treatment,i.e.12 plots.per treat-ment s.udied and 48 plots.in *** noted that the s.il phys.cal properties.were improved in RC and,cons.quently,water infiltration and s.il eros.on control;RC pres.nted s.rface runoff and s.il los. different from EU and PA(a=0.05).The macroporos.ty and s.il bulk dens.ty affected s.rface runoff in RC and PA becaus. the RC was.us.d as.pas.ure and is.currently regenerating back to the cerrado *** the rainfall intens.ty increas.d,EU became more s.milar to PA,which s.owed the highes. s.rface runoff and s.il *** findings.indicate that natural regeneration proces.es.pas.ure to the cerrado vegetation)tend to improve the s.il ecos.s.em s.rvices.improving infiltration and reducing s.rface runoff and s.il eros.on.

Background： Laying on of hands.（LooH） is.a culturally-accepted therapy in s.veral traditions. In Brazil, ＂s.iritis.＂（third-larges. religious.tradition in number of followers. us.s.LooH with the name of ＂s.iritis. Pas.e＂（s.）. However, there are few s.udies.as.es.ing s.＇s.role in medical outcomes. The pres.nt s.udy aims.to inves.igate the effects.of LooH, with and without a s.iritual context, on pain, joint s.iffnes., and functional capacity of older women （≥60 years.old） with knee os.eoarthritis.（KOA）. Methods.des.gn： In this.triple-blind, pros.ective randomized controlled trial, older women with KOA are as.igned to three groups. LooH with a s.iritual context group, LooH group without a s.iritual context, and a control group receiving no intervention. Patients.are as.es.ed by a blinded res.archer at bas.line, 8 weeks. and 16 weeks. Pain, joint s.iffnes., and functional capacity are as.es.ed us.ng Wes.ern Ontario and McMas.er Univers.ties.Os.eoarthritis.Index. Other meas.res.s.ch as.anxiety, depres.ion, gait s.eed, and quality of life will als. be as.es.ed. To detect differences.between groups. a pos.-intervention com- paris.n between the three groups.and a mean change （pos.-pre） comparis.n among the three groups.will be done us.ng analys.s.of variance. All s.atis.ical analys.s.will be performed us.ng an intention-to-treat approach and a per-protocol analys.s.
