Very long chain-saturated and-polyunsaturated fatty acids(VLC-sFA and VLC-PUFA, respectively) are a functionally important class of fatty acids containing 28 carbons or more in their acyl chain. They are synthesized by the elongation of very long fatty acids-4(ELOVL4) enzyme, expressed mainly in the brain, retina, skin, testes, and meibomian gland, where these fatty acids are found(Agbaga et al., 2008). Further, these organs exhibit tissuespecific VLC-PUFA and VLC-sFA biosynthesis and incorporation into complex lipids for specific functions. In the brain, skin, and Meibomian glands, the ELOVL4 mainly makes VLC-sFA, which are incorporated into complex sphingolipids. In the retina, the ELOVL4 makes VLC-PUFA that are incorporated into phosphatidylcholine, that are critical for visual function, while in testes and sperm, the VLC-PUFA are incorporated into sphingolipids that are critical for fertility(Yeboah et al., 2021).

The accurate simulation of wave propagation in real media requires properly taking the attenuation into account,which leads to wave dissipation together with its causal companion,wave *** this study,to obtain a weak formulation of heterogenous viscoacoustic wave propagation in an infinite domain,the viscoacoustic medium is first characterized by its frequency-dependent complex bulk compliance instead of the classically used complex bulk ***,a mechanical model using serially connected standard linear solids(ssLs)is built to obtain the rational approximation of the complex bulk compliance whose parameters are calculated via an adapted nonlinear optimization *** the obtained bulk compliance-based constitutive relation,a novel second-order viscoacoustic wave equation in the frequency domain is derived,of which the weak formulation can be physically explained as the virtual work equation and can thus be discretized using a continuous spectral element method in ***,a new method is introduced to address the convolution terms involved in the inverse Fourier transform,whose accurate time integration can then be achieved using an explicit time scheme,which avoids the transient growth that exists in the classical *** resulting full time-space decoupling scheme can handle wave propagation in arbitrary heterogeneous ***,to treat the wave propagation in an infinite domain,a perfectly matched layer in weak formulation is derived for the truncation of the infinite domain via complex coordinate stretching of the virtual work *** only minor modification,the resulting perfectly matched layer can be implemented using the same time scheme as for the wave equation inside the truncated *** accuracy,numerical stability,and versatility of the new proposed scheme are demonstrated with numerical examples.

Cesium heteropolysalts Cs3PMo12O40 and HCs3PVMo11O40 were synthesized by modifying the preparation conditions in order to get materials with a much higher surface area than the original Keggin-type heteropolyacids(H3PMo12O40 and H4PVMo11O40).These solids were used as carriers for the dispersion of H4PVMo11O40 heteropolyacid by the incipient wetness impregnation *** textural and structural properties of supports and catalysts were examined by scanning electron microscopy,N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms and Raman *** supported catalysts were studied before and after red/ox pretreatments by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,which showed that both the surface composition and oxidized to reduced species ratio depend on the used *** catalytic performances of these novel supported catalysts in the selective oxidation of isobutane to methacrylic acid and methacrolein were *** best catalytic properties were obtained when H4PVMo11O40 was supported on *** isobutane conversion and yield of the desired oxygenates increased along the unsupported H4PVMo11O40s3PMo12O40s3PVMo11O40 series.

The Finite-Element Method(FEM) is mainly used to design Compact Heat Exchanger structures. However, the narrow channel structures require fine mesh to accurately compute stress and strain. Combined with the dimensions of the overall component, this leads to an excessively large numerical model and therefore long computing time. This is especially true for transient thermal analyses, which require taking into account the full geometry. It is therefore interesting to reduce the size of the mesh. Periodic homogenization is an efficient method for achieving this goal. It can be applied to the core of the structure when periodic patterns(identified on basis of the arrangement of the channels) exist. A method based on this technique, with some improvements, is proposed in this paper for thermal loading without internal pressure. In addition to the Equivalent Homogenous Medium(EHM) replacing the periodic patterns, some explicit channels are interposed between the EHM and the cover plates. This has two advantages. The first is to smooth the transition of stiffness between the cover plates and the homogenized medium. The second one is to be able to directly compute stress and strain on the most critical channels located in this area. This paper assesses the method’s effectiveness for thermal loadings in order to conduct thermal stress analyses. First, the equivalent elastic constants of the EHM are obtained with a numerical Finite Elements Method. Then, two 2D cases using EHM are compared against a 2D explicit model(i.e. explicit geometry for the core channels). These cases are chosen to validate the EHM itself and its effectiveness for a real section of the heat exchanger. Results show very good agreement with a relative difference lower than 1%. In addition, the sensitivity to the number of layers added between the EHM and the cover plates is analysed. It is recommended interposing at least two layers of patterns to obtain converged results for the considered configuration
