Acute Fevers in the medical Unit of the medical-surgical Emergency Department of the Donka National Hospital

Introduction: Fever is a high core temperature ≥ 37.5°C in the morning and 37.8°C in the evening. It is acute when it evolves from 0 to 20 days. Very common in clinical practice, the etiological diagnosis, particularly in developing and tropical countries, is often a challenge for clinicians due to their diversity and the limited availability of diagnostic tools. There is a wide spectrum of etiological diagnoses including infectious causes and non-infectious causes. The aim of this study was to investigate the etiology of fevers acute at the medical unit in the medico-surgical emergency department of the Donka National Hospital. methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study lasting 03 months (January 01, 2022 to march 31, 2022). We included in this study all patients seen in the medical unit, whose age ≥ 18 years, without distinction of sex, from any origin, with an axillary temperature ≥ 37.5°C in the morning and 37.8°C in the evening, evolving from 0 to 20 days, hospitalized or followed on an outpatient basis, and having given verbal consent. Results: Of a total of 1087 patients seen, 466 had an acute fever. The mean age was 40.04 ± 18.91 years (18 and 96 years). The female sex (58.15%) was predominant with a sex ratio of 0.72. malaria (50.86%) was the main diagnosis. The treatment consisted of compressed paracetamol (59.01%), arthemether + lumefantrine (50.85%). Conclusion: The incidence of acute fevers is high in the medical unit of the medico-surgical emergency department of the Donka National Hospital. malaria was the main pathology. Treatment was etiological and symptomatic. This high incidence could be explained by the fact that Guinea is an endemic malaria zone. A study taking into account other etiological factors would be of great interest.

A review of progress on nano-aperture VCsEL Invited Paper

This paper reviews the progress on nano-aperture vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers （VCsELs）. The design, fabrication, and polarization control of nano-aperture VCsELs are reviewed. With the nanoaperture evolving from conventional circular and square aperture to unique C-shaped, H-shaped, I-shaped, and bowtie-shaped aperture, both the near-field intensity and near-field beam confinement from nanoaperture VCsELs are significantly improved. As a high-intensity compact light source with sub-100- nm spot size, nano-aperture VCsELs are promising to realize many new near-field optical systems and applications.

Organic dye removal and recycling performances of graphene oxide-coated biopolymer sponge

In this study, a biopolymer sponge(Ps) with a crosslinked mixture of gelatin-chitosan-poly(vinyl alcohol) was dipped into graphene oxide(GO) solution to form a composite sponge(Cs, GO-coated Ps) by a combination of simple dip-coating and freeze-drying procedures, as a sponge-like adsorbent in organic dye removal *** morphological, chemical, crystalline, mechanical and thermal characterizations of the as-obtained sponges were further investigated for the possible changes in the structure of sponge-like adsorbent after coating the GO sheets on the 3D porous structure of Ps. The results showed that the Cs had possessed effectively organic dye removal performances comparing to the Ps. In the adsorption, the Langmuir and pseudo-second-order models corresponding to a monolayer approach and a chemical adsorption were appropriated. The maximum adsorption capacity of Rhodamine B and Congo red reached 126.8 and 135.0 mg·g-1; and 145.6 and 148.6 mg·g-1corresponding onto the Ps and Cs. It indicates that the maximum adsorption capacity on the Cs enhanced significantly comparing to those on the Ps owing to the functional GO sheets coated in the 3D porous structure of Ps, which leads to supplying further functional adsorption sides on the whole 3D porous structure of Cs. Notably, the sponges-like adsorbents could be regenerated and used again without a remarkable decrease of dye removal ability occurred in 9 adsorbing–desorbing cycles. Therefore, the Cs prepared in this study can become a potential adsorbent for actual applications because of non-toxic materials, proper structural features, low-cost material and operation, and reliable recyclability.

surface characterization of polyimide and polyethylene terephthalate membranes toward plasma and UV treatments

This study is to bring an overview on various methods regarding the surface treatment performed on different polymeric membranes in relation to a deference between the treatment mechanism and their chemical ***, plasma and UV surface treatments(PsT and UsT) were utilized to treat the surfaces of two commercial membranes, i.e., aromatic polyimide and polyethylene terephthalate for various durations using a discharge electrode and an UV LED curing system, respectively. Based on the effects of PsT and UsT processes on the surface of these membranes, their surface properties have been characterized to surface morphology and hydrophilicity(or wettability), at same time the changes have probably occurred on their surface during the PsT and UsT processes. As a result, their hydrophilic behavior was significantly enhanced after conducting these treatment processes based on the investigation of water contact angle. moreover, Fourier-transform infrared and Raman spectroscopy manifested the changes in the chemical bonds, interactions and orientations of molecules, which confirmed the apparition and insertion of polar functional groups after the surface treatments, and accordingly,their wettability was enhanced significantly. Also, optical microscopy images showed direct impactions on their surface and the evidence of slight surface aging/damage during the treatment processes based on the presentation of the strange streaks on the treated surfaces. In particular, the peel forces exhibited an increase comparing to the initial membranes, which is characteristically for enhancing their adhesion behavior. Hence, these results are needful for improving the surface properties of a material, and obtaining better adhesion behavior on the membrane-like materials and recycling polymer materials.

Damage assessment of laminated composite beam structures using damage locating vector （DLV） method

In this paper, the damage locating vector (DLV) method using normalized cumulative energy (nce) is employed to locate multiple damage sites in laminated composite beam structures. Numerical simulations of two laminated composite beams are employed to investigate several damage scenarios in which the degradation of elements is modeled by the reduction in the longitudinal Young’s modulus and transverse Young’s modulus of beam layers. The results show that the DLV method gives good performance for this kind of structure.

Graphene oxide-covered melamine foam utilizing as a hybrid foam toward organic dye removal and recyclability

Graphene-based adsorbents have been attracted extensive interest in recent years. Herein, graphene oxidecovered melamine foam(GO-covered mF) was designed and prepared by a mild submerge-covering method with the support of a super-hydrophilic melamine framework, showing its adsorption performances for various organic dyes. The structure morphology as well as chemical, thermal and mechanical properties of the as-obtained hybrid foam(HF) were further determined for the possible structure changes after covering the GO sheets on the mF framework. moreover, the HF exhibited an excellent ability for organic dye adsorption application, and which was well fitted in the pseudo-second-order kinetic and Langmuir models corresponding to a chemical adsorption and a mono-layer approach during the adsorption process. The maximum adsorption capacity by using the asobtained HF corresponded to 258.56 mg g-1(methylene blue), 233.22 mg g-1(Rhodamine B), 206.92 mg g-1(methyl orange), and 184.93 mg g-1(Congo red), which are competitive with that of other graphene-based absorbents. In particular, the HF could be reused without a noticeable degradation of organic dye removal performance. As such, the HF prepared in this study can become an encouraging candidate for practical application owing to the reliable recyclability and low-cost.

As the smart city trend especially artificial intelligence,data science,and the internet of things has attracted lots of attention,many researchers have created various smart applications for improving people’s life *** it is very essential to automatically collect and exploit information in the era of industry 4.0,a variety of models have been proposed for storage problem solving and efficient data *** this paper,we present our proposed system,Trendy Keyword Extraction system(TKEs),which is designed for extracting trendy keywords from text *** system also supports storing,analyzing,and visualizing documents coming from text *** system first automatically collects daily articles,then it ranks the importance of keywords by calculating keywords’frequency of existence in order to find trendy keywords by using the Burst Detection Algorithm which is proposed in this paper based on the idea of *** method is used for detecting bursts.A burst is defined as a period of time when a keyword is continuously and unusually popular over the text stream and the identification of bursts is known as burst detection *** results from user requests could be displayed ***,we create a method in order to find a trendy keyword set which is defined as a set of keywords that belong to the same *** work also describes the datasets used for our experiments,processing speed tests of our two proposed algorithms.

ImPROVING sOLVER PERFORmANCE THROUGH REDUNDANCY

It is well known that hierarchies of mathematical programming formulatlons with different numbers of variables and constraints have a considerable impact regarding the quality of solutions obtained once these formulations are fed to a commercial solver. In addition, even if dimensions are kept the same, changes in formulations may largely influence solvability and quality of results. This becomes evident especially if redundant constraints are used. We propose a related framework for information collection based on these constraints. We exemplify by means of a well-known combinatorial optimization problem from the knapsack problem family, i.e., the multidimensional multiple-choice knapsack problem （mmKP）. This incorporates a relationship of the mmKP to some generalized set partitioning problems. moreover, we investigate an application in maritime shipping and logistics by means of the dynamic berth allocation problem （DBAP）, where optimal solutions are reached from the root node within the solver.
