Ionic liquids combined with supercriticalﬂuid technology hold great promise as working solvents for developing compact *** liquids,which are organic molten salts,typically have extremely low volatility and high functionality,but possess high viscos-ities,surface tensions and low diffusion coefﬁcients,which can limit their ***_(2),on the other hand,especially in its supercritical state,is a green solvent that can be used advantageously when combined with the ionic liquid to provide viscosity and surface tension reduction and to promote mass *** solubility of CO_(2) in the ionic liquid is key to estimating the important physical properties that include partition coefﬁcients,viscosities,densities,interfacial tensions,thermal conductivities and heat capacities needed in contactor *** this work,we examine a subset of available high pressure pure component ionic liquid PVT data and high pressure CO_(2)-ionic liquid solubility data and report new correlations for CO_(2)-ionic liquid systems with equations of state that have some industrial applications including:(1)general,(2)fuel desulfurization,(3)CO_(2) capture,and(4)chiral *** measurements of solubility data for the CO_(2) and 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium octyl sulfate,[bmim][OcSO4]system are reported and *** the correlation of the CO_(2) ionic liquid phase behavior,the Peng-Robinson and the Sanchez-Lacombe equations of state were considered and are *** is shown that excellent correlation of CO_(2) solubility can be obtained with either equation and they share some common characteristics regarding inter-action *** the Sanchez-Lacombe equation,parameters that are derived from the supercritical region were found to be important for obtaining good correlation of the CO_(2)-ionic liquid solubility data.

Preparation of Polymer Composite Particles by Phase Separation Followed by Suspension Polymerization

The novel method for preparing the polymer composite particles has been developed. It was tried to prepare polymer composite particles composed of polystyrene and carbon black with the phase separation method followed by suspension polymerization. In order to prepare the polymer composite particles with the more uniform diameter, the styrene monomer droplets containing carbon black were formed with phase separation emulsification in which ethyl alcohol and water were used as the good solvent and the poor solvent for styrene monomer, respectively. In the experiment, the surfactant species and their concentrations, the pouring velocity of water and the weight ratio of carbon black to styrene monomer were mainly changed. Water was poured at the given pouring velocity into ethyl alcohol in which styrene monomer and an initiator were dissolved and carbon black was dispersed beforehand. The spherical polymer composite particles containing carbon black were prepared with Tween 20 and Tween 80 of nonionic surfactants and the irregular polymer composite particles were prepared with PVA, SDS and Kotamine. The diameters of polymer composite particles increased with the pouring velocity of water and with the weight ratio of carbon black to styrene monomer.

Preparation of Temperature and Water Responsive Microcapsules Containing Hydroquinone with Spray Drying Method

It was tried to prepare temperature and water responsive microcapsules containing hydroquinone as a water soluble core material with the spray drying method. Microcapsules were composed of ethyl cellulose (EC), methyl cellulose (MC) and P-N-isopropylacrylamid (PNIPAM). P-N-isopropylacrylamid and methyl cellulose were used as a temperature responsive polymer and as a water responsive polymer, respectively. Ethyl cellulose was the main shell material of microcapsule. At the microencapsulation process, the core and shell materials were dissolved in ethyl alcohol dissolving water (20 wt%) and then, spray-dried to prepare microcapsules. In the fundamental operation, the concentration and molecular weight of methyl cellulose were mainly changed. The releasing rate of hydroquinone was repressed at 40°C and increased at 20°C due to temperature responsive PNIPAM. Furthermore, responsibility to water was increased with the concentration of methyl cellulose.

Sputtered nano-cobalt on H-USY zeolite for selectively converting syngas to gasoline

Selectively converting CO and H2 to gasoline product （isoparaffin and olefin） in one step still remains a great challenge. We demonstrate effective H-USY zeolite supported nano-cobalt bifunctional catalysts for this catalytic reaction, which are prepared by the novel physical sputtering process. Particles of the sputtered cobalt exist in nano-level and are well-dispersed on acid USY zeolite. Easy activation of the loaded nano-cobalt is also achieved in a low-temperature hydrogen reduction atmosphere. In the tandem catalytic reaction, the sputtered bifunctional Co/USY catalyst exhibits a much higher CO conversion and higher isoparaffin selectiv- ity than the conventional impregnated one. Compared with H-Mor, H-Beta and other zeolites supported catalysts, H-USY zeolite supported cobalt catalyst shows the clearest promotional effect on the activity of FischerTropsch synthesis. The described synthesis herein provides a new pathway to solve the problem caused by the strong metal-support interaction （MSI） in heterogeneous catalysis.

Use of Analogy by Public Health Nurses in Problem Solving for Individual Consultations in Japan: A Multiple Case Study

Aim: Nurses must develop good problem-solving skills (PSS) to work in the complex health care environment. This study explored PHNs’ use of analogy in PSS development. The purposes of the study were to clarify how PSS developed in one area (i.e., mental health) could be applied to another area (i.e., maternal health) and whether new PSS could develop in response to PSS gained in another area. Methods: A multiple case study was conducted using interviews. We interviewed 27 consultations from eight Japanese PHNs who consulted in mental health departments before transferring to maternal health departments. The data on how PHNs applied PSS in the selection, mapping, evaluation, and learning stages of the analogy process were extracted from transcribed interviewed data and compared. Results: PHNs provided 59 PSS used in 27 consultations. All PHNs applied past mental health PSS to solve new problems in maternal health. They tended to select past PSS based on structural similarity and to apply PSS via low-level abstraction in serious situations or preventively to avoid causing the current situation to worsen. Notably, PHNs developed maternal health PSS by using past mental health PSS;these new PSS were derived through analogy from various failures and successes. Conclusions: PSS developed in one area can be applied in another area, and new PSS can develop through applying these previous PSS. Identification of structural similarities and preventive analogies must be included in nursing education, especially for nurses working in public health fields.

A large impact of tropical biomass burning on CO and CO_2 in the upper troposphere

A large interannual variation of biomass burning emissions from Southeast Asia is associated with the ENSO events. During 1997/98 and 1994 El Nino years, uncontrolled wildfires of tropical rainforests and peat lands in Indonesia were enlarged due to a long drought. Enhanced CO injection into the upper troposphere from the intense Indonesian fires was clearly observed in the 8-year measurements from a regular flask sampling over the western Pacific using a JAL airliner between Australia and Japan. This airliner observation also revealed that upper tropospheric CO2 cycle largely changed during the 1997 El Nino year due partly to the biomass burning emissions. Widespread pollution from the biomass burnings in Southeast Asia was simulated using a CO tracer driven by a 3D global chemical transport model. This simulation indicates that tropical deep convections connected to rapid advection by the subtropical jet play a significant role in dispersing biomass-burning emissions from Southeast Asia on a global scale.

Microencapsulation of Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate to Generate Carbon Dioxide with Thermal Responsible Shell Material

This paper tried to develop the optimum procedure for microencapsulating water soluble solid powder with the thermal responsible material by the melting dispersion cooling method. Sodium hydrogen carbonate was adopted as a water soluble solid powder instead of microencapsulating carbon dioxide gas. The shell material was composed of olefin wax and α-tocopherol. In the experiment, the concentration of oil soluble surfactant and the water soluble surfactant species were changed. Sodium hydrogen carbonate was treated in the aqueous solution dissolving the water soluble surfactant to form the finer sodium hydrogen carbonate powder and to increase the content. The microencapsulation efficiency could be increased with the concentration of oil soluble surfactant and considerably increased by treating sodium hydrogen carbonate with the water soluble surfactant. Sodium hydrogen carbonate was protected well from environmental water. The microcapsules showed the thermal responsibility to generate carbon dioxide.

Risk factors for bleeding after endoscopic mucosal resection

AIM： To clarify the risk factors for bleeding after endoscopic mucosal resection （EMR）. METHODS： A total of 297 consecutive patients who underwent EMR were enrolled. Some of the patients had multiple lesions. Bleeding requiring endoscopic treatment was defined as bleeding after EMR. Odds ratios （OR） with 95% confidence intervals （CI）, calculated by logistic regression with multivariate adjustments for covariates, were the measures of association. RESULTS： Of the 297 patients, 57 （19.2%） patients with bleeding after EMR were confirmed. With multivariate adjustment, the cutting method of EMR, diameter, and endoscopic pattern of the tumor were associated with the risk of bleeding after EMR. The multivariate-adjusted OR for bleeding after EMR using endoscopic aspiration mucosectomy was 3.07 （95%CI, 1.59-5.92） compared with strip biopsy. The multiple-adjusted OR for bleeding after EMR for the highest quartile （16-50 mm） of tumor diameter was 5.63 （95%CI, 1.84-17.23） compared with that for the lowest （4-7 mm）. The multiple-adjusted OR for bleeding after EMR for depressed type of tumor was 4.21 （95%CI, 1.75-10.10） compared with elevated type. CONCLUSION： It is important to take tumor charactedstics （tumor size and endoscopic pattern） and cutting method of EMR into consideration in predicting bleeding after EMR.

Integrating Psychiatric Services into Comprehensive Dementia Care in the Community

Purpose: This study was conducted to clarify the utility of patient-held records as an integrated care approach for patients with dementia in the community. Method: We analyzed the family-held/patient-held records of patients with dementia in the community. The inclusion criteria in the study were as follows: 1) patient-held/family member-held records of patients with dementia in the community;2) patient-held records designed to share information across different professionals, direct-care staff members, and local government staff;and 3) the continuous participation of psychiatrists in the development and use of the patient-held records. Results: We identified eight sets of family-held/patient-held records in Japanese communities of various sizes, all of which were aimed at integrating information from various services, including information provided by medical and psychiatric professionals to the family and patient. Innovative tools have been available in the areas of the hopes and preferences of the patient, medication and monitoring, sharing information, and the use of information technology. Conclusion and Discussion: Family-held/patient-held records have potential as a tool to enhance the integrated care of people with dementia in the community.

Current profile and outcome of 100 esophageal atresia patients in the Kyushu area of Japan

Objectives: Since Spitz et al. reported the prognostic classification of esophageal atresia (EA) patients in 1994, decades have been past and there have been many advances in surgery and neonatology. Nevertheless, there have been very few reports according to the recent outcome of the neonates with EA, and otherwise, time has come to re-evaluate the credibility of this classification. The aim of this study was to validate the recent prognosis of the EA. Methods: Patient data were collected from 22 cooperative facilities during the 5 year period from 2005 to 2009 in Kyushu area, Japan. Total of 100 EA patients were retrospectively reviewed according to their characteristics and the outcome. Patient who missed the characteristics and outcome was excluded from the respective data. Results: Only 29.8% (28/94) was prenatally diagnosed and 52.0 (52/100) had associated anomalies including major congenital heart disease (CHD), abnormal chromosome, and others. According to the operation, primary anastomosis was performed 57.0% (57/100) and the staged operation was performed 34.0% (34/100). Survival rate in the neonatal period was 89.0% (89/ 100), and overall survival rate was 78.0% (78/100). According to the Spitz classification, if patients with associated anomalies were excluded, survival rate of Group 1 (>1500 g and no CHD) was 93.8% (61/65), Group 2 (<1500 g or CHD) was 68.4% (13/19), and Group 3 (<1500 g and CHD) was 50% (1/2). Conclusion: EA was proved to be rarely diagnosed prenatally. Primary outcome of the Group 1 and Group 3 in Spitz classification were fairly good, but Group 2 was worse as ever. The comprehensive treatment strategy for EA patients with birth weight under 1500 g or CHD should be reconsidered to improve the overall outcome.
