Hepatitis E virus(HEV) is an emerging pathogen and an increasingly recognized cause of graft hepatitis, especially in the post-orthotopic liver transplantation immunocompromised population. The exact incidence and prevalence of HEV infection in this population remains unclear but is certainly greater than historical estimates. Identifying acute HEV infection in this population is imperative for choosing the right course of management as it is very difficult to distinguish histologically from acute rejection on liver biopsy. Current suggested approach to manage acute HEV involves modifying immunosuppression, especially discontinuing calcineurin inhibitors which are the preferred immunosuppressive agents post-orthotopic liver transplantation. The addition of ribavirin monotherapy has shown promising success rates in clearing HEV infection and is used commonly in reported cases.

Phylogenetically Distinct Cellulose Synthase Genes Support Secondary Wall Thickening in Arabidopsis Shoot Trichomes and Cotton Fiber

Through exploring potential analogies between cotton seed trichomes （or cotton fiber） and arabidopsis shoot trichomes we discovered that CesAs from either the primary or secondary wall phylogenetic clades can support secondary wall thickening. CesA genes that typically support primary wall synthesis, AtCesA 1,2,3,5, and 6, underpin expansion and secondary wall thickening of arabidopsis shoot trichomes. In contrast, apparent orthologs of CesA genes that support secondary wall synthesis in arabidopsis xylem, AtCesA4,7, and 8, are up-regulated for cotton fiber secondary wall deposition. These conclusions arose from：（a） analyzing the expression of CesA genes in arabidopsis shoot trichomes; （b） observing birefringent secondary walls in arabidopsis shoot trichomes with mutations in AtCesA4, 7, or 8; （c） assaying up-regulated genes during different stages of cotton fiber development; and （d） comparing genes that were *** with primary or secondary wall CesAs in arabidopsis with genes up- regulated in arabidopsis trichomes, arabidopsis secondary xylem, or cotton fiber during primary or secondary wall deposition. Cumulatively, the data show that：（a） the xylem of arabidopsis provides the best model for secondary wall cellulose synthesis in cotton fiber; and （b） CesA genes within a ＂cell wall toolbox＂ are used in diverse ways for the construction of particular specialized cell walls.

Repression of embryonic traits during the seedto-seedling phase transition requires the inactivation of master transcription factors associated with *** the timing of such inactivation is controlled is ***,we report on a novel transcriptional corepressor,Arabidopsis thaliana SDR4L,that forms a feedback inhibition loop with the master transcription factors LEC1 and AbI3 to repress embryonic traits ***1 and AbI3 regulate their own expression by inducing AtSDR4L during mid to late ***4L binds to sites upstream of LEC1 and AbI4,and these transcripts are upregulated in Atsdr4l ***4 l seedlings phenocopy a LEC1 *** embryonic traits of Atsdr4l can be partially rescued by impairing LEC1 or *** penetrance and expressivity of the Atsdr4l phenotypes depend on both developmental and external cues,demonstrating the importance of AtSDR4L in seedling establishment under suboptimal conditions.

background and Aims:Utilization of living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) and its relationship with recipient Model for End-Stage Liver Disease (MELD) needs further evaluation in the United States (U.S.).We evaluated the association between recipient MELD score at the time of surgery and survival following ***:All *** LDLT recipients with MELD< 25 were evaluated using the 1995-2012 United Network for Organ Sharing *** following LDLTwas stratified into three MELD categories (MELD< 15 *** 15-19 *** 20-24) and evaluated using Kaplan-Meier methods and multivariate Cox proportional hazards ***:Overall,2,258 patients underwent *** to patients with MELD< 15,overall 5-year survival following LDLT was similar among patients with MELD 15-19 (80.9% vs.80.3%,p =0.77) and MELD 20-24 (81.2% vs.80.3%,p =0.73).When compared to patients with MELD<15,there was no significant difference in long-term post-LDLT survival among those with MELD 15-19 (HR:1.11,95% CI:0.85-1.45,p =0.45) and a non-significant trend towards lower survival in patients with MELD 20-24 (HR:1.28,95%CI:0.91-1.81,p =0.16).Only 14% of LDLTs were performed in patients with MELD 20-24 and the remaining 86% in patients with MELD< ***:LDLT is underutilized in patients with MELD 20 and higher.

Microstructure and variations in porosity in Ti-6Al-4V samples built with electron beam melting (EbM) over a range of melt scan speeds, ranging from 100 mm·s-1 to 1000 mm·s-1 were examined. Microstructure was characterized by refinement of α-phase and transformation to α′-martensite. Light optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy were used to observe these phenomena, while corresponding tensile testing and associated macro and microindentation hardness measurements were used to define the microstructural variations. Relative stiffness was observed to be linearly log-log related to relative density, corresponding to ideal porosity associated with open-cellular structures.

bisphenol A （bPA） has been shown to exert biological effects through estrogen receptor （ER）-dependent and ER-independent mechanisms. Recent studies suggest that prenatal exposure to bPA may increase the risk of childhood asthma. To investigate the underlying mechanisms in the actions of bPA, human fetal lung fibroblasts {hFLFs） were exposed to varying doses of bPA in culture for 24 hr. Effects of bPA on localization and uptake of bPA, cell viability, release of immune and developmental modulators, cellular localization and expression of ERa, ERβ and G-protein coupled estrogen receptor 30 （GPR30）, and effects of ERs antagonists on bPA-induced changes in endothelin-1 （ET-1） release were examined. bPA at 0.01-100 μmol/L caused no changes in cell viability after 24 hr of exposure, hFLFs expresses all three ERs. bPA had no effects on either cellular distribution or protein expression of ERa, however, at 100 μmol/L （or 23 μmol/L intracellular bPA） increased ERβ protein levels in the cytoplasmic fractions and GPR30 protein levels in the nuclear fractions. These paralleled with increased release of growth differentiation factor-15, decreased phosphorylation of nuclear factor kappa b p65 at serine 536, and decreased release of ET-1, interleukin-6, and interferon gamma-induced protein 10. ERs antagonists had no effects on bPA-induced decrease in ET-1 release. These data suggest that bPA at 100 μmol/L altered the release of immune and developmental modulators in hFLFs, which may negatively influence fetal lung development, maturation, and susceptibility to environmental stressors, although the role of bPA in childhood asthma remains to be confirmed in in viuo studies.
