Extensive molecular dynamics simulations are performed to determine screw dislocation mobility in austenitic Fe_(0.7)NixCr_(0.3-x) stainless steels as a function of temperature ranging from 100 to 1300 K,resolved shear stress from 30 to 140 MPa,and Ni composition from 0.0 to 30.0 at%.These mobility data are fitted to a linear mobility law with a nonzero stress offset,referred to as the threshold *** find that both the linear drag coefficient and the threshold stress increase with Ni *** drag coefficient increases with temperature,whereas the threshold stress decreases with *** on these calculations,we determine fitting functions for the linear solute drag coefficient as a function of temperature and *** mobility laws determined in this study may serve to inform dislocation dynamics simulations pertinent to dislocation network evolution at elevated temperatures for a wide composition range of austenitic stainless steels.

Since its discovery in 1993, the mitogen-activated protein （MAP） kinase p38 has attracted much attention for its role in a wide range of cellular processes, many of which involve the immune system. Although p38 has been heavily implicated in the function of all type immune cells, research has tended focus on its role in innate immunity. In this review we attempt to highlight some of the major discoveries that have been made regarding p38＇s role in adaptive immunity, and also to discuss the possible future implications of these discoveries.

Hepatitis C virus(HCV)-related liver disease is the leading indication for liver transplantation(LT) worldwide. However, HCV is an independent predictor of lower survival following LT, and recurrence of HCV postLT is virtually universal. The historic standard of care during the interferon era of HCV therapy was expectant management-initiation of antiviral therapy in the setting of documented disease progression following LT. With the advent of new direct acting antiviral(DAA) therapies for HCV, the paradigm of expectant treatment for recurrent HCV infection post-LT is shifting. The safety, tolerability, and efficacy of DAAs, even among the sickest patients with advanced liver disease, enables treatment of HCV in the pre-transplant setting among LT waitlist registrants. Finally, emerging data are supportive of preemptive therapy with DAAs in liver transplant recipients as the preferred approach. Expectant management of HCV following LT can rarely be justified in the modern era of HCV therapy.

An oxyethylene/oxybutylene block copolymer with asymmetric volume fraction (E115b105) was blended with oxybutylene homopolymer (bh) at different volume fractions of the block Crystallization behavior of the blends was studied and was compared with that of the blends from a symmetric block copolymer (E114b56). It was found that the crystallization temperature of E115b103/b28 blend is lower than that of the blends from symmetric block copolymer. For the blend with = 0.30 breakout crystallization with an Avrami exponent n 3.0 is observed. At = 0.22 the blend exhibits a variable crystallization behavior: confined crystallization with n 1.0 at lower crystallization temperatures but breakout crystallization at high crystallization temperatures. For the blend with = 0.14 and sphere morphology confined crystallization occurs at all crystallization temperatures studied. When compared with the blends from symmetric block copolymer, confined crystallization occurs more easily in the E115b103/b28 blends. The SAXS results agree with the isothermal crystallization kinetics. Deformation of the confined crystalline block is observed in the blend with =0.14 and mixed lamellar and cylinder morphologies in the blend with = 0.22.

bACKGROUND Gastrointestinal stromal tumors(GISTs)are rare primary neoplasms of the gastrointestinal tract,accounting for 1%to 2%of all gastrointestinal neoplasms *** are frequently discovered incidentally during workup for other diagnosis or intestinal obstruction,as they can present with few or no ***,GISTs confer a high degree of malignant transformation,with a progression in about 10%to 30%of *** SUMMARY A 63-year-old healthy female presented to our institution with complaints of right knee pain and limited passive and active motion in the setting of a previous right total knee arthroplasty(TKA).One year after TKA,the patient was incidentally diagnosed with a GIST,which was successfully *** removal,the patient continued to have limited range of motion of the right knee and subsequently underwent revision *** significant fibrotic adhesions were found encapsulating the femoral and tibial *** patient’s pain improved postoperatively,however,she continued to have decreased range of motion with difficulty *** We propose that this case may demonstrate a proinflammatory milieu arising from a GIST,which had a direct influence on the outcome of recent total knee *** proposed mechanism between neoplastic cytokinetic activity and adhesion formation could have implications on preoperative and postoperative orthopedic management of total knee arthroplasty.

Fluorescent Proteins(FP)can be applied as biomarkers and biosensors in the industrial and medical fields,but their large-scale use,especially for new industrial applications,is limited due to their low ***,the discovery of additives capable of preserving the activity of FP at room temperature and under stress conditions can help to expand and facilitate their commercial *** this goal,we evaluated the application of 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride-based([C_(n)mim]Cl)ionic liquids(ILs)as additives to preserve the activity of Enhanced Green Fluorescent Protein(EGFP)at different storage times and under unfavorable ***[C_(n)mim]Cl solutions(at 0.100 mol L^(-1))were able to preserve EGFP fluorescence for longer than the phosphatesaline buffer(PbS)and NaCl solutions,increasing its fluorescence manifestation from 1 to 3 months.[C_(n)mim]Cl with shorter to medium cationic alkyl chains were the most effective in preserving EGFP fluorescence.[C_(n)mim]Cl also protected EGFP activity in the presence of the surfactant SDS,the acid guanidine hydrochloride,and H_(2)O_(2).Therefore,[C_(n)mim]Cl can be added to aqueous solutions to preserve EGFP fluorescence activity at room temperature for longer storage times and to reduce the negative impact of denaturing agents on ***,there is a massive potential for the application of ILs as additives to preserve FP in the long-term without refrigeration and under unfavorable conditions,and this is fundamental to enable expansion of FP in industrial and commercial applications.

Protein kinases and phosphatases signal by phosphorylation and dephosphorylation to precisely control the activities of their individual and common substrates for a coordinated cellular outcome. In many situations, a kinase/phosphatase complex signals dynamically in time and space through their reciprocal regulations and their cooperative actions on a substrate. This complex may be essential for malignant transformation and progression and can therefore be considered as a target for therapeutic intervention. p38γ is a unique MAPK family member that contains a PDZ motif at its C-terminus and interacts with a PDZ domain-containing protein tyrosine phosphatase PTPH1. This PDZcoupled binding is required for both PTPH1 dephosphorylation and inactivation of p38γ and for p38γ phosphorylation and activation of PTPH1. Moreover, the p38γ/PTPH1 complex can further regulate their substrates phosphorylation and dephosphorylation, which impacts Ras transformation, malignant growth and progression, and therapeutic response. This review will use the p38γ/PTPH1 signaling network as an example to discuss the potential of targeting the kinase/phosphatase signaling complex for development of novel targeted cancer therapy.

In the United States,the fight to eradicate hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection has been ongoing for many years,but the results have been less than ***,patients with chronic hepatitis C (CHC) were treated with interferon-based regimens,which were associated with frequent adverse effects,suboptimal response rates,and long durations of treatment-of up to 48 *** from specialistphysicians,such as hepatologists and gastroenterologists,was needed to closely follow patients on these medications so as to monitor laboratory values and manage adverse ***,the emergence of direct-acting antiviral (DAA) agents against HCV infection have heralded outstanding progress in terms of safety,tolerability,lack of adverse effects,efficacy,and truncated duration of therapy-12 weeks or less-thereby making the need for close monitoring by specialist-physicians *** the recent approval of DAA agents by the Food and Drug Administration,the treatment model for CHC no longer relies on the limited number of specialist-physicians,which represented a major barrier to treatment access in the past,especially in underserved areas of the United *** propose and share our experiences in adapting a task-shifting treatment model,one that utilizes a relatively larger pool of non-specialist healthcare providers,such as nursing staff (medical assistants,vocational licensed nurses,registered nurses,etc.) and advanced practice providers (nurse practitioners and physician assistants),to perform a variety of important clinical functions in an effort to make DAA-based antiviral therapy widely available against HCV *** recently,task-shifting was implemented by the United States and World Health Organization in the fight against the human immunodeficiency virus and showed encouraging *** on our experiences in implementing this model at our outreach clinics,the majority of HCV-infected patients treated with DAA agents can be easily monitored by
