In this study, a total of 115,246 ground motions recorded during earthquakes of Moment magnitudes ranging from M_w 5.0 to M_w 9.0 are analyzed statistically. A total of 21 ground motion parameters characterising the recorded acceleration time histories are used in the analysis. Classification of these parameters through statistical correlation is reported and a parameter called "distance from zero-amplitude axis," or d_(Z-A), is formulated in the principal component space. the ability for d_(Z-A) to rate the damage potentials of strong motion records is evaluated through correlation of d_(Z-A) with Japan Meteorological Agency(JMA) instrumental seismic intensities. this parameter can be used to rate damage potential of any strong motion record irrespective of the magnitude and location of the earthquake. It can also be used in selecting ground motion records of appropriate damage potential in seismic design and probabilistic analysis.

the effects of cold work produced by peening processes in residual stress relaxation under elevated temperatures were *** types of peening processes namely shot peening and laser peening were used to generate different amount of cold work and residual stresses in the *** of residual stress induced by cold working were carried out using X-ray diffraction coupled with electrochemical polishing method to measure the variation of residual stress with *** stresses in shot peened samples were observed to relax more rapidly than that of laser peened ones when subjected to thermal *** data collected from the experimental investigation was then used to build a correlation function to model the effects of cold work on residual stress relaxation.A parameter describing cold work’s contribution to stress relaxation is introduced into the well-known Zener-WertAvrami(ZWA)*** model was validated against experimental measurements and showed good agreement in both shot peened and laser peened samples.

Objective:to evaluate the phytochemical and anti-bacterial efficacy of the seed kernel extract of Mangifera indica(***) against the enteropathogen,shigella dysenteriae(***), isolated from the diarrhoeal stool ***:the preliminary phytochemical screening was performed by the standard methods as described by *** extraction method was employed to extract the bioactive compounds from mango seed *** diffusion method was adopted to screen antibacterial *** inhibitory concentration(MIC) was evaluated by agar dilution *** crude extracts were partially purified by thin layer chromatography(tLC) and the fractions were analyzed by high performance thin layer chromatography(HFtLC) to identify the bioactive ***:Phytochemical scrutiny of *** indicated the presence of phytochemical constituents such as alkaloids,gums, flavanoids,phenols,saponins,steroids,tannins and *** activity was observed in two crude extracts and various fractions ***,benzene,chlor of orm,methanol and *** of methanol fraction was found to be(95±11.8)μg/*** of other fractions ranged from 130-380μg/mL Conclusions:the present study confirmed that each crude extracts and fractions of *** have significant antimicrobial activity against the isolated pathogen 5. *** antibacterial activity may be due to the phytochemical constituents of the mango seed *** phytochemical tannin could be the reason for its antibacterial activity.

stochastic characteristics of the Benue River streamflow process are examined under conditions of data austerity. the streamflow process is investigated for trend, non-stationarity and seasonality for a time period of 26 years. Results of trend analyses with Mann-Kendall test show that there is no trend in the annual mean discharges. Monthly flow series examined with seasonal Kendall test indicate the presence of positive change in the trend for some months, especially the months of August, January, and February. For the stationarity test, daily and monthly flow series appear to be stationary whereas at 1%, 5%, and 10% significant levels, the stationarity alternative hypothesis is rejected for the annual flow series. though monthly flow appears to be stationary going by this test, because of high seasonality, it could be said to exhibit periodic stationarity based on the seasonality analysis. the following conclusions are drawn：（1） there is seasonality in both the mean and variance with unimodal distribution. （2） Days with high mean also have high variance. （3） skewness coefficients for the months within the dry season period are greater than those of the wet season period, and seasonal autocorrelations for streamflow during dry season are generally larger than those of the wet season. Precisely, they are significantly different for most of the months. （4） the autocorrelation functions estimated ＂over time＂ are greater in the absolute value for data that have not been deseasonalised but were initially normalised by logarithmic transformation only, while autocorrelation functions for i = 1, 2 365 estimated ＂over realisations＂ have their coefficients significantly different from other coefficients.

We employed modified substrates as outer heterogeneous catalysts to reduce the soot originating from the incomplete diesel combustion. Here, we proposed that ceria（CeO2）-based catalysts could lower the temperature at which soot combustion occurred from 610 oC to values included in the operation range of diesel exhausts（270–400 oC）. Here, we used the sol-gel method to synthesize catalysts based on mixed oxides（ZnO：CeO2） deposited on cordierite substrates, and modified by ruthenium nanoparticles. the presence of ZnO in these mixed oxides produced defects associated with oxygen vacancies, improving thermal stability, redox potential, sulfur resistance, and oxygen storage. We evaluated the morphological and structural properties of the material by X-ray diffraction（XRD）, Brumauer-emmett-teller method（BEt）, temperature programmed reduction（H2-tPR）, scanning electron microscopy（sEM）, and transmission electron microscopy（tEM）. We investigated how the addition of Ru（0.5 wt.%） affected the catalytic activity of ZnO：CeO2 in terms of soot combustion. thermogravimetric analysis（tG/DtA） revealed that presence of the catalyst decreased the soot combustion temperature by 250 oC, indicating that the oxygen species arose at low temperatures, which was the main reason for the high reactivity of the oxidation reactions. Comparative analysis of soot emission by diffuse reflectance spectroscopy（DRs） showed that the catalyst containing Ru on the mixed oxide-impregnated cordierite samples efficiently oxidized soot in a diesel stationary motor： soot emission decreased 80%.

the oscillatory Couette flow of a magnetohydrodynamic （MHD） sisko fluid between two infinite non-conducting parallel plates is explored in a rotating frame. the lower plate is fixed, and the upper plate is oscillating in its own plane. Using MAtLAB, a numerical solution to the resulting nonlinear system is presented. the influence of the physical parameters on the velocity components is analyzed. It is found that the effect of rotation on the primary velocity is more significant than that on the secondary velocity. Further, the oscillatory character in the flow is also induced by rotation. the considered flow situation behaves inertialess when the Reynolds number is small.
