Phase Control of Transient Optical Properties of Double Coupled Quantum-Dot Nanostructure via Gaussian laser Beams

We theoretically analyze the transient properties of a probe field absorption and dispersion in a coupled semiconductor double-quantum-dot *** show that in the presence of the Gaussian laser beams,absorption and dispersion of the probe field can be dramatically influenced by the relative phase between applied fields and intensity of the Gaussian laser *** and steady-state behaviors of the probe field absorption and dispersion are discussed to estimate the required switching *** estimated range is between 5-8 ps for subluminal to superluminal light propagation.

Effects of moisture content and feed rate on milling characteristics of wild apricot pits (Prunus armeniaca l.)

Milling with decortication of wild apricot pits was done in wild apricot pit decorticator working on the principle of“impact and compression”.The milling characteristics includes decortication efficiency,percentage of husk,percentage of broken kernels and output capacity was evaluated at the different levels of moisture content,i.e.,8%,10%,12%,14%and 16%(w.b.)and feed rates,i.e.,12 g/stroke,14 g/stroke,16 g/stroke,18 g/stroke and 20 g/*** moisture content as well as feed rate significantly(Pll as brokens and output *** efficiency was initially increased and then decreased and opposite nature was found for the percentage of *** percentage of broken kernels and output capacity decreases with the increase in moisture content,while output capacity increases with the increase in feed rate and brokens decreases with the increase in feed rate of wild apricot pits.

Isolation and characterization of endosulfan-degrading bacteria from contaminated agriculture soils

Objective:To isolate and characterize endosulfan-degrading bacteria from Kerman pistachio ***:Endosulfan-degrading bacteria were enriched in Bushnell-Hass *** and sequencing of prevalent degrading strains was performed by using PCR based on amplifying 16S ***:The results showed that the soils of pistachio orchards have some degrading bacteria that are suitable for elimination of endosulfan from soils and the *** endosulfandegrading bacteria strains belong to Achromobacter xylosoxidans(strain EN3),Pseudomonas azotoformans(strain EN4),Pseudomonas brassicacearum(strain EN7)and Pseudomonas thivervalensis(strain EN8),*** best degrading strain(EN7),up to 100 mg/l,illustrated a good growth,whereas the growth was reduced in concentration higher than 100 mg/*** results of gas chromatography confirmed the decomposition of organic pesticide by ***:By using these strains and other biological reclamation methods we can eliminate bio-environmental problems.

Genetic gains with genomic versus phenotypic selection for drought and waterlogging tolerance in tropical maize(Zea mays l.)

Erratic rainfall often results in intermittent drought and/or waterlogging and limits maize(Zea mays l.)productivity in many parts of the Asian *** climate-resilient maize germplasm possessing tolerance to these key abiotic stresses without a yield penalty under optimal growing conditions is a challenge for breeders working in stress-vulnerable agro-ecologies in the *** stress-resilient maize for rainfed stress-prone ecologies is identified as one of the priority areas for CIMMYT-Asia maize *** applied rapid cycle genomic selection(RCGS)on two multiparent yellow synthetic populations(MYS-1 and MYS-2)to improve grain yield simultaneously under drought and waterlogging conditions using genomic-estimated breeding values(GEBVs).Also,the populations were simultaneously advanced using recurrent phenotypic selection(PS)by exposing them to managed drought and waterlogging and intermating tolerant plants from the two selection *** cycles per se(C1,C2,and C3)of the two populations developed using RCGS and PS approach and their test-cross progenies were evaluated separately in multilocation trials under managed drought,waterlogging,and optimal moisture *** genetic gains were observed with both GS and PS,except with PS in MYS-2 under drought and with GS in MYS-1 under *** genetic gains from GS were relatively higher under drought conditions(110 and 135 kg ha^(-1) year^(-1))compared to waterlogging(38 and 113 kg ha^(-1) year^(-1))in both MYS-1 and MYS-2,***,under waterlogging stress PS showed at par or better than GS as gain per year with PS was 80 and 90 kg ha^(-1),whereas with GS it was 90 and 43 kg ha^(-1) for MYS-1 and MYS-2,*** findings suggested that careful constitution of a multiparent population by involving trait donors for targeted stresses,along with elite highyielding parents from diverse genetic background,and its improvement using RCGS is an effe
