Although many techniques are available to assess enamel erosion in vitro, a simple, non-destructive method with sufficient sensitivity for quantifying dental erosion is required. This study characterized the bovine dental enamel erosion induced by various acidic beverages in vitro using attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared （ATR-FTIR） spectroscopy. Deionized water （control） and 10 acidic beverages were selected to study erosion, and the pH and neutralizable acidity were measured. Bovine anterior teeth （110） were polished with up to 1 200-grit silicon carbide paper to produce flat enamel surfaces, which were then immersed in 20 mL of the beverages for 30 min at 37 ℃. The degree of erosion was evaluated using ATR-FTIR spectroscopy and Vickers＇ microhardness measurements. The spectra obtained were interpreted in two ways that focused on the ~1, ~3 phosphate contour： the ratio of the height amplitude of ~3 P04 to that of/11 P04 （Method 1） and the shift of the v3 P04 peak to a higher wavenumber （Method 2）. The percentage changes in microhardness after the erosion treatments were primarily affected by the pH of the immersion media. Regression analyses revealed highly significant correlations between the surface hardness change and the degree of erosion, as detected by ATR-FTIR spectroscopy （P〈0.001）. Method 1 was the most sensitive to these changes, followed by surface hardness change measurements and Method 2. This study suggests that ATR- FTIR spectroscopy is potentially advantageous over the microhardness test as a simple, non-destructive, sensitive technique for the quantification of enamel erosion.

As video compression is one of the core technologies required to enable seamless medical data streaming in mobile healthcare applications,there is a need to develop powerful media codecs that can achieve minimum bitrates while maintaining high perceptual *** Video Coding(VVC)is the latest video coding standard that can provide powerful coding performance with a similar visual quality compared to the previously developed method that is High Efficiency Video Coding(HEVC).In order to achieve this improved coding performance,VVC adopted various advanced coding tools,such as flexible Multi-type Tree(MTT)block structure which uses Binary Tree(BT)split and Ternary Tree(TT)***,VVC encoder requires heavy computational complexity due to the excessive Ratedistortion Optimization(RDO)processes used to determine the optimalMTT block *** this paper,we propose a fast MTT decision method with two Lightweight Neural Networks(LNNs)using Multi-layer Perceptron(MLP),which are applied to determine the early termination of the TT split within the encoding *** results show that the proposed method significantly reduced the encoding complexity up to 26%with unnoticeable coding loss compared to the VVC TestModel(VTM).

A Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM) Recurrent Neural Network(RNN) has driven tremendous improvements on an acoustic model based on Gaussian Mixture Model(GMM). However, these models based on a hybrid method require a forced aligned Hidden Markov Model(HMM) state sequence obtained from the GMM-based acoustic model. Therefore, it requires a long computation time for training both the GMM-based acoustic model and a deep learning-based acoustic model. In order to solve this problem, an acoustic model using CTC algorithm is proposed. CTC algorithm does not require the GMM-based acoustic model because it does not use the forced aligned HMM state sequence. However, previous works on a LSTM RNN-based acoustic model using CTC used a small-scale training corpus. In this paper, the LSTM RNN-based acoustic model using CTC is trained on a large-scale training corpus and its performance is evaluated. The implemented acoustic model has a performance of 6.18% and 15.01% in terms of Word Error Rate(WER) for clean speech and noisy speech, respectively. This is similar to a performance of the acoustic model based on the hybrid method.

Risk factors for postoperative recurrence after primary bowel resection in patients with Crohn's disease

AIM To evaluate the risk factors for postoperative recurrence after primary bowel resection in a cohort of Korean Crohn's disease(CD) *** This study included 260 patients with no history of previous bowel surgery who underwent primary surgery for CD between January 2000 and December 2010 at Asan Medical Center(Seoul, South Korea). The median follow-up period was 101 *** During the follow-up period, 66 patients(25.4%) underwent a second operation for disease *** 1, 5 and 10 years after the first operation, the cumulative rate of surgical recurrence was 1.1%, 8.3% and 35.9% and clinical recurrence occurred in 1.2%, 23.6% and 68.1%, respectively. In multivariate analysis, undergoing an emergency operation was a significant risk factor for surgical recurrence-free survival(SRFS) [HR = 2.431, 95%CI: 1.394-4.240, P = 0.002], as were the presence of perianal disease after the first operation(HR = 1.715, 95%CI: 1.005-2.926, P = 0.048) and history of smoking(HR = 1.798, 95%CI: 1.088-2.969, P = 0.022). The postoperative use of antitumor necrosis factor(TNF) agents reduced SRFS risk(HR = 0.521, 95%CI: 0.300-0.904, P = 0.02).CONCLUSION History of smoking, postoperative perianal disease and undergoing an emergency operation were independent risk factors for surgical recurrence. Using anti-TNF agents may reduce surgical recurrence.

地应力和时序性对聚能射流爆破岩体损伤有显著影响。本文理论分析了地应力爆破下炮孔周围岩体应力分布规律和爆破裂纹发育范围,运用数值模拟研究了各向同性和各向异性压力下岩体破碎区的形状、射流侵蚀长度和裂纹扩展特征,探讨了延时效应对裂纹扩展贯通的影响。结果表明,聚能射流爆破实现了裂纹定向扩展,提高了裂纹扩展长度。在各向同性压力下,破碎区呈圆形,破碎区半径、射流侵蚀长度和裂纹长度随着地应力的增加而减小。在各向异性的压力下,破碎区呈椭圆形;水平和垂直方向的压力差值越大,破碎区的各向异性就越明显。随着侧压系数k逐渐减小,水平和垂直方向裂纹长度分别呈减小和增加的趋势。炮孔垂直方向裂纹长度随延迟时间的延长而增加。本研究可为地应力条件下聚能射流爆破和延时效应对岩石损伤行为的发展提供理论指导。

BACKGROUND Thermal injuries on free transferred or replanted tissues resulting from loss of sensibility are an infrequent *** require immediate and appropriate management before they progress to an irreversible *** negative pressure wound therapy(NPWT)can prevent wound progression by increasing microcirculation,the inappropriate application of NPWT on complicationthreatened transferred and replanted tissues can induce an adverse *** SUMMARY A 48-year-old woman who underwent immediate breast reconstruction with a deep inferior epigastric artery perforator free *** applying a heating pad directly to the flap site,she sustained a deep second to third-degree contact burn over 30%of the transferred flap on postoperative 7 *** the necrotic changes had progressed,we applied an NPWT dressing over the burned area after en-bloc debridement of the transferred tissues on postoperative 21 *** 4 d of NPWT application,the exposed fatty tissues of the flap changed to dry and browncolored necrotic *** further debridement,we noted that the wound gradually reached total necrosis with a collapsed vascular pedicle of deep inferior epigastric *** Although NPWT has been shown to be successful for treating various wound types,the significant risk of NPWT application in short-lasting reconstructed flap wounds after thermal injury should be reminded.

This work demonstrated the viability of friction stir welding for the welding of medium-Mn steels when used as cryogenic vessel materials for liquefied gas *** used an intercritically annealed Fe-7 Mn-0.2 C-3 Al(wt.%)steel with a dual-phase(α'martensite andγ_(R) retained austenite)nanolaminate structure as a base material and systematically compared its microstructure and impact toughness after friction stir and tungsten inert gas *** friction stir welded specimen exhibited a large amount ofγ_(R) phase owing to a relatively low temperature during welding,whereas the tungsten inert gas welded specimen comprised only theα'***,the friction stir welded steel exhibited a tuned morphology of nanoscale globular microstructure at the weld zone and did not exhibit any prior austenite grain boundary due to active recrystallization caused by deformation during *** preserved fraction ofγ_(R) and morphological tuning in the weldment improved the impact toughness of the friction stir welded steel at low *** the steel processed by tungsten inert gas welding,the notch crack propagated rapidly along the prior austenite grain boundaries-weakened by Mn and P segregations-resulting in poor impact ***,the friction stir welded steel exhibited a higher resistance against notch crack propagation due to the slow crack propagation along the ultrafine ferrite/ferrite(α/α)interfaces,damage tolerance by the active transformation-induced plasticity from the large amount ofγR,and enhanced boundary cohesion by suppressed Mn and P segregations.

Facile Synthesis of Porous Carbon Nitride Spheres with Hierarchical Three-Dimensional Mesostructures for CO_(2) Capture

Porous carbon nitride(CN)spheres with partially crystalline frameworks have been successfully synthesized via a nanocasting approach by using spherical mesoporous cellular silica foams(MCFs)as a hard template,and ethylenediamine and carbon tetrachloride as *** resulting spherical CN materials have uniform diameters of ca.4μm,hierarchical three-dimensional(3-D)mesostructures with small and large mesopores with pore diameters centered at ca.4.0 and 43 nm,respectively,a relatively high BET surface area of~550 m^(2)/g,and a pore volume of 0.90 cm^(3)/***-resolution transmission electron microscope(HRTEM)images,wide-angle X-ray diffraction(XRD)patterns,and Raman spectra demonstrate that the porous CN material has a partly graphitized *** addition,elemental analyses,X-ray photoelectron spectra(XPS),Fourier transform infrared spectra(FT-IR),and CO_(2) temperature-programmed desorption(CO_(2)-TPD)show that the material has a high nitrogen content(17.8 wt%)with nitrogen-containing groups and abundant basic *** hierarchical porous CN spheres have excellent CO_(2) capture properties with a capacity of 2.90 mmol/g at 25℃and 0.97 mmol/g at 75℃,superior to those of the pure carbon materials with analogous *** can be mainly attributed to the abundant nitrogen-containing basic groups,hierarchical mesostructure,relatively high BET surface area and stable ***,the presence of a large number of micropores and small mesopores also enhance the CO_(2) capture performance,owing to the capillary condensation effect.
