Intestinal endometriosis:Diagnostic ambiguities and surgical outcomes

BACKGROUND Endometriosis is a common disease for women of reproductive age. However,when it involves intestines, it is difficult to diagnose preoperatively because its symptoms overlap with other diseases and the results of evaluations can be unspecific. Thus it is important to know the clinical characteristics of intestinal endometriosis and how to exactly *** To analyze patients in whom intestinal endometriosis was diagnosed after surgical treatments, and to evaluate the clinical characteristics of preoperatively misdiagnosed *** We retrospectively reviewed the pathologic reports of 30 patients diagnosed as having intestinal endometriosis based on surgical specimens between January2000 and December 2017. We reviewed their clinical characteristics and surgical *** Twenty-three(76.6%) patients showed symptoms associated with endometriosis,with dysmenorrhea being the most common(n = 9, 30.0%). Thirteen patients(43.3%) had a history of pelvic surgeries. Ten patients(33.3%) had a history of treatment for endometriosis. Only 4 patients(13.3%) had a diagnosis of endometriosis based on endoscopic biopsy findings. According to preoperative evaluations, 13 patients(43.3%) had an initial diagnosis of pelvic endometriosis and 17 patients(56.6%) were misdiagnosed as having other diseases. The most common misdiagnosis was submucosal tumor in the large intestine(n = 8, 26.7%),followed by malignancies of the colon/rectum(n = 3, 10.0%) and ovary(n = 3,10.0%). According to the Clavien-Dindo classification, 5 complications were grade I or II and 2 complications were grade IIIa. Centrifugal pumps are being widely used in many industrial and commercial *** of these pumps are being operated at constant speed but could provide energy savings through adjustable speed *** purpose of this study was to get the energy saving rates of the multistage centrifugal pump with variable speed *** this investigation an experimental set up of variable flow and pressure system was made to get energy saving rates and numerical analyses are applied to validate the pump *** energy saving and therefore the cost saving depends on the specific duty cycle of which the machine *** cycle is the proportion of time during which a component,device and system is *** duty cycle segmented into different flow rates and weighting the average value for each segment by the interval *** system was operated at 50%or less of the pump *** input power of the system was carried out by pump characteristics curve of each operating *** energy consumption was done by the product of specific duty cycle and the input power of the system for constant speed and variable speed drive *** total energy consumed for constant speed drive pump was 75,770 k *** and for variable speed drive pump was 31,700 k *** total energy saving of the system was 44,070 k *** or 58.16%***,this paper suggests a method of implementing an energy saving on variable-flow and pressure system of the multistage centrifugal pump.

Zinc metal anodes(ZMA)have high theoretical capacities(820 mAh g−1 and 5855 mAh cm−3)and redox potential(−0.76 V *** hydrogen electrode),similar to the electrochemical voltage window of the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)in a mild acidic electrolyte system,facilitating aqueous zinc batteries competitive in next-generation energy storage ***,the HER and byproduct formation effectuated by water-splitting deteriorate the electrochemical performance of ZMA,limiting their *** this study,a key factor in promoting the HER in carbon-based electrode materials(CEMs),which can provide a larger active surface area and guide uniform zinc metal deposition,was investigated using a series of threedimensional structured templating carbon electrodes(3D-TCEs)with different local graphitic orderings,pore structures,and surface *** ultramicropores of CEMs are the determining critical factors in initiating HER and clogging active surfaces by Zn(OH)2 byproduct formation,through a systematic comparative study based on the 3D-TCE series *** the 3D-TCEs had a proper graphitic structure with few ultramicropores,they showed highly stable cycling performances over 2000 cycles with average Coulombic efficiencies of≥99%.These results suggest that a well-designed CEM can lead to high-performance ZMA in aqueous zinc batteries.

In this research, the morphologies, isothermal-crystallization kinetics, and spherulite growth of aliphatic polyketone/polyamide-6 blends were studied. A single glass-transition temperature （Tg） was determined, and the composition dependence of Tg for these blends was well described by the Kwei equation. The strong intermolecular interaction between the two polymer components was confirmed by melting-point depression. The isothermal-crystallization kinetics were analyzed on the basis of the Avrami approach. A linear increase in the radii of the spherulites with time was observed for all compositions. All the spherulites continued to grow at nearly identical growth rates. With increasing polyamide-6 content, the size of the spherulites in the polyketone/polyamide-6 blends gradually decreased, and the number of spherulites in the blends increased.

Advances in metal-organic frameworks （lVIOFs） resulted in significant contributions to diverse applications such as carbon capture, gas storage, heat transformation and separation along with emerging applications toward catalysis, medical imaging, drug deliver~ and sensing. The unique in situ and ex situ structural features of MOFs can be tailored by conceptual selection of the organic （e.g., ligand） and inorganic （e.g., metal） components. Here, we provide a comprehensive review on the synthesis and characterization of MOFs, particularly with respect to controlling their size and morphology. A better understanding of the specific size and morphological parameters of MOFs will help initiate a new era for their real-world applications. Most importantly, this assessment will help develop novel synthesis methods for MOFs and their hybrid/porous materials counterparts with considerably improved properties in targeted applications.

field attraction test of (7R,8S)-cis-7,8-epoxy-2- methyloctadec-17-ene (= 7R,8S-epo-2me-17ene-18Hy), a trace component of the sex pheromone gland of the Asian gypsy moth,(Lymantria dispar), traps that were baited with the trace component attracted more L. dispar than traps baited with (7S,8R)-cis-7,8-epoxy-2-methyloctadec-17-ene (= 7S,8R-epo-2me-17ene-18Hy) and unbaited traps. However, traps baited with 7R,8S-epo-2me-17ene-18Hy were less attractive than traps baited with (+)-disparlure [=(7R,8S)-cis-7,8-epoxy-2-methyloctadecane], the sex pheromone of L. dispar. Combination tests with (?)-disparlure, 7R,8S-epo-2me-17ene-18Hy, and 7S,8R-epo-2me- 17ene-18Hy revealed that 7R,8S-epo-2me-17ene-18Hy acted synergistically with (?)-disparlure.
