Multiyear Observations of d.position-Mod. Ice Nucleating Particles at Two High-Altitud. Stations in Ind.a

Ice nucleating particle(INP) measurements were mad. at two high-altitud. stations in Ind.a. Aerosols collected.on filter paper at Girawali Observatory, Inter University Center for Astronomy & Astrophysics(IGO), and.at the Rad.o Astronomy Center, Ooty(RAC), were activated.in d.position mod. using a thermal grad.ent d.ffusion chamber to d.termine the INP concentrations. The measurement campaigns at IGO were cond.cted.d.ring 2011, 2013 and.2014, and.at RAC d.ring 2013 and.2014. When the aerosol samples were exposed.to an ice supersaturation of between 5% and.23% in the temperature range-17.6?C to-22?C, the maximum INP number concentration at IGO and.RAC was 1.0 L-1and.1.6 L-1, respectively.A maximum correlation coefficient of 0.76 was observed.between the INP number concentration and.ice supersaturation. The airmass trajectories analyzed.for the measurement campaigns showed.that the Arabian d.sert and.arid.regions were the main INP contributors. Elemental analysis of particles showed.the presence of Na, Cl, Si, Al, Fe, Cu, Co, Cd. S, Mn and.K, as well as some rare-Earth elements like Mo, Ru, La, Ce, V and.Zr. When aerosols in the size range 0.5–20 μm were consid.red. the fraction that acted.as INPs was 1 : 104to 1 : 106at IGO, and.1 : 103to 1 : 104at RAC. The higher ratio of INPs to aerosols at RAC than IGO may be attributable to the presence of rare-Earth elements observed.in the aerosol samples at RAC, which were absent at IGO.

Various Wireless Sensor Network(WSN)applications require the common task of collecting the d.ta from the sensor nod.s using the *** the proced.re of collecting d.ta is iterative,an effective technique is necessary to obtain the d.ta efficiently by red.cing the consumption of nod.l ***,a technique for d.ta red.ction in WSN is presented.in this paper by proposing a pred.ction algorithm,called.Hierarchical Fractional Bid.rectional Least-Mean Square(HFBLMS)*** novel algorithm is d.signed.by mod.fying Hierarchical Least-Mean Square(HLMS)algorithm with the inclusion of BLMS for bid.rectional-based.d.ta pred.ction and.Fractional Calculus(FC)in the weight upd.te *** red.nd.ncy is achieved.by transmitting only those d.ta required.based.on the d.ta pred.cted.at the sensor nod. and.the ***,the proposed.HFBLMS algorithm red.ces the energy consumption in the network by the effective pred.ction attained.by *** metrics,such as energy consumption and.pred.ction error,are used.for the evaluation of performance of the HFBLMS pred.ction algorithm,where it can attain energy values of 0.3587 and.0.1953 at the maximum number of round. and.pred.ction errors of just 0.0213 and.0.0095,using air quality and.localization d.tasets,respectively.

Frequency and.temperature d.pend.nt d.electric d.spersion of 20PbF2？20TeO2？（60？x）B2O3？xEu2O3（x=0 to 2.5, mole fraction, %） glasses prepared.by the melt？quenching technique were investigated.in the frequency range 1 Hz？10 MHz and.temperature range 313？773 K. d.electric relaxation d.namics was analyzed.based.on the electric mod.lus behavior. d.electric losses （tanδ） are found.to be negligibly small in the temperature range 313？523 K, proving good.thermal stability of the glasses. The present Eu2O3-d.ped.oxyfluroborate glasses showed.low d.electric loss at higher frequency and.lower temperature, proving their suitability for nonlinear optical materials.

Time-resolved.spectral analysis of prompt emission from long gamma-ray bursts with GeV emission

We performed.d.tailed.time-resolved.spectroscopy of bright tong gamma- ray bursts （GRBs） which show significant GeV emissions （GRB 080916C, GRB 090902B and.GRB 090926A）. In ad.ition to the stand.rd.Band.mod.l, we also use a mod.l consisting of a black bod. and.a power law to fit the spectra. We find.that for the latter mod.l there are ind.cations of an ad.itional soft component in the spectra. While previous stud.es have shown that such mod.ls are required.for GRB 090902B, here we find.that a composite spectral mod.l consisting of two blackbod.es and.a power law ad.quately fits the d.ta of all the three bright GRBs. We investigate the evolution of the spectral parameters and.find.several interesting features that appear in all three GRBs, like （a） temperatures of the blackbod.es are strongly correlated.with each other, （b） fluxes in the black bod. components are strongly correlated.with each other, （c） the temperatures of the black bod. trace the profile of the ind.vid.al pulses of the GRBs, and.（d. the characteristics of power law components like the spectral ind.x and.the d.layed.onset bear a close similarity to the emission characteristics in the GeV regions. We d.scuss the implications of these results and.the possibility of id.ntifying the rad.ation mechanisms d.ring the prompt emission of GRBs.

Significance of glacio-morphological factors in glacier retreat：a case stud. of part of Chenab basin,Himalaya

A stud. has been carried.out in part of Chenab basin,Himalaya to und.rstand.the relationship between glacio-morphological factors and.change in glacial area. Initially change in areal extent of glaciers was d.rived.for two time frames(1962-2001/02 and.2001/02-2010/11). The stud. comprised.of 324 glaciers for the monitoring period.of 1962-2001/02 for,which 11% loss in glacial area was observed. Two hund.ed.and.thirty-eight glaciers were further monitored.between 2001/02 and.2010/11. These glaciers showed.an area loss of 1.1%. The annual d.glaciation has been found.to be higher d.ring the period.of 1962-2001/02 compared.to 2001/02-2010/11. The spatial and.temporal variability in d.glaciation was also ad.ressed.usingglacio-morphic parameters. Area,length,percentage of d.bris cover,and.various elevation parameters of glaciers were observed.to have significant controls on relationships to the rate of glacial shrinkage. Largerarea and.longer glaciers show a lower percentage of retreat than smaller and.shorter ones. Moreover,glaciers located.at lower altitud.s and.having gentle slopes show more area retreat. The results of area retreat in d.bris covered.and.d.bris free glaciers supports that the glaciers covered.by d.bris retard.ice melting at some extent. 158 glaciers were observed.having no d.bris cover,and.these exhibit 14% of loss in surface area. In glaciers having 40% d.bris cover,8% of d.glaciation was observed. The glaciers located.below equilibrium line altitud.(ELA) have experienced.4.6% of d.glaciation for the time frame 2001/02 – 2010/11 whereas it was found.to be 1.1% for the glaciers occurring above ELA. However,theorientation of glaciers d.d.not show any consid.rable influence on glacial change based.on hypothesis.

Nano-sized.trinitrotoluene(TNT) material restrained.in silica gel has been prepared.by using the sol-gel process to stud. the effect of varying porosity in gel on the sensitivity of TNT. The TNT content in the gel has been varied.from 60 to 90 wt %(at fixed.acetone/tetramethoxysilane ratio of 50). Also, for a fixed.TNT content of 75 wt %, the pore structure in the gel has been varied.by changing the ratio of silica gel precursor to the solvent. The resultant TNT–silica gel composites have been characterized.using scanning electron microscopy, thermal analysis, small angle X-ray scattering and.surface area analysis techniques. Impact sensitivity stud.es were carried.out using Fall Hammer Impact Test. The results showed.that the sensitivity of nanostructured.explosives prepared.by sol-gel process can be tailored.precisely by controlling the process parameters.

Glasses based.on Sm3+ d.ped.zinc fluoroborate were synthesized.and.characterized. Formations of glasses were investigated.in the 30 ZnF2-20 TeO2-(50-x)B2O3-x Sm2O3 matrix. Fast quenching and.ad.quate heat treatment are required.to prevent melt crystallization and.to d.minish thermal stress, which result in an efficient amorphous material. The d.fferential scanning calorimetry(d.C), scanning electron microscopy(SEM), energy d.spersive X-ray analysis(Ed.X), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) were employed.to record. calculate, measure and.analyze the stability, d.nsity and.refractive ind.x of the glass samples with d.fferent concentrations of Sm3+ ranging between 0 to 2.5%(mass fraction). XPS result shows the values of core-level bind.ng energy(Zn 3s, Sm 4d. Te 3d. B 1s, O 1s and.F 1s) of(ZnF2-TeO2-B2O3-Sm2O3) glass matrix and.ind.cates the good.fusibility of the present glass samples. d.nsity of the glass samples increases as d.pant concentration increases and.glass transition temperature tg ranges between 395 °C and.420 °C.
