Efficacy and safety of S-1 maintenance therapy in advanced nonsmall- cell lung cancer patients

BACKGROUND Previous reports have demonstrated that S-1 has remarkable effects in the maintenance treatment of advanced non-small-cell lung cancer(NSCLC),and has less toxic and side effects than conventional *** To investigate the efficacy and safety of S-1 maintenance therapy in patients with advanced *** Ninety-four patients with NSCLC admitted to our hospital from September 2015 to April 2018 were included in the study and divided into the S-1 group(47 cases)and the gemcitabine group(47 cases)by random digital table *** S-1 group was treated with S-1,while the gemcitabine group received gemcitabine *** clinical efficacy and quality of life of the patients after treatment in the two groups were *** There was no significant difference in the total effectiveness rate between the two groups(P=0.519).The quality-of-life scores indicated that there was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of four dimensions of the GQOLI-74 questionnaire(P=0.518,0.094,0.338,0.418).The incidence of nausea and vomiting,granulocytopenia and diarrhea in the S-1 group was significantly lower than that in the gemcitabine group(P=0.001,0.001 and 0.001,respectively).There was no significant difference in the incidence of thrombocytopenia(P=0.366),the progression-free survival(P=0.064),and the survival between the two groups(P=0.050).CONCLUSION S-1 maintenance therapy shows a significant therapeutic effect in patients with advanced *** has the same clinical efficacy as gemcitabine,but with less toxic and side effects than conventional drugs.

Structural characteristics and magnetic properties of bulk nanocrystalline Fe_(84)Zr_2Nb_4B_(10) alloy prepared by mechanical alloying and spark plasma sintering consolidation

Magnetic properties of Fe84Zr2Nb4B10 sample were investigated. The sample was produced from nanocrystalline powders made by the mechanical alloying (MA) and consolidation using the spark plasma sintering (SPS) technique. Effects of milling time on phase transformation, structural characteristics, and magnetic properties of powders were examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and physical property measure system (PPMS), respectively. Results show that nanostructured α-Fe supersaturated solid solution is obtained in the final MAed products. The saturation magnetization (Ms) increased with increasing milling time and became constant at 130 h, but the coercivity (Hc) increased firstly and then decreased. The consolidated bulk sample exhibited a high density of 6.893 g·cm-3, there was no phase change during SPS process, and the saturation magnetization and susceptibility of the SPSed bulk sample improved in comparison with the milled powders. The variation of magnetic parameters can be explained by nano-scale effect and Herzer model.

We investigate the effect of decay-induced interference on photon correlation in a nearly equispaced three-level driven ladder *** is found that the combination of destructive interference and two-photon resonance are responsible for the occurrence of nonclassical *** addition,the bunching or antibunching behavior of the two emission processes can be controlled by the relative phase of the two applied fields attributed to the phase control spontaneous emission enhancement or cancellation.

The fibroblast growth factor receptor(FGFR) family plays important roles in regulating cell growth, proliferation, survival,differentiation and angiogenesis. Deregulation of the FGF/FGFR signaling pathway has been associated with multiple development syndromes and cancers, and thus therapeutic strategies targeting FGFs and FGFR in human cancer are currently being ***, few studies on the FGF/FGFR pathway have been conducted in sarcoma, which has a poor outcome with traditional treatments such as surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. Hence, in the present review, we provide an overview of the role of the FGF/FGFR pathway signal in sarcoma and FGFR inhibitors, which might be new targets for the treatment of sarcomas according to recent research.

Locally Resonant Gaps of Phononic Beams Induced by Periodic Arrays of Resonant Shunts

Distribution of ^(56)Ni Yields of Type Ia Supernovae and its Implication for Progenitors

The amount of 56↑Ni produced in Type Ia supernova （SN Ia） explosion is probably the most important physical parameter underlying the observed correlation of SN Ia luminosities with their light curves. Based on an empirical relation between the 56↑Ni mass and the light curve parameter △m15, we obtained rough estimates of the 56↑Ni mass for a large sample of nearby SNe Ia with the aim of exploring the diversity in SN Ia. We found that the derived 56↑Ni masses for different SNe Ia could vary by a factor of ten （e.g., MNi = 0.1 - 1.3 M⊙）, which cannot be explained in terms of the standard Chandrasekhar-mass model （with a 56↑Ni mass production of 0.4 - 0.8 M⊙）. Different explosion and/or progenitor models are clearly required for various SNe Ia, in particular, for those extremely nickel-poor and nickel-rich producers. The nickel-rich （with MNi 〉 0.8 M⊙） SNe Ia are very luminous and may have massive progenitors exceeding the Chandrasekhar-mass limit since extra progenitor fuel is required to produce more 56↑Ni to power the light curve. This is also consistent with the finding that the intrinsically bright SNe Ia prefer to occur in stellar environments of young and massive stars. For example, 75% SNe Ia in spirals have △ml5 〈 1.2 while this ratio is only 18% in E/S0 galaxies. The nickel-poor SNe Ia （with MNi 〈 0.2 M⊙） may invoke the sub- Chandrasekhar model, as most of them were found in early-type E/S0 galaxies dominated by the older and low-mass stellar populations. This indicates that SNe Ia in spiral and E/S0 galaxies have progenitors of different properties.

Optical quality of toric intraocular lens implantation in cataract surgery

AIM: To analyze the optical quality after implantation of toric intraocular lens with optical quality analysis ***: Fifty-two eyes of forty-four patients with regular corneal astigmatism of at least 1.00 D underwent implantation of Acry Sof toric intraocular lens, including T3 group 19 eyes, T4 group 18 eyes, T5 group 10 eyes,T6 group 5 eyes. Main outcomes evaluated at 3mo of follow-up, included uncorrected distance visual acuity(UDVA), corrected distance visual acuity(CDVA), residual refractive cylinder and intraocular lens(IOL) axis *** optical quality were measured using optical quality analysis system(OQAS Ⅱ, Visiometrics, Spain),included the cutoff frequency of modulation transfer function(MTFcutoff), objective scattering index(OSI),Strehl ratio, optical quality analysis system value(OV)100%, OV 20% and OV 9% [the optical quality analysis system(OQAS) values at contrasts of 100%, 20%, and 9%].RESULTS: At 3mo postoperative, the mean UDVA and CDVA was 0.18 ±0.11 and 0.07 ±0.08 log MAR; the mean residual refractive cylinder was 0.50 ±0.29 D; the mean toric IOL axis rotation was 3.62 ±1.76 degrees, the mean MTFcutoff, OSI, Strehl ratio, OV 100%, OV 20% and OV9% were 22.862 ±5.584, 1.80 ±0.84, 0.155 ±0.038, 0.76 ±0.18,0.77±0.19 and 0.78±0.21. The values of UDVA, CDVA, IOL axis rotation, MTFcutoff, OSI, Strehl ratio, OV100%,OV20% and OV9% depending on the power of the cylinder of the implantation were not significantly different(P >0.05), except the residual refractive cylinder(P <0.05).CONCLUSION: The optical quality analysis system was useful for characterizing the optical quality of Acry Sof toric IOL implantation. Implantation of an Acry Sof toric IOL is an effective and safe method to correct corneal astigmatism during cataract surgery.
