Photodynamic therapy(PDT)has emerged as a promising approach for squamous cell carcinoma treatment but hindered by tumor hypoxia,acquired resistance,phototoxicity,and so *** address these issues,we developed a smart strategy utilizing activable photosensitizers delivered by an aptamer-functionalized DNA probe(ADP).The ADP incorporated an AS1411 aptamer for tumor targeting and a linear antisense oligonucleotide(ASO)for recognition of Survivin *** the absence of the target,PDT remained quenched,thereby avoiding phototoxicity during circulation and nonselective *** the aid of the aptamer,ADP achieved selective targeting of *** internalization,ADP targeted recognized Survivin mRNA,triggering PDT activation,and releasing ASO to down-regulate Survivin expression and reverse tumor ***,the activable photosensitizers exhibited an“AND”logic gate,combining tumor-targeting delivery and tumor-related gene activation,thus enhancing its ***,the incorporation of hemin into the ADP provided catalase activity,converting tumor-abundant H_(2)O_(2) into O_(2),thereby ameliorating tumor *** resulting functionalized G-quadruplex/hemin–DNA probe complex demonstrated targeted delivery and activation,minimized side effects,and enhanced PDT efficacy in both xenograft tumor-bearing mice and patient-derived xenograft *** study offers a unique and promising platform for efficient and safe PDT,thus holding great potential for future clinical translation and improved cancer therapy.

The effect of friction block hole configurations on the brake tribological performance of high-speed trains

Three triangular friction block configurations are commonly employed in high-speed train brake systems,namely,unperforated,perforated configuration with one circular hole,and perforated with three circular *** this study,we adopted these friction block types to investigate the effect of perforated friction block configurations on the brake performance of high-speed trains based on a self-developed brake test *** results indicate the significant impact of the number of the holes on the wear behavior,temperature distribution,and vibration characteristics of the brake *** friction surface of the unperforated block is covered by wear debris,while the perforated blocks produce less wear ***,the one-hole block exhibits a more uniform temperature distribution and better vibration behavior than that with three *** friction brake is a dynamic process,during which separation and attachment between the pad and disc alternatively occur,and the perforated structure on the friction block can both trap and expel the wear debris.

Efficient overall photosynthesis of H_(2)O_(2) by the BTz@Mn_(0.2)Cd_(0.8)S S-scheme heterojunction

The photosynthesis of hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2))through the selective 2e^(-)oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)from O_(2)and H_(2)O stands out as an environmentally sustainable and cost-effective method for generating this essential ***,the widespread application of most photocatalysts is impeded by their reliance on sacrificial *** this context,we present a noteworthy advancement in the form of a step-scheme(S-scheme)heterojunction involving a donor-acceptor(D-A)-conjugated polymer and manganese cadmium sulfide(BTz@MCS).This innovative configuration enables efficient photocatalytic H_(2)O_(2)production within a non-sacrificial system,showcasing an impressive H_(2)O_(2)yield of 5,368μmol g^(-1)h^(-1)and an apparent quantum yield of 4.5%at 420 *** insights gained from in-situ irradiated X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(ISIXPS),in-situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transformations spectroscopy(DRIFTS),and density function calculations(DFT),it is revealed that the sp^(2)C between thiazole-thiazole rings at the BTz and the concentrated holes at the MCS function as spatially separated redox *** centers catalyze the selective 2e^(-)ORR and 4e^(-)water oxidation reaction(WOR)*** O_(2)generated from the WOR is subsequently utilized by the ORR cycle,enabling the overall photosynthesis of H_(2)O_(2)with accelerated total reaction ***,the high photocatalytic performance of the developed catalyst is attributed to well-designed S-scheme heterojunctions with tuned band *** spatially separated redox centers and effective transfer of photogenerated charge carriers facilitated by the internal electric field significantly enhance reaction *** study introduces a promising avenue for photocatalytic H_(2)O_(2)production without sacrificial agents,providing valuable insights into the underlying mechanisms in S-scheme heterojunctions.

Two-Layer Attention Feature Pyramid Network for Small Object Detection

Effective small object detection is crucial in various applications including urban intelligent transportation and pedestrian ***,small objects are difficult to detect accurately because they contain less *** current methods,particularly those based on Feature Pyramid Network(FPN),address this challenge by leveraging multi-scale feature ***,existing FPN-based methods often suffer from inadequate feature fusion due to varying resolutions across different layers,leading to suboptimal small object *** address this problem,we propose the Two-layerAttention Feature Pyramid Network(TA-FPN),featuring two key modules:the Two-layer Attention Module(TAM)and the Small Object Detail Enhancement Module(SODEM).TAM uses the attention module to make the network more focused on the semantic information of the object and fuse it to the lower layer,so that each layer contains similar semantic information,to alleviate the problem of small object information being submerged due to semantic gaps between different *** the same time,SODEM is introduced to strengthen the local features of the object,suppress background noise,enhance the information details of the small object,and fuse the enhanced features to other feature layers to ensure that each layer is rich in small object information,to improve small object detection *** extensive experiments on challenging datasets such as Microsoft Common Objects inContext(MSCOCO)and Pattern Analysis Statistical Modelling and Computational Learning,Visual Object Classes(PASCAL VOC)demonstrate the validity of the *** results show a significant improvement in small object detection accuracy compared to state-of-theart detectors.

Sticked-Layer Strategy to a Flexible-Robust Hydrogen-Bonded Organic Framework for Efficient C_(2)H_(2)/CO_(2)Separation

Flexible-robust hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks(HOFs)are attracting increasing interest due to their excellent separation performance for important industrial gases,but the construction remains ***,a sticked-layer strategy is first proposed to construct a flexible-robust HOF,HOFFJU-8,from a donor(D)–π–acceptor(A)molecule 4,4′,4″,4‴-(pyrrolo[3,2-b]pyrrole-1,2,4,5-tetrayl)tetrabenzonitrile(DP-4CN).HOF-FJU-8 is amicroporous three-dimensional framework composed of two kinds of DP-4CN molecules,one acting as building units for the two-dimensional layer via C≡N···H–C hydrogen bond dimers and another as the sticks to link the layers along channels through D–Aπ···π*** activated framework HOF-FJU-8a possesses flexible-robust pore characteristics,as determined by the gas adsorption and in situ gas-loaded powder X-ray ***-FJU-8a exhibits adaptive adsorption and stronger binding affinity to C_(2)H_(2)rather than CO_(2)due to the flexible-robust nature,which can effectively separate acetylene and carbon dioxide mixtures.

Effects of different orthokeratology lens designs on slowing axial length elongation in children with myopia

AIM:To elucidate whether differences exist in the impact on retarding the elongation of axial length(AL)among children with myopia when utilizing orthokeratology(ortho-k)lenses employing the corneal refractive therapy(CRT)design versus those employing the vision shaping treatment(VST)***:This retrospective clinical trial aimed to collect and analyze AL data from individuals who wore ortho-k lenses for three years.A total of 654 subjects were enrolled and prescribed one of the three specific brands of ortho-k lenses:CRT,Euclid,and *** study’s primary focus was to compare the rates of AL elongation and myopic progression across these three brands of ortho-k ***:In the 3-year follow-up,the AL elongation exhibited variations of 0.73±0.36 mm in the CRT lens group,0.59±0.37 mm in the Euclid lens group,and 0.63±0.38 mm in the Mouldway lens group.A noteworthy disparity emerged between the CRT and Mouldway groups(P<0.01),as well as between the CRT and Euclid groups(P<0.001).Additionally,it was observed that 32.1%of participants who wore CRT lenses experienced a decelerated progression of myopia,in contrast to 47.2%in the Euclid group and 44.4%in the Mouldway *** analyses revealed a statistically significant distinction between the CRT and Euclid groups(P<0.01),and similarly,the CRT group demonstrated a statistically significant difference when compared to the Mouldway group(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:Ortho-k lenses represent a pragmatic strategy for mitigating the advancement of *** contradistinction to ortho-k lenses utilizing the CRT design,those employing the VST design exhibited a more favorable impact regarding retarding AL elongation.

Construction of daily precipitation series and the observational characteristics of extreme precipitation in Tianjin,China during 1888-2022

Given the difficulties in rescuing and ensuring the quality of long-term climate data,current studies on century-scale climate change are usually limited to annual and monthly data,resulting in the poor detection of extreme climate events and their changes before *** this study,we reconstructed a daily precipitation series for Tianjin from 15 September 1887 to 31 December 2022 on the basis of the most comprehensive daily precipitation records collected from the Tianjin Meteorological Archive,China,and in reference to the precipitation analysis results based on the datasets developed by the Climatic Research Unit Time-Series version 4.06,Global Precipitation Climatology Centre and University of Delaware along with the application of various homogenisation methods for climate *** approach provides a complete and reliable century-long daily precipitation series for the study of regional or local extreme weather and climate *** reconstructed daily dataset reveals that the annual precipitation amount and R95 intensity in Tianjin during 1888-2022 lack significant trends and have values of 0.74±6.99 and-1.84±3.22 mm per decade,*** the annual and seasonal scales,the precipitation amount and R95 intensity,particularly those in autumn,have increased since the latter half of the 20th century relative to those in ***,the increase in precipitation amount and R95 intensity is relatively limited compared with that in atmospheric water vapour content due to surface warming,indicating the highly sensitive response of extreme precipitation events to *** addition,the estimates for the return periods of 5,10,20,50 and 100 years covering 1888-2022,1888-1950 and 1951-2022 depict that the intensity of heavy rain and above magnitude was highest in 1888-1950 and decreased in 1951-2022.

Li_(7)La_(3)Zr_(2)O_(12)(LLZO)is considered as a promising solid-state electrolyte due to its high ionic conductivity,wide electrochemical window,and excellent electrochemical ***,its application in solid-state lithium metal batteries(SSLMBs)is impeded by the growth of lithium dendrites in LLZO due to some reasons such as its high electronic *** this study,lithium fluoride(LiF)was introduced into Ta-doped LLZO(LLZTO)to modify its grain boundaries to enhance the performance of SSLMBs.A nanoscale LiF layer was uniformly coated on the LLZTO grains,creating a threedimensional continuous electron-blocking network at the grain *** from the electronic insulator LiF and the special structure of the modified LLZTO,the symmetric cells based on LLZO achieved a high critical current density(CCD)of 1.1 mA·cm^(-2)(in capacity-constant mode)and maintained stability over 2000 h at 0.3 mA·cm^(-2).Moreover,the full cells combined with a LiFePO_(4)(LFP)cathode,demonstrated excellent cycling performance,retaining 97.1% of capacity retention after 500 cycles at 0.5 ***,this work provides a facile and effective approach for preparing a modified electrolyte suitable for high-performance SSLMBs.
