Genetic diversity and population genetic structure of Paeonia suffruticosa by chloroplast DNA simple sequence repeats(cpSSRs)

Paeonia suffruticosa *** an endemic shrub flower in China with 2n=*** study used 228 cultivars from four populations,i.e.,Jiangnan,Japan,Northwest,and Zhongyuan,as materials to explore the genetic diversity levels among different populations of tree peony *** results showed that 34 bands were amplified using five pairs of cp SSR primers,with an average of 6.8 bands per primer *** average number of different alleles(N_(a)),effective alleles(N_(e)),Shannon's information index(I),diversity(H),and polymorphic information content(PIC)were 3.600,2.053,0.708,0.433,and 0.388,*** PIC value was between 0.250 and 0.500,indicating a moderate level of polymorphism for the five cp SSR primer *** genetic diversity levels of peony cultivars varied among different populations,with the Northwest population showing relatively lower levels(I=0.590,H=0.289,and PIC=0.263).A total of 52 haplotypes were identified in the four examined populations,and the number of haplotypes per population ranged from 11 to ***-four private haplotypes were detected across populations,and the Northwest population exhibiting the highest count of private haplotypes with *** mean number of effective number of haplotypes(N_(eh)),haplotypic richness(R_(h)),and diversity(H)were 8.351,6.824,and 0.893,*** of molecular variance indicated that genetic variation within tree peony germplasm was greater than that between germplasm resources,and the main variation was found within individuals of peony *** analysis,principal coordinate analysis,and genetic structure analysis classified tree peonies from different origins into two groups,indicating a certain degree of genetic differentiation among these four tree peony cultivation *** study provides a theoretical basis for the exploration,utilization,and conservation of peony germplasm resources,as well as for research on the breeding of excellent varieties.

The cGAS–STING pathway plays an important role in ischemia-reperfusion injury in the heart,liver,brain,and kidney,but its role and mechanisms in cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury have not been systematically ***,we outline the components of the cGAS–STING pathway and then analyze its role in autophagy,ferroptosis,cellular pyroptosis,disequilibrium of calcium homeostasis,inflammatory responses,disruption of the blood–brain barrier,microglia transformation,and complement system activation following cerebral ischemia-reperfusion *** further analyze the value of cGAS–STING pathway inhibitors in the treatment of cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury and conclude that the pathway can regulate cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury through multiple *** of the cGAS–STING pathway may be helpful in the treatment of cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury.

P-arsanilic acid(AA)has received widespread attention because of its conversion to more toxic inorganic arsenic compounds(arsenate and arsenite)in the natural *** removal process and mechanisms with co-existence of microplastics remain *** this study,biochar loaded with nano zero-valent iron(nZVI)particles(ISBC)was prepared by using iron scrap obtained from a steel works and wood chips collected from a wood processing *** advanced oxidation system of sodium persulfate(PDS)activated by ISBC was applied for AA degradation and inorganic arsenic control in aqueous *** than 99%of the AA was completely degraded by the ISBC/PDS system,and the As(III)on AA was almost completely oxidized to As(V)and finally removed by ***_(3)−inhibited the removal of AA by the ISBC/PDS system,while Cl^(−)had a dual effect that showing inhibition at low concentrations yet promotion at high *** effect of microplastics on the degradation of AA by the ISBC/PDS system was further investigated due to the potential for combined microplastic and organic arsenic contamination in rural/remote *** were found to have little effect on AA degradation in the ISBC/PDS system,while affect the transport of inorganic arsenic generated from AA ***,this study provides new insights and methods for efficient removal of p-arsanilic acid from water with coexisting microplastics.

Power synchronization: taming massive diversified serverless functions under power constraints

Carbon neutrality has become an important design objective worldwide. However, the on-going shift to cloud-naive era does not necessarily mean energy efficiency. From the perspective of power management, co-hosted serverless functions are difficult to tame. They are lightweight, short-lived applications sensitive to power capping activities. In addition, they exhibit great individual and temporal variability, presenting idiosyncratic performance/power scaling goals that are often at odds with one another. To date, very few proposals exist in terms of tailored power management for serverless platforms. In this work, we introduce power synchronization, a novel yet generic mechanism for managing serverless functions in a power-efficient way. Our insight with power synchronization is that uniform application power behavior enables consistent and uncompromised function operation on shared host machines. We also propose PowerSync, a synchronization-based power management framework that ensures optimal efficiency based on a clear understanding of functions. Our evaluation shows that PowerSync can improve the energy efficiency of functions by up to 16% without performance loss compared to conventional power management strategies.

During the initial impoundment period of a canyon-shaped reservoir,the water body fluctuated violently regarding water level,hydrological condition,and thermal *** variations may alter the structure of phytoplankton community,resulting in algal blooms and seriously threatening the ecological security of the *** is of great significance to understand the continuous changes of phytoplankton in the initial impoundment period for the protection of reservoir water ***,a two-year in-situ monitoring study was conducted on water quality and phytoplankton in a representative canyonshaped reservoir named Sanhekou and the interannual changes of phytoplankton community and its response to environmental changes during the initial impoundment period were discussed at taxonomic versus functional classification *** results showed that the total nitrogen and permanganate index levels were relatively high in the first year due to rapid water storage and heavy rainfall input,and the more stable hydrological conditions in the second year promoted the increase of algae density and the transformation of community,and the proportion of cyanobacteria increased *** succession order of phytoplankton in the first year of the initial impoundment periodwas Chlorophyta-Bacillariophyta-Chlorophyta,or J/F/X1-P/MP/W1-A/X1/MP,*** the succession order in the second year was Cyanobacteria/Chlorophyta-Bacillariophyta-Chlorophyta,or L_(M)/G/P-P/A/X1-X1/J/*** temperature,relativewater column stability,mixing depth,and pHwere crucial factors affecting phytoplankton community *** study revealed the interannual succession law and driving factors of phytoplankton in the initial impoundment period and provided an important reference for the operation management and ecological protection of canyon-shaped reservoirs.

Aqueous zinc-ion batteries(AZIBs)are regarded as one of the most promising rivals in the upcoming high-energy secondary battery market because of their safety and ***,the zinc dendrites growth and hydrogen evolution corrosion of the Zn anode have seriously restricted the application of ***,to overcome these constraints,a three-dimensional(3D)porous PFA-COOH-CNT artificial solid electrolyte interface(SEl)film with high hydrophobic and zincophilic properties was constructed on Zn anode surface by in-situ polymerization of furfuryl alcohol(FA)and carboxyl carbon nanotubes(COOH-CNT).A series of in-situ,ex-situ characterizations as well as the density functional theory(DFT)calculations reveal that the formed PFA-COOH-CNT SEI film with an abundant oxygen-containing group can provide abundant zincophilic sites and induce homogeneous deposition of Zn^(2+),as well as the hydrophobic alkyl and carbon skeleton in PFA-COOH-CNT SEI film can isolate the direct contact of H_(2)O with Zn anode,and inhibit the occurrence of hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).Accordingly,the Zn anode with PFA-COOH-CNT layer can attain an ultra-long cycle life of 2200 h at 1 mA·cm^(-2),1 mAh·cm^(-2).Simultaneously,the assembled PFA-COOH-CNT@ZnllV2Os full cell can also achieve a high reversible capacity of up to 150.2 mAh•g^(-1) at 1 A·g^(-1) after 400 cycles,with a high average coulombic efficiency(CE)of 98.8%.The designed PFA-COOH-CNT artificial SEI film provides a broad prospect for highly stable zinc anode,and can also be extended to other energy storage systems based on metal anodes.

Experimental research into the hydraulic conductivity curve (HCC) of unsaturated soil is limited due to the inherent challenge associated with labor, cost, and time. Typically, the HCC is estimated using the soil water characteristic curve (SWCC) based models and saturated hydraulic conductivity (SHC). However, the efficiency of the SWCC-based model is rarely assessed, and the influence of soil density and pore structure on HCC remains incomplete due to limited experimental data. To address this gap, this study employs an innovative filter-paper-based column method, which can measure the HCC over a wide suction range (e.g. 0−105 kPa), to capture the HCCs of both intact and compacted specimens with varying dry densities. The efficiency of two typical SWCC-based models is assessed using the measured data. Meanwhile, the mercury intrusion porosity (MIP) technique is employed to obtain the pore characteristic (i.e. pore size distribution (PSD)) and a method of predicting the HCC using the PSD data is proposed, emphasizing the dominant role of the pore structure in shaping the HCC. The results reveal that the dry density's influence on the HCC is primarily observed within the low suction range, corresponding to variations in the dominant and large pores. In the high suction range, the HCCs align along a linear trajectory when plotted in a log-log format. A notable finding is the overestimation of the HCC obtained from the SWCC-based models using the measured SHC. When the SHC is regarded as a fitting parameter, good agreement is achieved. The adjusted SHC value is typically 0-1 order of magnitude lower than the measured value, and this discrepancy diminishes as dry density increases. On the other hand, the proposed PSD-based model performs well with the measured SHC data. Caution is exercised when using the SHC to estimate the HCC for modeling water movement in partially saturated soil.
