The dynamic soil-structure interaction of a shear wall embedded in elastic isotropic and homogeneous soil layers underlain by bedrock,subjected to SH waves,is modeled in the present *** soil layers consist of irregular interfaces and it has been shown that the scattering due to the roughness of the layers has significant effect on the displacement of both the foundation and the shear *** demonstrate the phenomena indirect boundary element method(IBEM)has been used on the basis of its validation in previous problems of similar *** system response is compared with the analytical solution of the same type of model for vertically propagating incident SH *** is observed that for the low frequency of wave,displacement is abruptly high,and as a result the combination of shear wall and foundation perceives *** thickness of the soil layer,mass of the shear wall,stiffness of the bedrock and the soil layers all affects the system frequency and displacement.

Angiotensin-converting enzyme(ACE)inhibitors are antihypertensive medications often used in the treatment of diabetes-related *** ACE inhibitors are known to cause serious side effects like hypotension,renal insufficiency,and ***,there has been an intensifying search for natural ACE *** plants or plant-based extracts are known to possess ACEinhibitory *** this review,articles focusing on the natural ACE inhibitors extracted from plants were retrieved from databases like Google Scholar,Pub Med,Scopus,and Web of *** have found more than 50 plant species with ACE-inhibitory *** them,Angelica keiskei,Momordica charantia,Muntingia calabura,Prunus domestica,and Peperomia pellucida were the most potent,showing comparatively lower half-maximal inhibitory concentration *** the bioactive metabolites,peptides(e.g.,Tyr-Glu-Pro,Met-Arg-Trp,and Gln-Phe-Tyr-Ala-Val),phenolics(e.g.,cyanidin-3-Osambubioside and delphinidin-3-O-sambubioside),flavonoids([-]-epicatechin,astilbin,and eupatorin),terpenoids(ursolic acid and oleanolic acid)and alkaloids(berberine and harmaline)isolated from several plant and fungus species were found to possess significant ACE-inhibitory *** were also known to possess promising antioxidant,antidiabetic,antihyperlipidemic and anti-inflammatory *** the minimal side effects and lower toxicity of herbal compounds,development of antihypertensive drugs from these plant extracts or phytocompounds for the treatment of diabetesassociated complications is an important *** review,therefore,focuses on the ACE inhibitors extracted from different plant sources,their possible mechanisms of action,present status,and any safety concerns.

A three Higgs-doublet model exhibiting S_(3)-symmetry can predict the observed pattern of quark masses and their mixings. However, the same symmetry also introduces potential flavor-changing neutral currents(FCNCs)at the tree level. In this study, we assume that the scalar potential contains appropriate soft S_(3)-breaking terms to maintain flexible choices of scalar masses. We identify the parameters in the Yukawa Lagrangian of the quark sector responsible for such FCNCs and constrain them using data from flavor physics observables, such as meson-decays and meson-mixings. We also validate the corresponding model parameter space via renormalization group evaluation.

Plant-to-plant direct competition for belowground resource in an overlapping depletion zone

In response to limited availability of soil resources in basal root zone, plant extends its roots into nearby resource-rich zones to fulfill essential resource demands for survival and reproduction. This root proliferation into that enriched zones occupied by other plants constitutes interplant overlapping rooting zones and thereby the overlapping depletion zones, causing reduction in resource uptake by neighboring plants. By incorporating this mechanism into the classic resource competition model, we study interplant direct competition through their rooting system in an overlapping depletion zone. The model results indicate an extension of Tilman’s R* rule that has already been proved true when plants compete indirectly through their effect on shared resources. The results reveal that plant’s direct competitive ability (i.e., the ability to occupy an overlapping depletion zone by excluding others) can be characterized by its R*-value, where a best competitor having lowest R*-value excludes others from an overlapping zone and occupies the zone by depleting the resource level to the lowest as in its non-overlapping depletion zone. By analyzing the model, we find a suite of traits that confers R* variation among directly competing plants. This suite of traits would be a useful proxy measure for R* that do not necessarily require to establish equilibrium field monoculture—a requirement for R* measurement in the field.

The present work deals with the calculation of transition probability between two diabatic potentials coupled by any arbitrary coupling. The method presented in this work is applicable to any type of coupling while for numerical calculations we have assumed the arbitrary coupling as Gaussian coupling. This arbitrary coupling is expressed as a collection of Dirac delta functions and by the use of the transfer matrix technique the transition probability from one diabatic potential to another diabatic potential is calculated. We examine our approach by considering the case of two constant potentials coupled by Gaussian coupling as an arbitrary coupling.

The Cretaceous(Albian-Cenomanian) Dalmiapuram Formation is one of the economically significant constituents in the hydrocarbon-producing Cauvery rift basin, SE India that opened up during the Late Jurassic e Early Cretaceous Gondwanaland fragmentation. The fossil-rich Dalmiapuram Formation,exposed at Ariyalur within the Pondicherry sub-basin of Cauvery Basin, rests in most places directly on the Archean basement and locally on the Lower Cretaceous(Barremian-Aptian) Basal Siliciclastic Formation. In the Dalmiapuram Formation, a facies association of tectonically-disturbed phase is sandwiched between two drastically quieter phases. The early syn-rift facies association(FA 1), records the first carbonate marine transgression within the basin, comprising a bar-lagoon system with occasionally storms affecting along the shore and a sheet-like non-recurrent biomicritic limestone bed on the shallow shelf that laterally grades into pyrite e glauconite-bearing dark-colored shale in the deeper shelf. Spectacular breccias together with varied kinds of mass-flow products comprise the syn-rift facies association(FA 2). While the breccias occur at the basin margin area, the latter extend in the deeper inland sea. Clast composition of the coarse clastics includes large, even block-sized limestone fragments and small fragments of granite and sandstone from the *** beds of quieter intervals between tectonic pulses occur in alternation with them. Faulted basal contact of the formation, and small grabens filled by multiple mass-flow packages bear the clear signature of the syntectonic activity localized contortions, slump folds, and pillow beds associated with mega slump/slide planes and joints, which corroborates this contention further. This phase of tectonic intervention is followed by another relatively quieter phase and accommodates the late syn-rift facies association(FA 3). The present study aimed to investigate the hypolipidemic,antioxidant and cardiac risk-suppressing effects of Chakhao poireiton(CP),a GI-tagged pigmented black rice from *** vitro and ex vivo studies confirmed that whole rice extracts of CP have potent antioxidant,3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase,cholesterol esterase inhibitory,and antilipase *** in vivo study was conducted to evaluate the effects of the ethanol extracts of CP on high-fat high-sugar induced hyperlipidemic *** ethanol extract significantly ameliorated lipid parameters and liver enzymes to *** of lactate dehydrogenase,creatine kinase-N-acetyl cysteine,C-reactive protein,and lipoprotein a were significantly lower in the extract-treated groups than those in the disease control group.A marked reduction of ApoB/ApoA1 and other atherogenic indices were observed in extract-treated *** phenolic compounds,*** acid,gallic acid,protocatechuic acid etc.,were quantified in *** study provided the first evidence of the antihyperlipidemic and cardiac risk inhibitory effects of CP,which would be beneficial in preventing and managing hyperlipidemia,associated oxidative stress,and cardiac complications.

Previous studies have shown that the CC chemokine receptor CCR5 is downregulated on monocyte/macrophage(MO/Mw)surfaces in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma(HNSCC)patients(stage IIIB).Ligands(RANTES,MIP-1a and MIP-1b)of this chemokine receptor were also secreted in lesser quantity from MO/Mw of HNSCC patients in comparison with healthy *** an aim to restore this dysregulated receptor–ligand signaling,we have used neem leaf glycoprotein(NLGP),a novel immunomodulator reported from our *** upregulated CCR5 expression,as evidenced from studies on MO/Mw of peripheral blood from HNSCC patients as well as healthy *** of RANTES,MIP-1a and MIP-1b was also upregulated following NLGP treatment of these cells in ***,NLGP has little effect on the expression of CCR5 and the ligand RANTES in oral cancer *** restored CCR5 receptor–ligand signaling seen in MO/Mw was reflected in improved CCR5-dependent,p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)-mediated migration of MO/Mw after NLGP treatment to a standard *** also induces better antigen presentation and simultaneous costimulation to effector T cells by MO/Mw by upregulating human leucocyte antigen(HLA)-ABC,CD80 and *** addition,NLGP-treated MO/Mw-primed T cells can effectively lyse tumor cells in *** effects of NLGP on monocyte migration and T cell-mediated oral tumor cell killing were further demonstrated in transwell assays with or without CCR5 *** results suggest a new approach in cancer immunotherapy by modulating dysregulated CCR5 signals from MO/Mw.
