Correl.tion of PSA Density to Prostate Cancer Based on Prostate Vol.me by 3.0 T MRI

Purpose: Prostate specific antigen l.vel. can be normal.zed by the prostate vol.me to give a prostate specific antigen density (PSAd). Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can more accuratel. determine prostate zonal.anatomy and prostate vol.mes compared to transrectal.ul.rasound, and hence may l.ad to more accurate PSAd measurements. Methods: Imaging and pathol.gy of men undergoing prostate MRI from April.2007 to May 2009 were reviewed in this retrospective study. 73 patients were incl.ded for anal.sis, of which 45 had prostate cancer and 28 did not have cancer. Total. transitional.zone, and peripheral.zone val.es were determined by ul.rasound prol.te el.ipse, MRI prol.te el.ipse, and MRI segmentation methods. Resul.s: The study popul.tion showed an average PSA of 6.3 ng/ml. with the control.mean PSA (8.8 ng/ml. being greater than the cancer group (5.3 ng/ml.. Transrectal.ul.rasound underestimated the prostate vol.me (mean 27.7 ml.versus MRI vol.me of 38.3 ml. p ≤ 0.001). No difference was seen between cancer and control.popul.tions using PSAd. PSAd correctl. categorized l.w (Gl.ason l.ason ≥ 7) in patients with mal.gnancy. Concl.sion: Transrectal.ul.rasound underestimates prostate vol.mes and hence is inaccurate in cal.ul.ting PSAd. MRI more accuratel. depicts PSAd, however PSAd is unabl. to differentiate between patients with cancer and benign disease such as BPH or prostatitis.

The presence of ecl.gites within continental.crust is a key indicator of col.isional.*** within the Eastern Gl.nel. basement inl.er of the Northern Highl.nd Terrane(NHT)have been redated in order to provide more accurate constraints on the timing of col.ision within the northern arm of the Grenvil.e *** ecl.gites yiel. dates of ca.1200 Ma which are interpreted to record the onset of continent–continent interaction,and the NHT as a whol. is thought to represent the l.wer pl.te in successive 1200–1000 Ma col.ision *** Eastern Gl.nel. basement inl.er is viewed as a fragment of the l.ading edge of the NHT continental.basement that was partial.y subducted al.ng a suture and then exhumed back up the subduction *** in ages of igneous protol.ths and intrusive histories,and metamorphic events(this paper)between the NHT basement and the l.urentian forel.nd,suggests that they were separate crustal.bl.cks until.after ca.1600 *** therefore suggest that:(1)the NHT represents a fragment of Archean–Pal.oproterozoic crust that was reworked within the ca.1.7–1.6 Ga l.bradorian-Gothian bel.,al.hough whether it was derived from l.urentia or Bal.ica is uncertain,and(2)amal.amation of the NHT with the l.urentian forel.nd did not occur until.the terminal.stages of the Grenvil.e col.ision at ca.1000 Ma.

Bil.ary mucocel.s after deceased donor l.ver transpl.ntation are a rarity,and mucocel.s mimicking a gal.bl.dder from the recipient remnant cystic duct have not been described until.this *** describe a 48-year-ol. mal. who presented with right upper quadrant pain and was found to have a recipient cystic duct mucocel. 3 mo after receiving a deceased donor l.ver *** describe the cl.nical.presentation,l.boratory and imaging findings(incl.ding the appearance of a gal.bl.dder),mul.idiscipl.nary approach and surgical.resol.tion of this mucocel. originating from the recipient cystic duct,and a review of the l.terature.
