1)Background:The common factors which potentially contribute to the development of eating disorders and exercise dependence during early adulthood are still relatively *** present study aimed to examine the role of BMI,body image inflexibility,and generalized anxiety in these two behavioral problems in a sample of college students.2)Methods:In total,878 habitual exercisers(58.1%male with BMI=22.12±2.39;41.9%female with BMI=20.55±2.21)with age of 20.09±1.76 years participated in this *** main outcomes of interest are exercise dependence symptoms,eating disorders symptoms,body image inflexibility,and symptoms of generalized anxiety(as measured by exercise Dependence Scale-Revised,eating Disorder examination-Questionnaire-Short Form,Body Image Acceptance and Action Questionnaire,and Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7,respectively).Pearson correlation,path analysis,and model fit information were tested.3)Results:After controlling for age,gender,and field of study,lower BMI was linked to more exercise dependence symptoms but this association was not statistically significant,while a greater BMI was significantly associated with a higher risk of developing eating disorders(β=−0.08,peover,higher body image inflexibility significantly and positively contributed to severe exercise dependence(β=0.26,pell as abnormal eating attitudes and behaviors(β=0.74,permore,generalized anxiety is a significant contributor to exercise dependence symptoms(β=0.14,peating disorders symptoms.4)Conclusion:Based on our finding that body image inflexibility is a common risk factor for the development of exercise dependence and eating disorders,the prevention and treatment of these two disorders should involve the improvement of psychological *** addition,the individual with a higher BMI is more vulnerable to developing eating disorders,while those who have severer generalized anxiety symptoms should be given more attention whe

A>500-km-long east-west trending metamorphic belt in the Qiangtang terrane of central Tibet consists of tectonic melange that occurs in the footwalls of Late Triassic-early Jurassic domal low-angle normal *** melange is comprised of a strongly deformed matrix of metasedimentary and mafic schists that encloses lesser-deformed blocks of metabasites,Carboniferous-Triassic metasedimentary rocks,and early Paleozoic *** the blocks and melange matrix exhibit greenschist,epidote-blueschist, and locally,epidote-amphibolite facies mineral *** reveals that the metamorphic belt experienced pressures of>10 *** equilibration temperatures for mafic schists in the melange matrix decrease from east to west,from～660℃near Shuang Hu(33°N,89°e),～500℃near Rongma(33°N,87°e),to～425℃near Gangma Co(34°N,84°e).equilibration at consistently high pressures over a large range of temperatures is compatible with metamorphism of Qiangtang melange within a low-angle subduction zone beneath a continental *** structural, thermobarometric,and Ar/39)Ar studies suggest that Qiangtang melange was exhumed in an intracontinental setting from depths of>35 km to upper crustal levels ine Triassic-early Jurassic crustal-scale normal *** zircons from metasandstones within the melange matrix yield U-Pb ion-microprobe ages that range from early Paleozoic to early Archean,and could have been sourced from terranes to the north of the Jinsha *** results support a model in which Qiangtang melange was underthrust～200 km beneath the Qiangtang terrane during early Mesozoic flat-slab southward subduction of Paleo-Tethyan oceanic lithosphere along the Jinsha *** model predicts that significant portions of the central Tibetan continental mantle lithosphere were removed during early Mesozoic low-angle oceanic subduction and that the present-day central Tibetan deeper crust includes large volumes of underthrust early Mesozoic

effects of Weight Loss on Pericardial Fat and Left Ventricular Mass Assessed with Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Morbid Obesity

Background: Obesity is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease and mortality. Significant weight loss has beneficial effects on left ventricular structure, in particular on regression of left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH). We therefore evaluated the consequences of significant weight loss on left ventricular morphology, hemodynamics and pericardial fat. Methods: We performed volumetric cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging before and after significant weight loss due to laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding (LAGB). CMR was used to measure cardiac mass, volume and function, as well as to quantify pericardial fat. Results: eleven patients (age 40.5 ± 10 yrs, body mass index 42.5 ± 3.9 kg/m2) underwent CMR imaging before and a median 15.4 months after gastric banding. The BMI declined by 9.3 ± 3.3 kg/m2 (p Discussion: Significant weight loss in obesity is accompanied by a marked regression of LVH, with no apparent change in cardiac volume or function. The local effect of a diminished amount of pericardiac fat tissue may be more important than absolute weight loss with respect to the regression of LVH in obesity.

BACKGROUND The trans-fat containing AMLN(amylin liver non-alcoholic steatohepatitis,NASH)diet has been extensively validated in C57BL/6J mice with or without the Lep^ob/Lep^ob(ob/ob)mutation in the leptin gene for reliably inducing metabolic and liver histopathological changes recapitulating hallmarks of *** to a recent ban on trans-fats as food additive,there is a marked need for developing a new diet capable of promoting a compatible level of disease in ob/ob and C57BL/6J *** To develop a biopsy-confirmed mouse model of NASH based on an obesogenic diet with trans-fat substituted by saturated *** Male ob/ob mice were fed AMLN diet or a modified AMLN diet with trans-fat(Primex shortening)substituted by equivalent amounts of palm oil[Gubra amylin NASH,(GAN)diet]for 8,12 and 16 wk.C57BL/6J mice were fed the same diets for 28 *** and GAN diets had similar caloric content(40%fat kcal),fructose(22%)and cholesterol(2%)*** The GAN diet was more obesogenic compared to the AMLN diet and impaired glucose ***-confirmed steatosis,lobular inflammation,hepatocyte ballooning,fibrotic liver lesions and hepatic transcriptome changes were similar in ob/ob mice fed the GAN or AMLN diet.C57BL/6J mice developed a mild to moderate fibrotic NASH phenotype when fed the same *** Substitution of Primex with palm oil promotes a similar phenotype of biopsyconfirmed NASH in ob/ob and C57BL/6J mice,making GAN diet-induced obese mouse models suitable for characterizing novel NASH treatments.

Blood velocity and pressure fields in large arteries are greatly influenced by the deformability of the vessel. However, computational methods for modeling blood flow in three dimensional models of arteries have either considered a rigid wall assumption for the vessel [1] or significantly simplified geometries. Computing blood flow in deformable domains using s tandard techniques like the ALe method remains an intractable problem for realistic anatomic and physiologic models. We have developed a new method to model blood flow in three dimensional deformable models of arteries. The method couples the equations of the deformation of the vessel wall at the variational level as a boundary condition for the fluid domain, in an approach analogous to J.R. Womersley's analytical solution for axisymmetric pulsatile flow in a long elastic tube [2]. We consider a strong coupling of the degrees of freedom of the fluid and the solid domains, and a linear membrane model (enhanced with through-plane stiffness) for the vessel wall. We have used the generalized-alpha method [3] to integrate the time evolution of the resulting equations for the deformable system, in a manner similar to that described by Jansen et al. [4].
