Improving Brain Tumor Classification with Deep Learning Using Synthetic Data

A Novel Color Image Watermarking Method with Adaptive Scaling Factor Using Similarity-Based Edge Region

This study aimed to deal with three challenges:robustness,imperceptibility,and capacity in the image watermarking *** reach a high capacity,a novel similarity-based edge detection algorithm was developed that finds more edge points than traditional *** colored watermark image was created by inserting a randomly generated message on the edge points detected by this *** ensure robustness and imperceptibility,watermark and cover images were combined in the high-frequency subbands using Discrete Wavelet Transform and Singular Value *** the watermarking stage,the watermark image was weighted by the adaptive scaling factor calculated by the standard deviation of the similarity *** to the results,the proposed edge-based color image watermarking technique has achieved high payload capacity,imperceptibility,and robustness to all *** addition,the highest performance values were obtained against rotation attack,to which sufficient robustness has not been reached in the related studies.

Influence of acrylamide monomer addition to the acrylic denture-base resins on mechanical and physical properties

The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of adding acrylamide monomer （AAm） on the characterization, flexural strength, flexural modulus and thermal degradation temperature of poly（methyl methacrylate）（PMMA） denture-base resins. Specimens （n= 10） were fabricated from a conventional heat-activated QC-20 （Qc-） and a microwave heat-activated Acron MC （Ac-） PMMA resins. Powder/ liquid ratio followed the manufacturer＇s instructions for the control groups （Qc-c and Ac-c） and for the copolymer groups, the resins were prepared with 5% （-5）, 10% （- 10）, 15% （- 15） and 20% （-20） acrylamide contents, according to the molecular weight ratio, respectively. The flexural strength and flexural modulus were measured by a three-point bending test. The data obtained were statistically analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis test （a=O.05） to determine significant differences between the groups, The chemical structures of the resins were characterized by the nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Thermal stabilities were determined by thermogravimetric analysis （TGA） with a heating rate of 10 ~***-1 from 35 ~C to 600 ~C. Control groups from both acrylic resins showed the lowest flexural strength values. Qc-15 showed significant increase in the flexural strength when compared to Qc-c （P〈O.01）. Ac-10 and Ac-15 showed significance when compared to Ac-c （P〈O.01）. Acrylamide incorporation increased the elastic modulus in Qc-10, Qc-15 and Qc-20 when compared to Qc-c （P〈0.01）. Also significant increase was observed in Ac-10, Ac-15 and Ac-20 copolymer groups when compared to Ac-c （P〈0.01）. According to the 1H-nuclear magnetic resonance （NMR） results, acrylamide copolymerization was confirmed in the experimental groups. TGA results showed that the thermal stability of PMMA is increased by the insertion of AAm.

We report on simultaneous single-pulse observations of PSR J0953+0755 at 732 and 3100 MHz made using the Parkes 64-m radio telescope at two *** non-simultaneous 1369 MHz observation has also been analyzed to compare polarization properties of this pulsar at different *** previously reported lowlevel bridge emission between the interpulse and the main pulse is notably present at 732 ***,the bridge emission becomes very weak or undetectable at higher *** cross-correlation analysis of simultaneous observations indicates that the total intensity of single pulses is highly correlated,which implies the same emission mechanism is responsible for the two *** confirm that the abrupt position angle jumps are non-orthogonal in this pulsar which probably result from the overlapping emission from two non-orthogonal polarization modes and the separation between different polarization modes is *** all three frequencies,the dominant modes are clearly associated with negative values of circular polarization,but the association seems unclear for weak modes.

Cost of illness among patients with diabetic foot ulcer in Turkey

AIM To evaluate the annual cost of patients with Wagner grade 3-4-5 diabetic foot ulcer(DFU) from the public payer's perspective in *** This study was conducted focused on a time frame of one year from the public payer's perspective. Cost-ofillness(COI) methodology, which was developed by the World Health Organization, was used in the generation of cost data. By following a clinical path with the COI method, the main total expenses were reached by multiplying the number of uses of each expense item, the percentage of cases that used them and unit costs. Clinical guidelines and real data specific to Turkey were used in the calculation of the direct costs. Monte Carlo Simulation was used in the study as a sensitivity *** The following were calculated in DFU treatment from the public payer's perspective: The annual average per patient outpatient costs $579.5(4.1%), imaging test costs $283.2(2.0%), laboratory test costs $284.8(2.0%), annual average per patient cost of intervention, rehabilitation and trainings $2291.7(16.0%), annual average per patient cost of drugs used $2545.8(17.8%)and annual average per patient cost of medical materials used in DFU treatment $735.0(5.1%). The average annual per patient cost for hospital admission is $7357.4(51.5%). The average per patient complication cost for DFU is $210.3(1.5%). The average annual per patient cost of DFU treatment in Turkey is $14287.70. As a result of the sensitivity analysis, the standard deviation of the analysis was $5706.60(n = 5000, mean = $14146.8, 95%CI: $13988.6-$14304.9). CONCLUSION The health expenses per person are $-PPP 1045 in 2014 in Turkey and the average annual per patient cost for DFU is 14-fold of said amount. The total health expense in 2014 in Turkey is $-PPP 80.3 billion and the total DFU cost has a 3% share in the total annual health expenses for Turkey. Leptin levels in the differential diagnosis between benign and malignant ascites

AIM： To evaluate the role of leptin levels in the differentia diagnosis of ascites. METHODS： Ascitic leptin, TNFα and serum leptin levels were measured in 77 patients with ascites （35 with malignancies, 30 cirrhosis and 12 tuberculosis）. Control serum samples were obtained from 20 healthy subjects. Leptin and TNFα levels were measured by EUSA. Body mass index （BMI） and percentage of body fat （BFM） by skin fold measurement were calculated for all patients and control groups. Peritoneal biopsy, ascites cytology and cultures or biochemical values were used for the diagnosis of patients. RESULTS： In patients with malignancies, the mean serum and ascites leptin levels and their ratios were significantly decreased compared to the other patient groups and controls. In tuberculosis peritonitis, ascitic fluid TNFα levels were significantly higher than malignant ascites and cirrhotic sterile ascites. BMI and BFM values did not distinguish between patients and controls. CONCLUSION： In patients with malignant ascites, levels of leptin and TNFα were significantly lower than in patients with tuberculous ascites.

Continuing Value Calculation with Discounted Cash Flows Method： An Application Example for Tekart Tourism Establishment Whose Shares Are Dealt in Istanbul Stock Exchange

Valuation is stated as monetary value belonging to firm assets （Verginis ＆ Taylor, 2004）. According to M. L. Rock, R. H. Rock, and Sikora （1994）, valuation is the answer of the following questions： What is the maximum price that will be paid for the firm？ What are the risk areas？ What are the results of cash flows, profitability, and balance-sheet？ Chambers （2005, p. 5）, on the other hand, estimated a probable price that will be paid for the goods and service at a specific time. For the calculation of continuing value （CV）, Verginis and Taylor （2004） used discounted cash flows （DCF） method and Onal, Karadeniz, and Kandlr （2005） used economic profit method. Klrh （2005） suggested Continuous and Constant Growing Model （Gordon Model）, Value Driver Model, and Economic Profit Model. In this study, DCF which is suggested by Onal et al. （2005） and Verginis and Taylor （2004） is used for the aim of determining CV of the firm at issue. In this study, analyses are made by using the financial statement data of a tourism business whose shares are dealt in Istanbul Stock Exchange. In consequence of the calculations, CV of the examined firm is found to be 7,485,402 TL and firm value is found to be 15,195,366 TL.

Comparison of Top down and Bottom up Cost Approaches in Colon and Rectal Cancer Treatment

Introduction: In recent years, health care expenditures have significantly risen across the world and in Turkey. Because of the limited resources allocated to health, it is very important for countries to conduct studies especially on cost of diseases such as colorectal cancer (CRC) with a high burden of disease and labor loss. The aim of this study was to calculate the cost of treatment for colon and rectal cancers based on two different cost approaches from the perspective of SSI (top-down and bottom-up) and to compare the results obtained. Materials and Methods: Data were obtained from the SSI MEDULA System a total of 62,970 colon and rectal cancer patient for the top-down cost approach. In the bottom-up cost approach, treatment costs were determined based on the expert opinions. Results: The average cost of treatment per patient for colon cancer was determined as 3055.5 TL, for rectal cancer was determined as 4146.2 TL with the top-down cost approach. The average cost of treatment per patient for colon cancer was determined as 14,920.4 TL, for rectal cancer was determined as 17,904.6 TL according to the bottom-up cost approach. Conclusion: Since the bottom-up cost approach provides more detailed information on the cost of illness, and thereby on the use of resources allocated to health, it is thought that the combined use of these two cost approaches completes each other’s weaknesses.

Statistical Evaluation of Anthropometric Measures and Oral Health Status in Terms of Diet, Smoking and Brushing Habits

Introduction and Objective: The aim of this research was to find out the interaction of anthropometric measurements particularly body mass and oral health status of Turkish young adult nationals regionally, depending on the effects of diet (food and fluid consumption), smoking and tooth brushing habits, which were determined by using the body mass index (BMI) and dental health index (DMFT). Material and Methods: The BMI and DMFT of 202 cases, with an age average 22.5 years, were recorded through physical and clinical examinations. Statistical evaluation of the data was checked by Cronbach’s Alpha Reliability Scale and performed by analysis of variance, Somer’s d and Pearson Chi-Square statistics, Poisson Regression and Odds Ratio analysis. Results: The results showed that the mean of BMI was at the optimum level (21.52) for all cases. The DMFT was higher for underweight females and for overweight males. The mean of DMFT according to sexes seemingly had no significant difference;however, females had 8.6% more DMFT than males. When the risk factors of dental caries were evaluated, the DMFT was found as 19.3% more for cases consuming high carbohydrate foods, 4.5% more for high beverage consumption and 18% more for smokers. Conclusions: In conclusion, tooth brushing 3 or more times a day is necessary to decrease the DMFT and tooth brushing 3 times a day as opposed to 1 or 2 times shows significant difference regarding oral health.
