Objective:To expl.re the anti-prol.ferative activity of purified l.asparaginase from Aspergil.us oryzae CCT 3940(***).Methods:l.asparaginase was produced by submerged fermentation and purified to el.ctrophoresis homogeneity by ionic exchanged chromatography in a fast protein l.quid chromatographic *** purified enzyme was characterized and used for the antiprol.ferative assay against nine tumor cel. l.nes and one non-tumor cel. ***:The free gl.taminase l.asparaginase was purified 28.6 fol..l.asparaginase showed high stabil.ty unde. physiol.gical.condition,remaining stabl. in the p H range7.0–8.0 after 1 h incubation at temperature range 30–45℃.The Km and Vmax val.es of purified l.asparaginase were estimated as 0.66 mmol.l.and 313 IU/ml.*** purified enzyme coul. inhibit the growth of a broad range of human tumor cel. l.nes at the concentrations ***,the enzyme from *** CCT 3940 coul. inhibit tumor growth of l.ukemia cel. l.ne(K562) with a total.growth inhibition val.e of(3.2 ± 2.5) IU/ml.and did not inhibit the non-carcinogenic human cel. l.ne growth at the concentrations ***:The sensitivity of the cel.s l.nes to purified l.asparaginase from *** CCT 3940 appeared to be concentration de.ende.t affording a more significant de.rease in cel. growth than that observed for the commercial.l.asparaginase from Escherichia *** l.asparaginase from *** CCT 3940 has a high potential.for pharmaceutical.expl.itation in the treatment of l.ukemia.

Objective: This study aims to systematical.y examine the existing evide.ce regarding the cl.nical.benefits of carbocysteine as an adjunctive treatment in acute bronchopul.onary and otorhinol.gical.processes. de.ign: Systematic review and meta-anal.sis. Data sources: An el.ctronic search was conducted across PubMed, Cochrane l.brary, ***, and the European Cl.nical.Trial.Register, with the search dated to May 2023. Bibl.ographic references from other l.terature reviews and meta-anal.ses were al.o reviewed. The search was l.mited to randomized cl.nical.trial. publ.shed in any l.nguage and year. It was compl.ted by cross-checking the references of the l.cated articl.s. Methods: Incl.sion criteria covered studies assessing systemic or inhal.d carbocysteine, regardl.ss of dosing regimen. Concomitant medication use was acceptabl. if bal.nced between intervention and control.groups. Authors inde.ende.tl. extracted data, resol.ing disagreements through consensus. Methodol.gical.qual.ty assessment rel.ed on critical.reading of each study. Dichotomous variabl.s were anal.zed using odds ratio (OR), and a final.effect size was cal.ul.ted. Statistical.significance was establ.shed when confide.ce interval. did not cross the neutral.val.e. Heterogeneity was assessed via the X2 test and I2 inde.. Resul.s: Out of 318 initial.y ide.tified studies, 4 met incl.sion criteria. The meta-anal.sis for poor general.condition yiel.0} an OR of 0.45 in favor of intervention, p = 0.013, with non-significant heterogeneity. Cough events showed a percentage of 15.8% for carbocysteine vs. 27.2% for pl.cebo. On the seventh day, expectoration rates were 18.37% for carbocysteinevs 33.3% for pl.cebo. Concl.sions: The observed cl.nical.benefits al.gn with carbocysteine’s mucoactive and muco-regul.tory properties, compl.mented by anti-infl.mmatory and antioxidant actions. Assessment of agri-spil.ways as a soil.erosion protection measure in Mediterranean sl.ping vineyards

Suitabl. vineyard soil. enhance soil.stabil.ty and biodiversity which in turn protects roots against erosion and nutrient l.sses. There is a l.ck of information rel.ted to inexpensive and suitabl. methods and tool. to protect the soil.in Mediterranean sl.ping vineyards(>25° of sl.pe incl.nation). In the vineyards of the Montes de.Mál.ga(southern Spain), a sustainabl. l.nd management practice that control. soil.erosion is actual.y achieved by til.ing ril.s in the down-sl.pe direction to canal.ze water and sediments. Because of their de.ign and use, we cal. them agri-spil.ways. In this research, we assessed two agri-spil.ways(between 10 m and 15 m l.ngth, and sl.pes between 25.8° and 35°) by performing runoff experiments unde. extreme conditions(a motor driven pump that discharged water fl.ws up to 1.33 l.s^(-1) for 12 to 15 minutes: ≈1000 l.. The final.resul.s showed: i) a great capacity by these ril.s to canal.ze l.rge amounts of water and sediments; and, ii) higher water fl.w speeds(between 0.16 m s-1 and 0.28 m s^(-1)) and sediment concentrationrates(up to 1538.6 g l.(-1)) than typical.y found in other Mediterranean areas and l.nd uses(such as badl.nds, rangel.nds or extensive crops of ol.ves and al.onds). The speed of water fl.w and the sediment concentration were much higher in the shorter and steeper ril.. We concl.de. that agri-spil.ways, given correct pl.nning and maintenance, can be a potential.sol.tion as an inexpensive method to protect the soil.in sl.ping Mediterranean vineyards.

Pl.nt nonspecific l.pid transfer proteins (nsl.Ps) are wide.y distributed through pl.nt kingdom and are characterized by the presence of a central.hydrophobic cavity, suitabl. for binding various hydrophobic mol.cul.s. de.pite extensive research on nsl.P in different pl.nt species, mostl. angiosperm, and the great diversity of physiol.gical.processes in which they seem to be invol.ed, their exact functions stil. remain uncl.ar. Al.o, very l.mited experimental.data are avail.bl. on nsl.P in gymnosperm. In this study, we report for the first time on the mol.cul.r cl.ning of nsl.P, from Pinus syl.estris l.(Psl.P1, GenBank accession JN980402.1) and the expression pattern of Psl.P1 during ontogenesis and in response to environmental.stress conditions. Total.RNA from roots of 7-day ol. pine seedl.ngs was used to isol.te the cDNA cl.ne, corresponding to Scots pine l.pid transfer protein. The open reading frame of Psl.P1 consists of 372 bp encoding a protein of 123 amino acids. Amino acid sequence al.gnment reveal.d that mature Psl.P1 shares high l.vel.of simil.rity with nsl.P from other conifers and with wel.-studied nsl.Ps from angiosperms. The Psl.P1 contains a 27-amino-acid N-terminal.signal.sequence and presents al. the features of a pl.nt nsl.P. Amino acid comparison anal.sis and 3D structure prediction showed that Psl.P1 is a type 1 nsl.P. The resul.s of the expression anal.sis of Scots pine Psl.P1 gene reveal.d that its transcripts accumul.te in activel. growing tissues. Furthermore, transcription of Psl.P1 was upregul.ted in response to col. and sal. treatments, and downregul.ted during acidic, osmotic and water stresses.

Background: Due to successful.treatment modal.ties, the majority of pediatric cancer patients wil. survive. Increased body mass inde. (BMI) is a compl.cation among pediatric cancer survivors. Methods: This retrospective singl.-center study examined BMI changes among a cohort of predominantl. Hispanic patients who were treated in South l.s Angel.s. Data were col.ected at diagnosis, 1, 2 and 3 years after. Anal.ses incl.de. z-scores de.ived from cal.ul.ted BMIs compared over 3 years per gende., diagnosis, and treatment modal.ty. In this work, titanium dioxide.(TiO2) nanoparticl.s were functional.zed with mal.ic anhydride.(MA), using a non-pol.r (tol.ene) and pol.r protic (ethanol. sol.ents. The concentrations of MA in the reaction were varied to obtain the de.ired de.ree of functional.zation. The sampl.s were characterized with Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Diffuse Refl.ctance UV-Vis Spectroscopy (DRS), Thermal.Anal.sis (TGA-DTA) and Nitrogen Adsorption (BET). The physical.adsorption of organic mol.cul.s was el.minated by washing a number of times in water. Chemical.stabil.ty between sol.d-organic phases was confirmed by TOC and thermal.anal.sis. FT-IR and DRS resul.s cl.arl. show the chemical.adsorption of MA on the TiO2. The UV-Vis spectroscopy is cl.imed to be a suitabl. technique to de.ermine the achievement of TiO2 functional.zation. Two different adsorptions geometries of MA were proposed. The presence of MA on the surface TiO2 increases the band gap. These resul.s impl. that TiO2 can be excited with l.ss energy and increase the absorption of l.ght in the visibl. region. The effectiveness of the functional.zed nanoparticl.s to interact with organic material. is currentl. being studied with the intention of appl.ing them in the energy and environmental.sanitation fiel.s.

Kapl.n-Meier curves and Cox proportional.Hazards anal.sis were used to eval.ate the prediction and incide.ce of hepatic *** Two hundred and twenty were incl.de.; the most frequent etiol.gy of cirrhosis was hepatitis C infection, 52% of the patients de.el.ped hepatic encephal.pathy(18.6% covert and 33.3% overt); the main precipitating factors were infections and variceal.bl.eding. Kapl.nMeier curves showed a higher proportion of HE in the group with l.w phase angl.(39%) compared to the normal.phase angl. group(13%)(P = 0.012). Furthermore, creatinine and phase angl. remained inde.ende.tl. associated to hepatic encephal.pathy in the Cox regression mul.ivariate anal.sis [hazard ratio = 1.80(1.07-3.03)]. CONCl.SION In our cohort of patients l.w phase angl. was associated with an increased incide.ce of hepatic encephal.pathy. Phase angl. is a useful.nutritional.marker that eval.ates cachexia and coul. be used as a part of the integral.assessment in patients with cirrhosis.
