Toward a rapid and convenient nanoplastic quantification method in laboratory-scale study based on fluorescence intensity

The thorough investigation of nanoplastics(NPs)in aqueous environments requires efficient and expeditious quantitative analytical methods that are sensitive to environmentally relevant NP concentrations and convenient to *** analysis-based quantitative methods have been acknowledged as effective and rapid approaches for quantifying NP concentrations in laboratory-scale ***,we compared three commonly used optical response indicators,namely fluorescence intensity(FI),ultraviolet absorbance,and turbidity,to assess their performance in quantifying ***,orthogonal experiments were conducted to evaluate the influence of various water quality parameters on the preferred indicator-based quantification *** results revealed that FI exhibits the highest correlation coefficient(>0.99)with NP ***,the limit of quantification(LOQ)for various types of NPs is exceptionally low,ranging from 0.0089 to 0.0584 mg/L in ultrapure water,well below environmentally relevant *** variations in water quality parameters such as pH,salinity,suspended solids(SS),and humic acid,a robust relationship between detectable FI and NP concentration was ***,an increased matrix,especially SS in water samples,results in an enhanced LOQ for ***,the quantitative method remains applicable in real water bodies,especially in drinking water,with NP LOQ as low as 0.0157–0.0711 mg/*** exceeds the previously reported detectable concentration for 100 nm NPs at 40µg/mL using surface-enhanced Raman *** study confirms the potential of FI as a reliable indicator for the rapid quantification of NPs in aqueous environments,offering substantial advantages in terms of both convenience and cost-effectiveness.

Synthesis and characterization of water-soluble PEGylated lignin-based polymers by macromolecular azo coupling reaction

Water-soluble PEG grafted lignin-based polymers （AL-azo-PEG） were efficiently synthesized by macromolecular azo coupling reaction between alkali lignin and PEG based macromolecular diazonium salts in alkaline water. This one-step PEGylation method showed many advantages such as high efficiency, controllable grafting radio, extremely mild conditions and without organic solvents. The prepared AL-azo-PEG polymers were well characterized by using various spectroscopic methods including UV-vis, FTIR and 1H NMR spectra. Experimental results showed that the synthesized polymers had good solubility both in water over a wide pH range （pH 2-12） and in the majority of organic solvents, which helped to easily fabricate self-assembly colloidal particles and nanofibers by vapor diffusion method and electrospinning method, respectively, The azobenzene linkages generated by the macromolecular azo coupling reaction also brought photo-responsive properties to the prepared polymers.

Although chalcogenide anodes possess higher potassium storage capacity than intercalated-based graphite,their drastic volume change and the irreversible electrochemical reactions still hinder the effective electron/ion transfer during the potassiation/depotassiation *** solve the above problems,this article proposes the synthesis of a lamellar nanostructure where graphene nanosheets are embedded with SnSb_(2)Se_(4)nanoparticles(SnSb_(2)Se_(4)/GNS).In the product,fine monodisperse SnSb_(2)Se_(4)nanoparticles are coupled with graphene nanosheets to form a porous network framework,which can effectively mitigate the drastic volume changes during electrode reactions and guarantee efficient potassium-ion storage through the synergistic interactions among multiple *** electrochemical analyses prove that SnSb_(2)Se_(4)inherits the advantages of the binary Sb2Se3 and SnSe while avoiding their disadvantages,confirming the synergistic effect of the ternary–chalcogenide *** tested for potassium storage,the obtained composite delivers a high specific capacity of 368.5 mAh g^(-1)at 100 mA g^(-1)and a stable cycle performance of 265.8 mAh g^(-1)at 500 mA g^(-1)over 500 ***,the potassium iron hexacyanoferrate cathode and the SnSb_(2)Se_(4)/GNS anode are paired to fabricate the potassium-ion full cell,which shows excellent cyclic *** conclusion,this strategy employs atomic doping and interface interaction,which provides new insights for the design of high-rate electrode materials.

The composite bucket foundation (CBF) is a new kind of foundation which has been applied in the offshore wind industry. A reasonable connection pattern between the tower and the CBF top cover is crucial for load transmissions from the superstructure. Therefore, it is essential to choose an optimum structure type for the transition section. The line type and the arc transition section models were established by ABAQUS, and the internal forces of cross section were extracted along the height direction. Specifically, the force transfer mechanism for different types of the transition sections was investigated comparatively with monotonic as well as composite loadings. The results show that the curved transition structure exhibits the better mechanical characteristics under the monotonic and composite loadings, and the reason can be illustrated that its specific arc-shape structure can effectively convert the tremendous bending moment from the turbine tower into the limited tensile and compressive stresses downwards, without the occurrence of force concentration. © 2017, Tianjin University and Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

The anisotropy of suprathermal electrons in the Martian ionosphere

Suprathermal electrons are an important population of the Martian ionosphere, either produced by photoionization of atmospheric neutrals or supplied from the Solar Wind (SW). This study is dedicated to an in-depth investigation of the pitch angle distribution of suprathermal electrons at two representative energies, 19−55 eV and 124−356 eV, using the extensive measurements made by the Solar Wind Electron Analyzer on board the Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution. Throughout the study, we focus on the overall degree of anisotropy, defined as the standard deviation of suprathermal electron intensity among different directions which is normalized by the mean omni-directional intensity. The available data reveal the following characteristics: (1) In general, low energy electrons are more isotropic than high energy electrons, and dayside electrons are more isotropic than nightside electrons;(2) On the dayside, the anisotropy increases with increasing altitude at low energies but remains roughly constant at high energies, whereas on the nightside, the anisotropy decreases with increasing altitude at all energies;(3) Electrons tend to be more isotropic in strongly magnetized regions than in weakly magnetized regions, especially on the nightside. These observations indicate that the anisotropy is a useful diagnostic of suprathermal electron transport, for which the conversion between the parallel and perpendicular momenta as required by the conservation of the first adiabatic invariant, along with the atmospheric absorption at low altitudes, are two crucial factors modulating the observed variation of the anisotropy. Our analysis also highlights the different roles on the observed anisotropy exerted by suprathermal electrons of different origins.

Exploding foil initiator(EFI)is a kind of advanced device for initiating explosives,but its function is unstable when it comes to directly igniting *** solve the problem,this research aims to reveal the ignition mechanism of EFIs directly igniting *** oscilloscope,a photon Doppler velocimetry,and a plasma spectrum measurement system were employed to obtain information of electric characteristics,impact pressure,and plasma *** results of the electric characteristics and the impact pressure were inconsistent with ignition *** only thing that the ignition success tests had in common was that their plasma all had a relatively long period of high-temperature duration(HTD).It eventually concludes that the ignition mechanism in this research is the microconvection heat transfer rather than the shock initiation,which differs from that of exploding foil initiators detonating ***,the methods for evaluating the ignition success of semiconductor bridge initiators are not entirely applicable to the tests mentioned in this *** HTD is the critical parameter for judging the ignition success,and it is influenced by two factors:the late time discharge and the energy of the electric *** longer time of the late time discharge and the more energy of the electric explosion,the easier it is to expand the HTD,which improves the probability of the ignition success.
