Group-based joint signaling and data resource allocation in MTC-underlaid cellular networks

Machine-type communications(MTC) are gaining significant research attention as one of the most promising technologies for the fifth generation(5G) mobile networks. A critical issue handled by MTC is support for massive numbers of connections, which is a growing problem that will become increasingly challenging as MTC share spectrum resources with cellular communication. Here, not only the number of connections but also the data rate requirements of cellular users(CUEs) need to be considered. Given these issues, in this paper, we formulate a group-based joint signaling and data resource optimization model constrained by network resource and data rate requirements in order to maximize the number of connections. We also note that this problem is nonconvex and that obtaining an optimal solution is computationally complex for MTC with massive numbers of users(UEs). Therefore, we decompose the problem into group-based data aggregation and resource allocation subproblems. To solve these two subproblems, we develop an adaptive group head selection algorithm and a joint signaling and data resource allocation algorithm that satisfy both the data rate requirement and resource constraints, respectively. Our simulation results show that our proposed algorithms significantly improve the number of connections when compared with other classic methods. Furthermore, our results reveal that the limiting factor on the number of connections changes with the ratio of the number of MTC UEs to that of CUEs and the ratio of data requirement of MTC UEs to that of CUEs. Finally, we note that our proposed group-based resource allocation algorithm can effectively improve the number of connections, especially when more MTC UEs and a small amount of MTC data are present.

The salt-inclusion materials have drawn significant attention for their manifold structural chemistry and novel physical/chemical ***,two new salt-inclusion chalcohalides,[Cs_(6)Cl][Ga_(5)GeQ_(12)](Q=S,Se),have been discovered via hightemperature flux *** two isostructural compounds are constructed by porous[Ga_(5)GeQ_(12)]^(5−)layers with[ClCs_(6)]^(5+)octahedra filled in the ***[Ga_(5)GeQ_(12)]^(5−)layer is composed of the honeycomb-like(Ga/Ge)_(18)Q_(42)rings containing(Ga/Ge)_(3)Q_(9)trimer as basic *** band gaps of the two compounds are 3.90 and 2.89 eV,respectively.[Cs_(6)Cl][Ga_(5)GeS_(12)]exhibits interesting two-band emission properties which are related to the intermediate-band electronic structure revealed by density functional theory(DFT)*** to the porous layered structure,[Cs_(6)Cl][Ga_(5)GeS_(12)]exhibits topological ion exchange ability towards Cd^(2+)ions with the maximum sorption capacity of 250 mg/g and high distribution coefficient(Kd)near 106 mL/*** work further enriches the structural diversity of salt-inclusion materials and extends their potential application range to ion exchange adsorption.

In the present work, research efforts have focused on investigating codimension two and three Bogdanov-Takens bifurcations of a predator-prey system with additive Allee effect. According to the existence conditions of Bogdanov-Takens bifurcation, we give the associated generic unfolding, and derive the dynamical classification in the perturbation parameter plane using some smooth parameter-dependent transformations of coordinate. Moreover, some numerical examples and simulations are performed to complete and illustrate our results.

Many interacting biomolecular components in cells form different positive or negative feedback loops. When biological signals transduce through cascades consisting of various loops they will be affected or even distorted. Especially, how to process various signals buried in various intrinsic and extrinsic noises is an important issue. This paper analyzes how the response time influences noise filtering ability and how to enhance the ability by coupling different feedback loops. A parameter to measure the response time of the signal transduction, i.e., τ0.9, and its relationship between the response time and noise filtering will be discussed. The authors show clearly that the longer the response time is, the better the ability to filter noises will be. Therefore, to enhance the ability to filter noises, the authors can prolong the response time by coupling different positive or negative feedback loops. The results provide a possible approach to enhance the ability to filter noises in larger biomolecular networks.

Plasma-enabled synthesis of ordered PtFe alloy nanoparticles encapsulated with ultrathin N-doped carbon shells for efficient methanol electrooxidation

Methanol oxidation reaction(MOR),the key reaction for clean energy generation in fuel cells,is kinetically sluggish and short-lasting because of insufficient catalytic activity and stability of the common Pt-based *** Pt alloy structures which promise to surmount these issues,are challenging and impractical to fabricate using common high-temperature *** address the urgent need for simple and rapid synthesis methods for such alloys,here we report the versatile plasma-assisted thermal annealing synthesis of a robust electrocatalyst with PtFe alloys supported on N-doped carbon nanotubes(denoted as PtFe@NCNT-P).Benefiting from the reactive plasma-specific effects,the PtFe@NCNT-P electrocatalyst features ultrafine PtFe alloy nanoparticles(mean size~2.88 nm,ordered degree~87.07%)and ultrathin N-doped carbon(NC)shells(0.3–0.7 nm),leading to the excellent catalytic activity and stability toward *** catalyst shows the specific and mass activities of 3.99 mA/cm^(2)and 2,148.5 mA/mg,which are 7.82 and 7.41 times higher than those for commercial Pt/C(0.51 mA/cm^(2),290 mA/mg),and 2.18 and 2.59 times higher compared to the plasma-untreated PtFe@NCNT(1.83 mA/cm2,829.5 mA/mg),*** PtFe@NCNT-P further exhibits extraordinary stability during the long-term chronoamperometry test and 1,000-cycle cyclic voltammetry scanning,much better compared to PtFe@NCNT samples even after the longer thermal *** findings show great potential of the plasma-enabled synthesis of high-performance carbon-supported metallic electrocatalysts for the emerging clean energy technologies.

Sulforaphane enhances Nrf2-mediated antioxidant responses of skeletal muscle induced by exhaustive exercise in HIIT mice

Nuclear factor erythroid-derived 2-like 2(Nrf2)is the master regulator of antioxidant ***-intensity interval training(HIIT)has been proposed as a time-efficient training program and has become a substantial component of modern training program In the present study,we evaluated the effects of sulforaphane(SFN),a dietary isothiocyanate derived from cruciferous vegetables and a potent Nrf2 activator,on Nrf2-mediated antioxidant defense responses of skeletal muscle induced by exhaustive exercise in HIIT *** C57 BL/6 J mice were randomly allocated into control group,HIIT group,and HIIT pretreated with SFN(HIIT+SFN)*** the third day after completion of a 6-weeks HIIT protocol,an exhaustive treadmill test was conducted in all *** were intraperitoneally injected with SFN(HIIT+SFN group)or PBS(HIIT and control mice)4 times in 3 days prior to the exhaustive treadmill *** results indicated that the 6-weeks HIIT protocol did not increase the antioxidative capacity of skeletal muscle during exhaustive ***,SFN treatment improved anti oxidative capacity of skeletal muscle in response to the acute exhaustive exercise by increasing mRNA and nucleoprotein expression of Nrf2 and these genes involved in antioxidant generation and decreasing blood creatine kinase(CK)and 4-hydroxy-2-nonenal(4-HNE)-modified protein levels in the HIIT mice.

The potency of Toll-like receptor 9(TLR9)agonist to drive innate immune response was limited due to immune suppression or tolerance during TLR9 signaling activation in immune *** we addressed this problem by introducing hydroxyapatite nanoparticles(HANPs)to CpG ODN(CpG),a TLR9 *** study revealed that HANPs concentration and durationdependently reprogramed the immune response by enhancing the secretion of immunostimulatory cytokines(tumor necrosis factorα(TNFα)or IL-6)while reducing the production of immunosuppressive cytokine(IL-10)in macrophages in response to ***,the enhanced immune response benefited from increased intracellular Ca2+in macrophage by the addition of ***,we found exposure to HANPs impacted the mitochondrial function of macrophages in support of the synthesis of adenosine triphosphate(ATP),the production of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NAD),and reactive oxygen species(ROS)in the presence or absence of *** vaccinated mice model,only one vaccination with a mixture of CpG,HANPs,and OVA,a model antigen,allowed the development of a long-lasting balanced humoral immunity in mice without any histopathological change in the local injection ***,this study revealed that HANPs could modulate the intracellular calcium level,mitochondrial function,and immune response in immune cells,and suggested a potential combination adjuvant of HANPs and TLR9 agonist for vaccine development.

Myocarditis is an inflammatory disease of the cardiac muscle and one of the primary causes of dilated *** B coxsackievirus(CVB)is one of the leading causative pathogens of viral myocarditis,which primarily affects children and young *** to the lack of vaccines,the development of antiviral medicines is crucial to controlling CVB infection and the progression of *** this study,we investigated the antiviral effect of baicalein,a flavonoid extracted from Scutellaria *** results demonstrated that baicalein treatment significantly reduced cytopathic effect and increased cell viability in CVB3-infected *** addition,significant reductions in viral protein 3D,viral RNA,and viral particles were observed in CVB3-infected cells treated with *** found that baicalein exerted its inhibitory effect in the early stages of CVB3 *** also suppressed viral replication in the myocardium and effectively alleviated myocarditis induced by CVB3 *** study revealed that baicalein exerts its antiviral effect by inhibiting the activity of caspase-1 and viral protease *** together,our findings demonstrate that baicalein has antiviral activity against CVB3 infection and may serve as a potential therapeutic option for the myocarditis caused by enterovirus infection.
