Carbon-based nanozymes with multifunctional applications have attracted enormous attention,however,there is still a lack of an effective strategy for inexpensive preparation of high-active carbon-based nanozyme.We herein report a waste paperderived CoFe_(2)O_(4)/porous carbon nanozyme for the colorimetric detection of glucose and glutathione(GSH)in biofluids.The hybrid CoFe_(2)O_(4)/porous carbon material was successfully prepared via a combined impregnation,hydrolysis and carbonization method.Newly constructed CoFe_(2)O_(4)/porous carbon material with enhanced peroxidase-like activity could oxidize colorless tetramethylbenzidine(TMB)to blue oxidized TMB with adding H_(2)O_(2).A sensitive colorimetric analysis platform for monitoring the levels of glucose and GSH in biofluids was respectively developed.The proposed analytical method possessed predominant features such as low limit of detections(LODs)(0.16μmol/L for glucose and 120 nmol/L for GSH),broad linear ranges(1-200μmol/L for glucose and 1-50μmol/L for GSH),and excellent practical potential.This multipurpose platform not only provides a promising strategy for transforming waste paper into valuable carbon-based nanozyme,but also paves the way for excavating the potential biomedical and environmental applications from waste paper.

With the increase in the aging population,the need for elderly care services has diversified,and smart elderly care has become an effective measure to cope with this increasing aging population.Based on the data from the platform“Guan Hu Tong”of RQ Company in the community of Shaanxi Province in western China,this study mined the data of smart elderly care services through the recency,frequency and monetary value(RFM)model and the backpropagation(BP)neural network model,constructed the user profile of the elderly,and predicted users’practical demands.The following conclusions were drawn:The oldest users are important target users of smart elderly care service platforms;Elderly women living alone rely more on smart elderly care services;Meal delivery and health follow-up services are the most popular among elderly users.

Currently, accumulating pieces of evidence indicate that probiotics, living in the gastrointestinal tract, play an important role in regulating host metabolism. As a tool, probiotics have great potential for treating lipid metabolism diseases. However, the relationship between probiotics and abnormal lipid metabolism is still unclear, and the mechanism of action has been become a focus of microbiome research. Therefore, taking intestinal probiotics as the starting point, this article combs the relationship between probiotics and lipid metabolism. Moreover, we discuss the underlying mechanisms of intestinal probiotics regulating lipid metabolism and summarize the therapeutic strategies for abnormal lipids metabolism. This article provides a reference for the further utilization of probiotics in the field of functional foods(food industry). Meanwhile, it will benefit the clinical diagnosis and treatment of lipid metabolism diseases.

One of the thorny problems currently impeding the applications of the fluorescence imaging technique is the poor spatial resolution in deep tissue.Ultrasound-switchable fluorescence(USF)imaging is a novel imaging tool that has recently been explored to possibly surmount the above-mentioned bottleneck.Herein,αβ-cyclodextrin/indocyanine green(ICG)complex-encapsulated poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)(PNIPAM)nanogel was synthesized and studied for ex vivo/in vivo deep tissue/high-resolution near infrared USF(NIR-USF)imaging.To be specific,our results revealed that the average diameter of the as-prepared nanogels was significantly decreased to-32 nm from-335 nm compared to the reported ICG-PNIPAM nanoparticles.Additionally,the excitation/emission characteristics of the ICG itself in present nanogels were almost completely retained,and the resultant nanogel exhibited high physiological stability and positive biocompatibility.In particular,the signal-to-noise ratio of the USF image for the PNIPAM/P-cyclodextrin/ICG nanogel(33.01±2.42 dB)was prominently higher than that of the ICG-PNIPAM nanoparticles(18.73±0.33 dB)in 1.5-cm-thick chicken breast tissues.The NIR-USF imaging in 3.5-cm-thick chicken breast tissues was achieved using this new probe.The e x v iv o NIR-USF imaging of the mouse liver was also successfully obtained.Animal experiments showed that the present nanogels were able to be effectively accumulated into U87 tumor-bearing mice via enhanced permeability and retention effects,and the high-resolution NIR-USF imaging of in v ivo tumor was efficiently acquired.The metabolism and in vivo biodistribution of the nanogels were evaluated.Overall,the results suggest that the current nanogel is a highly promising NIR-USF probe for deep tissue and high-resolution USF imaging.

Quantum key distribution(QKD) technology provides proved unconditional security in pointto-point key transmissions based on quantum mechanics. However, several limitations, most prominently range,make it complex to construct large QKD network. The trusted relay QKD network is the most practical scene,and stochastic routing scheme was proposed to solve the fatal problem that some relay nodes may be controlled by adversary. But most results in stochastic routing scheme hinge on an adversary model without consideration of attacker’s prior-knowledge and attack strategy. To reveal the security problem, we propose a new adversary model and apply it in grid-shaped partially-trusted relay QKD network. Then we analyze the best attack strategy and the impact on security under various situations respectively.Analysis and simulation results show that in some cases the security of stochastic routing scheme will be compromised, and a generalized upper bound for the overall safe probability is obtained. We also discuss how to alleviate the security problem, making the network more robust to attacks.

Inflammation-mediated carcinogenesis develops in the context of chronic inflammation and is a significant cause of cancer within the digestive system.In the chronic inflammation microenvironment,the metabolic activity of tissue cells undergoes extensive changes,which interfere with the normal function of immune cells.Dysregulation of cell metabolism and immune function has been identified as a key factor contributing to inflammation-mediated carcinogenesis within the major digestive organs,such as the stomach,liver,and colorectum.This metabolic-immune imbalance also corresponds to traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)theories of“yin-yang disharmony”and“disharmony between Ying-nutrients and Wei-defense.”The metabolic-immune imbalance has also been regarded as the key factor supporting“treatment of different diseases with the same method”,in which the same approach is adopted in the treatment of different conditions.In the TCM treatment process,it is necessary to first identify TCM patterns and then apply the corresponding TCM to correct the dysregulated metabolic and immune function,thereby blocking the progression from inflammation to malignancy.Our study findings deepen the TCM understanding of metabolic-immune dysregulation and the relationship between metabolic-immune dysregulation,pattern identification,and treatment method.They also provide new insights for the treatment of inflammation-mediated carcinogenesis in major digestive organs and help us further explore the scientific connotation of the TCM strategy of“treating different diseases with the same method”.

To study the effects of dietary energy level on the meat quality of different muscles in finishing pigs,400Xiangcun Black pigs(BW=79.55±4.77 kg)were randomly assigned to 5 treatments with varied calculated digestive energy(DE)at 3,050,3,100,3,150,3,200 and 3,250 kcal/kg,respectively.Each treatment had 8replicates with 10 pigs per replicate.Meat quality,amino acid and fatty acid composition were tested in this study.No differences in average daily gain,average daily feed intake or feed-to-gain ratio(P>0.05)were observed among dietary treatments.Glycogen concentrations of longissimus dorsi(LD)muscle in DE3150was higher than those in other groups(P<0.05).The crude fat concentration of biceps femoris(BF)muscle in DE3250 tended to be higher than that in DE3150 and DE3100 groups(P<0.05).Pigs in DE3250 and DE3200 had higher fiber density and smaller cross-sectional area of BF muscle than those in DE3150(P<0.05).Pigs in DE3150 had the highest Cu concentration in LD muscle compared with those in DE3200,DE3250(P<0.05).The C16:1 proportion of LD muscle was lower(P<0.01)and C20:1 was higher(P<0.05)in DE3050 than that in the other dietary treatments.The C18:3n6 and C20:3n6 proportions of BF muscle in DE3150 were higher than those in DE 3050,DE3200 and DE3250(P<0.05).For LD muscle,m RNA expressions of type I and IIa MyHC in group DE3150 were higher than other treatments(P<0.01).The LD muscle in DE3150 expressed higher PPARd than in other groups(P<0.01).Pigs in DE3100 expressed higher FOX1 than in DE3200 and DE3250(P<0.05).Sterol-regulatory element binding proteins(SREBPa)mRNA expression decreased linearly when dietary energy level increased in BF muscle(P<0.01).In conclusion,a200 kcal/kg decrease in digestible energy for 4 consecutive weeks did not affect growth performance of Xiangcun Black pigs.Furthermore,LD and BF muscle respond differently to dietary energy level,and meat quality was improved by the medium energy level during the finishing phase.

Enhancing the selectivity of hydrocarbon in CO_(2)is a great challenge.Herein,taking widely-used and highly-stable TiO_(2)as an example,we found that the protonation step,the key step for CH_(4)production,can change from endoergic to exoergic by using red phosphorus quantum dots.Consequently,the main product in CO_(2)reduction can be shifted from CO into CH_(4).The preparation method is very simple,which just ultrasonically treating the red P in the presence of TiO_(2).With an initial rate of CH_(4)production of 4.69μmol·g^(-1)·h^(-1),under simulated solar light,it manifests a significant 49.4-fold enhancement of CH_(4)yield over TiO_(2).Density functional calculation indicates that the red P optimizes the surface electronic structure.The Gibbs free energy for CHO^(*)formation(^(-1).12 eV)becomes lower than the desorption energy of the CO(-0.01 eV)when red P is introduced.This indicates that the CO intermediates on the surface are rapidly protonated to produce CHO^(*).Subsequently,the CHO^(*)will be converted into CH_(4)instead of being desorbed from the surface to produce CO.This study demonstrates that red P quantum dot is a promising candidate for the development of efficient photocatalyst for CO_(2)photoreduction to CH_(4)under solar light irradiation.
