Simulation and analysis of soil homogenization drills based on discrete element method and response surface methodology

Currently,rotary drilling is one of the main pieces of equipment used for in-situ remediation of contaminated ***,this equipment has problems such as uneven mixing and low utilization efficiency,which affect the efficiency of in-situ soil *** improve the efficiency of in-situ soil remediation,this paper takes contaminated black soil as the research object,and the structural design of the new three-stage soil remediation auger is carried out based on *** mixing process of soil and heavy metal passivator under different motion and structural parameters was investigated by the discrete element method(DEM)and response surface *** experimental design was based on rotational speed,homogenizing mixing time,crushing section pitch,and homogenizing section pitch as factors,and soil fragmentation ratio,the coefficient of dispersion,and torque as optimization *** kinematic and structural parameters of the three-stage auger drill bit were then optimized using the one-factor method,the orthogonal test,and the response surface methodology,*** test method uses a one-way test to determine the central level value of the orthogonal test and a comprehensive balance method to determine the best combination of parameters for the orthogonal test,which is then used as the central value of the response surface test for parameter *** optimal combinations of kinematic and structural parameters of the three-stage auger drill bit are determined and validated using response surface *** optimum combination of parameters was found to be a speed of 129 rpm,a homogenizing mixing time of 24 s,a pitch of 165 mm in the crushing section,and a pitch of 132 mm in the homogenizing *** error between the optimal value of the predicted model using the response surface method and the actual simulated value under the optimal parameters is 4.2%,4.9%,and 5.3%,*** optimized factor parameters provide a refe

Non-viral gene coating modified IOL delivering PDGFR-αshRNA interferes with the fibrogenic process to prevent posterior capsular opacification

Posterior capsule opacification(PCO),the most common complication after cataract surgery,is caused by the proliferation,migration and epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT)of residual lens epithelial cells in the capsule *** the surface modification and drug loading of intraocular lens(IOLs)have been effective in preventing PCO to some extent,the intraocular safety of anti-proliferative drug application is still a major limitation in clinical *** this study,we used non-viral gene delivery systems in combination with layer-by-layer(LBL)self-assembly technology,and the modified IOL could effectively prevent the development of PCO by interfering with the EMT process mediated by the platelet-derived growth factor receptor-α(PDGFR-α).Herein,the gene fragments were wrapped by electrostatic conjugation using polyethyleneimine-graft-poly(ethylene glycol)to form gene *** complexes were characterized by dynamic light scattering,transmission electron microscopy(TEM)and agarose gel electrophoresis,and evaluated for storage and serum *** layer assembly behavior of the IOL surface,changes in optical properties and the release behavior of the gene complexes were characterized using quartz crystal microbalance,UV-vis,contact angle and *** vitro experiments showed that the IOL coating has good bio-compatibility and can achieve the corresponding transfection effect,and the released gene complexes exhibited excellent cell internalization and lysosomal escape behaviors,as well as effective inhibition of PDGFR-αexpression and its mediated EMT *** early PCO prevention effect and bio-compatibility evaluation of the modified IOL in vivo were evaluated by implantation into animal *** study provides a new strategy for the development of surface modifications of small nucleic acid drugs and non-toxic EMT interference therapies for PCO.

Episodes of fine-particulate matter(PM_(2.5))pollution are a widespread and common occurrence in China,and have potentially serious implications for human *** conditions play an important role in air quality and influence the formation of regional air pollution *** study applied a new classification method and daily PM_(2.5)concentration data to(a)evaluate different levels of air pollution in the Sichuan-Chongqing region between 2015 and 2017,and(b)investigate their relationships with meteorological parameters including atmospheric boundary layer height,wind speed,temperature inversion,weather type,and atmospheric *** identified a total of 40 air pollution episodes,the most severe of which occurred in winter when the atmospheric layer height was *** heavy pollution events also coincided with low surface(10 m)wind speeds and temperature inversions,weather conditions that generally result from low pressure over the northwestern Sichuan Basin(90-102°E,28-36°N)and southerly atmospheric transport.

Energy and Exergy Analysis of a Cooling/Power Cogeneration Ejector Refrigeration System

The organic Rankine cycle is introduced into the conventional ejector refrigeration(CER)system to establish the low-grade heat-driven cooling/power cogeneration ejector refrigeration(CPC-ER)system using the isobutane as the *** comparison with the CER system where external power is consumed by the circulating pump,the power output from the CPC-ER system is more than the power consumption of its circulating pump so that a portion of net power is derived from the CPC-ER *** on the mathematical model of thermodynamics,energy and exergy analysis of the CPC-ER system is carried out and compared with the CER *** results reveal that the equivalent coefficient of performance(COP)of the CPC-ER system is 41.14%to 71.30%higher than that of the CER system,and the exergy efficiency of the CPC-ER system is 1.32 to 1.49 times higher than that of the CER *** the power produced by the turbine and the total exergy output from the CPC-ER system approach the maximum,as the generating temperature in the generator is up to 80°*** CPC-ER system has the higher energy utilization efficiency than the CER system,and it is suitable for the cooling and power-required places with low-grade thermal sources.

Three-dimensional （3D） interconnected networks fabricated via in-situ growth of N-doped graphene/ carbon nanotubes on Co-containing carbon nanofibers for enhanced oxygen reduction

The strategy of combining highly conductive frameworks with abundant active sites is desirable in the preparation of alternative catalysts to commercial Pt/C for the oxygen reduction reaction （ORR）. In this study, N-doped graphene （NG） and carbon nanotubes （CNT） were grown in-situ on Co-containing carbon nanofibers （CNF） to form three-dimensional （3D） interconnected networks. The NG and CNT bound the interlaced CNF together, facilitating electron transfer and providing additional active sites. The 3D interconnected fiber networks exhibited excellent ORR catalytic behavior with an onset potential of 0.924 V （vs. reversible hydrogen electrode） and a higher current density than Pt/C beyond 0.720 V. In addition, the hybrid system exhibited superior stability and methanol tolerance to Pt/C in alkaline media. This method can be extended to the design of other 3D interconnected network architectures for energy storage and conversion applications.

A novel strategy of tannery sludge disposal–converting into biochar and reusing for Cr(Ⅵ)removal from tannery wastewater

Tannery sludge with high chromium content has been identified as hazardous solid waste due to its potential toxic *** safety disposal and valorization of the tannery sludge remains a *** this study,the chromium stabilization mechanism was systematically investigated during chromium-rich tannery sludge was converted to biochar and the removal performance of the sludge biochar(SBC)for Cr(Ⅵ)from tannery wastewater was also *** results showed that increase in pyrolysis temperature was conductive to the stabilization of Cr and significant reduction of the proportion of Cr(Ⅵ)in *** was confirmed that the stabilization of chromium mainly was attributed to the embedding of chromium in the C matrix and the transformation of the chromium-containing substances from the amorphous Cr(OH)_(3)to the crystalline state,such as(FeMg)Cr_(2)O_(5).The biochar presented high adsorption capacity of Cr(Ⅵ)at low pH and the maximal theoretical adsorption capacity of SBC produced at 800°C can reach 352 mg Cr(Ⅵ)/g,the process of which can be well expressed by Langmuir adsorption isotherm and pseudo second order *** electrostatic effect and reduction reaction were dominantly responsible for the Cr(Ⅵ)adsorption by ***,this study provided a novel strategy for the harmless disposal and resource utilization for the solid waste containing chromium in leather industry.

Boosting practical high voltage lithium metal batteries by butyronitrile in ether electrolytes via coordination, hydrolysis of C≡N and relatively mild concentration strategy

Currently ether solvents have been regarded as the most compatible organic solvents with lithium metal in electrolytes of lithium ***,ether solvents are unstable under high voltage (>4.0 V),and prone to side reactions with nickel-rich high-voltage cathode *** this work,a novel dual-solvent electrolyte in ethylene glycol dimethyl ether (DME) and butyronitrile (BN) mixed solvent was designed and fabricated for Li/Li Ni_(0.5)Mn_(0.3)Co_(0.2)O_(2)-based lithium metal *** charged to high voltage4.3 V,the battery cycled in this optimal electrolyte can maintain the capacity at 133.7 m Ah g^(-1) with a retention of 88.84%after 150 cycles at 0.2 C and-10℃.During long-term cycling,the battery also exhibits excellent cycling performance with capacity maintained at about 112.0 m Ah g^(-1) after 500 cycles at 1C and-10℃.BN has strong oxidation resistance and high conductivity,which can inhibit the decomposition of ether solvents under high voltage and improve the low temperature performance of battery ***,the cyano (–C≡N) group in BN molecular has a strong coordination ability with the high-valent metal ions and can mask the active ions on the cathode,correspondingly reducing the corrosion of cathode material by the ***,cyano group can participate in the hydrolysis to remove trace amounts of water and acidic by-products such as HF in the ***,the boosting effect of butyronitrile for ether solvents can provide a promising strategy for enhancing the performance of high voltage lithium metal batteries for practical industrialization.

A review of the thermal stability of metastable austenite in steels:Martensite formation

Metastable austenite plays a critical role in achieving improved combinations of high strength and high ductility/toughness in the design of advanced high-strength steels(AHSS). The thermal stability of metastable austenite determines the transformation characteristics of AHSS and thus primarily determines the microstructure evolution during complex processes, e.g., the quenching and partitioning process, to achieve the desirable microstructure. This study provides a review of the thermal stability of austenite and its influence on martensitic transformation from both experimental and theoretical modeling perspectives. From the experimental perspective, factors affecting the thermal stability are analyzed,the relative sensitivities are compared, and their corresponding mechanisms are discussed. From the theoretical modeling perspective, the most representative kinetic models that describe athermal and isothermal martensitic transformation are reviewed. The advantages, shortcomings, and applicability of each model are discussed. The systematic review of both experimental and theoretical aspects reveals critical factors in tailoring the stability of metastable austenite and, therefore, provides guidance for the design of advanced steels.

Engineering electrochemical actuators with large bending strain based on 3D-structure titanium carbide MXene composites

Electrically responsive electrochemical actuators that contain a polymer electrolyte membrane laminated between two electrodes have attracted great attention due to their potential applications in smart electronics,wearable devices,and soft ***,some challenges such as the achievement of large bending strain under low applied voltage and fast ion diffusion and accumulation still exist to be *** key to the solution lies in the choice of electrode materials and the design of electrode *** this study,an engineering electrochemical actuator that presents large bending strain under low applied voltage based on MXene/polystyrene-MXene hybrid electrodes is *** developed electrochemical actuator based on the MXene/polystyrene-MXene 3D-structure is found to exhibit large bending strain(ca.1.18%),broad frequency bandwidth,good durability(90%retention after 10,000 cycles)and considerable Young’s modulus(ca.246 MPa).The high-performance actuation mainly stems from the excellent properties of MXene and 3D-structure of the *** MXene provides excellent mechanical strength and high electrical conductivity which facilitate strong interaction and rapid electron transfer in *** 3D architectures formed by polystyrene microspheres generate unimpeded ion pathways for ionic short diffusion and fast *** study reveals that the 3D-structure hybrid electrodes play a crucial role in promoting the performance of such electrochemical actuators.
